  • This video Shows how to replace a 10mm coreless brushed motor in one of these 400mm planes. I did not need to remove any of the servos or servo horns or arms meaning that they stay in position. Just a couple of wires to solder onto the circuit board. Then I used UHU contact adhesive to glue everything together. Use a glue that does not attack EPP foam.
The other day when finding the fault I had used a scalpel to cut the fuselage in half, and gently pulled the wing off the body. Circuit board was also glued in, so of course those things need re-gluing.
Here is a link to the first video of these two: • RC Plane Volantex Soni...
I then checked all of the controls and took it for a flight. It was very windy but it flew ok, just as expected.

Thanks for the video as I guess my p51 will require a motor / gearbox replacement soon. One question though, was there a reason you didn't just cut the motor wires and join the new wires to the old ? Would save touching the circuit board.

I suppose I could have done as you suggest but it seemed to go ok this way too and didn't give me a break in the wire to cover but either way would do. Thanks for your comment.

@@Calvertfilm Thank you for getting back to me, and while you are there can I ask if you know the name of the small two pin battery connectors used on the Mustang P51 ?

@@Calvertfilm thank you. It's so I can connect to my IMAX b6 charger. Either my batteries are starting to fail or the original usb charger is playing up at odd times? (I use a usb meter to monitor the current and total mAh put into the battery.)

Very good job Laurie. I use similar engines albeit smaller in 1/72 models on layouts. It looks more realistic having turning props, although they are a bit noisey on layout. I don'e some WWI fighters and have a Wellington bomber to make with them.

Can you tell me where you bought the motor? Mine also burned out.

Just search online for a 10mm Volantex motor. Banggood sell them, and others. I get most of my spares from Wheelspin models in the UK: wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/341035/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8MG1BhCoARIsAHxSiQnnAhwnA6BY3S6z0uF3cDJvT3oyOhgYMr1sd34s5GxZXp_FC-qSiWIaAv3mEALw_wcB

This kind of plane every landing is a crash! i just wonder how long can those foam hold on to the motor!

I have a Mustang that has done 50 flight days. The motor has tried to eject four times but it just glues straight in again. The plane still actually looks good as I touch up the paint. 50th flight on my channel if interested.

So far up to 50 flights and still going strong. Had to replace the prop saver three times, and touch up the paint, that's all.
