- It is difficult to find a really good piece of Mexican Fire Opal rough because most of it is included or poorly shaped. However, when you are able to find that really good piece of rough, it is worth it 100%! Watch as award-winning gem cutter, Michael Sackos, facets a dazzling piece of RED Mexican Fire Opal into his favorite round design: “Simple Portuguese” by Jeff Graham.

My mom loves fire opal and so I have had to cut it several time. Small table see to help the best with fire opal. Although it makes a beauty with the honeycomb design
Yes, I think a honeycomb design would look good in Mexican Fire Opal.
I do Love fire opals.. wow 😮 very perfect cutting!! Thanks from brazil
You are welcome!
I needed this...
Great!
Great video, thanks!
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
That’s a lot of facets
145 facets on a 9mm stone with relatively low RI... hmmmm, I dunno about that.
Personally, I really enjoy cutting the Portuguese cut and tend to cut that design often. I don't have any problem cutting stones from 5mm on up with the Portuguese design. As far as Mexican Opal, I find it cuts a beautiful gemstone, as long as it's red red red and clean.
👌👌👍👍👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
