  • Brings together ideas from Theremin's Rhythmicon and the lovely pendulum waves. For more of these videos and to find out about them see bouncemetronome.com/video-reso...
For more videos of the rhythmicon or to try it out yourself see: bouncemetronome.com/features/p...
This version uses a spiral effect . In fact I was trying to get Bounce Metronome to do this: whitneymusicbox.org/index.php?...
but after programming it realised that I'd made something different. Nice all the same though :).
For this same sound track, with the balls bouncing back and forth see
    • The Sound of a Pendulu...
HOW TO MAKE THIS IN BOUNCE METRONOME PRO
To make a sonified pendulum wave, choose, for instance, Theremin's rhythmicon in the main window drop list of metronome types. Then go to Rhythms | Sound of Pendulum Waves (Ctrl + 256). This version uses consecutive harmonics from 1 to 16
For this spiral version, first select Bounce Inside Oval in the droplist at top right of the bouncing balls windows.
Then, go to Bounce | Bounce Patterns and Heights (Ctrl + 227), and go to More several times in this window (needs Opts | Advanced Mode to show the More buttons).
Then the main option to switch on is:
    Keep balls steady, rotate ovals
(this is the one that turns the entire spiral around instead of the balls bouncing around and the spiral stationary).
For more tweaks I used in this video see below, end of this info.
    ABOUT PENDULUM WAVES
A pendulum wave has pendulums with strings of varying length, which swing back and forth each at a different rate to make these beautiful patterns.
This video uses bouncing balls instead, bouncing at 52, up to 66 beats per measure. Each ball plays one of the harmonics of the harmonic series
Theremin's rhythmicon uses rhythms, varying from 1 to 16, played on harmonics 1 to 16. So it is much the same idea you just need to start at 52 instead of 1.

For another sonified pendulum wave see the video at the bottom of www.stephenjamestaylor.com/sjt...
    - his simulation is matched up almost exactly with a film of a real-world pendulum wave :)
MORE TWEAKS USED IN THIS VIDEO
In Bounce | Bounce Patterns and Heights (Ctrl + 227)
Optionally, if you want it just as I have in this video, use:
Show start of measure at -90 degrees (you can adjust this depending where you want the bounces to happen on the screen visually).
Show from other side (this makes it go around clockwise).
Skip bounces - just go around the oval.
Show with bounce centred on oval in 3D.
I also hid the ovals, changed the size of the bouncing balls, changed the size of the "dots" that make up the spiral, adjusted horizontal and vertical scale and various other tweaks - which you can find in the Visuals drop menu.
The white cones in the picture are the batons - I set it to batons only and to white batons, and adjusted the length of the batons in the more (several times) version of 3D Bounce Visuals (Ctrl + 226)

It's to do with pendulum waves, have you seen those? Try a youtube search for pendulum waves. To find out more see my webpage about these videos:
