- I always get asked what the fuel mileage on my truck is. In fact, its multiple times a day! So in this video we go over what I get and how I can achieve such high mileage on 40" tires!

First three minutes of this video wasted my life
Travis Vossler surely you meant the first 6 minutes
“skips to 3mins”
Mark Awachie “realizes i’ve been bamboozeled skips to 6min “
First 4 minutes
yep. Blah blah fckn blah
While service manager at a Chevy dealer I had a 15 2500 diesel high country come in. Customer had all the emissions deleted and a tune with no other modifications. I took it on a 30 mile drive on the highway and the gauge showed 30+mpg the whole time. Obviously I didn’t fill it to double check the gauge, but I am a believer. Only thing I was worried about was longevity of the engine, but the truck ran great. The owner said he literally had the work done for fuel economy purposes. He towed a 10,000 lb trailer everywhere and got over 20 mpg towing.
You aren't getting 26 mpg, I think your math is off.
26 Mile a Gallon ??I think you Flunked Math in School.
I've seen 24 out of an LBZ, yes it was calculated by fuel in, and miles driven along a known route. EGR delete, downpipe, 5" MBRP kit, EFI LIVE, DSP5 switch, stock tires, stock ride height. It is possible to tune it that way, and this wasn't the most fuel efficient set up, but it was a 6 hour drive going 80mph with the A/C on. Just requires parts and tuning for mileage vs power.
jmax7733 same here but I'm on 34x12in tires on heavy ass 20 in wheels. A 120hp tune but I've got a pusher y bridge and cold charge pipe. I got 24.2 at best.
when i had my lbz i only got 16.8, however it was lifted 8 inches and on 40s. had pretty much same crap you had, i now have a cummins 4th gen fully deleted pretty much same as your lbz and only get 18.3, super miss my lbz.
I get 27mpg in my duramax by shoving bananas in the power steering pump.
Pig Farmer Ben LMFAO 😂😂😂
That is funny.
😂😂😂😂😂
😂
Omg, it really works!
That's awesome bro! It's now 2018 and your sporting one bad ass mullet with no shame. Go ahead boy!
Lifting it changes the gearing because of the bigger tire radius. It's possible that lifted trucks actually get better MPG's ironically but less torque when towing or getting out of the hole 0-60.
That only applies in 1st gear. after that it doesn't matter.
Taller tires have an overdrive effect in every gear (dropping rpms), much like changing to higher ring and pinion gears. @@peterdarr383
Turning fewer RPM's doesn't guarantee better fuel mileage. If your tires are too big, going smaller will give you better mpg's. If your tires are too small (they'd have to be insanely small, or you'd have to have extremely low gearing), then bigger wheels and tires will help.
Same with gearing. If your tires are way too big, you can actually GAIN mpg's by going with lower gears and turning higher RPM's. Both tire size and weight have a monumental impact on fuel mileage and your gearing needs to be whatever puts the least amount of stress on your engine and combination, given the circumstances (tire size, tire weight, vehicle weight, transmission, use, etc). And tire/wheel size/weight DOES indeed matter at all times, not just first gear. It matters far more than vehicle weight, and if you can imagine a 50,000lb Corvette, it would be extremely slow in a roll race and get terrible gas mileage.
I would believe the 26 mpg if you checked each tank at the pump on the receipt and not off the computer.. I get 23-24 tops without 40's and I have all the deletes, down pipes ect..
Donn Worry exactly. You can't go off the display. Hand calculated, this might be around 15-17. Haha I got 11" of lift and 37's with 2 less cylinders in my Cummins, hand calculated, about 16 highway.
he also said he was going 80mph......but i agree with you.
Bobby Rowlett Is your truck deleted and tuned? aftermarket intake? all helps with MPG
Anthony Joubran even after deletes and tunes, it's not gonna get that fuel mileage in factory form. 😂 this was probably just clickbait. My truck doesn't have any of that emissions bs, 11" of lift, 22's on 37's and 2 less cylinders and averaging 14 in the city. Around 17 on the highway with EFI Live.
Anthony Joubran yes I have 5" turbo back MBRP exhaust, injen intake, h&s tuned, stage 4 transmission, I run 285/75r17 so a lot smaller tire so I have less weight and with no wind I get 24mpg tops
That's how that brown packing tape works. Usually they have a little "machine" (basically a roller) that wets the adhesive as it comes out.
When you say deleted and tune what exactly do you mean? I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado z71 and hate my MPG any suggestions would be great!!
Was looking for info on this for fuel mileage and came across this video. Nice truck. The gas station you're at is always crazy, been going there for years.
I hate to pee on your parade, but there is no way in hell you're getting 26 mpg with an LML with 40 inch tires. I own a 15 Denali Duramax, an 02 SLT Duramax and had a 14 Denali Duramax before that and I've sold Diesel Performance parts for 15+ years. I concur on the BS. 26 mpg would mean that you're getting upwards of 900 miles out of your 36 gallon tank. It would be VERY hard to do it with stock 265 tires. The best I've seen recently is a 2013 LML getting 22-23 mpg on LONG hwy drives with stock 265's. With bigger, heavier 40" tires, lifted up in the air, its getting MUCH worse. I'd guess you're really at 14-18 mpg MAX. Since you gave no details on your calculations I can only assume that like most people, you have no clue how to calculate mileage. many people look at their "instant" MPG coasting downhill with a tailwind and think they're getting 25-30 MPG. That is NOT your average MPG.
To get your ACTUAL mileage start by filling your tank up to the neck which should be about 33-35 gallons in that you have a 36 gallon tank. Next, clear all of your averages on your heads-up display. The LML's are very accurate on the dash computer, but you'll still want to compare to your ACTUAL hand calculations. I'm also assuming that you had your tuner corrected for your current tire OD. If not you're likely cheating yourself out of some mileage. Now DRIVE till nearly empty. If you you approach 600 + miles per tank I would be very surprised. If you do have a one in a million truck that actually gets 25-26 mpg with big tires I'll gladly eat my words.......
Great... Saved me 10 mins of bullshit
Nika Tasha yea can't trust this bullshitter, moron don't even wear a seatbelt and then rambles
@Roland Specht Yup no way in hell he's getting 26 mpg!
We need more people like you in this world.
26mpg for stock wheels and tires 2wd. theres no way that truck gets 26 mpg on 40s.
That's if you're easy on the pedal and going down hill at 65 mph, heavy foot and going 75+ even stock tires 2wd you'll get 20 mpg on your best day. And that's in a 15-17. Now if you regear, delete and tune it you might see a 3-4 mpg increase but nothing crazy like the dude in the video is claiming. You likely wont even get 20 mpg on 40's WITH a regear, delete and tune.
You need to tint your glass bro! Tint looks so good on white trucks!! And it don't cost much!
Stock

Max
I run the same tuner and full delete kit from PPEi. 5" lift on 35's and the best I have seen is 27 mpg in the econ/tow mode.
Did u program your truck's speedometer for those size tires so the math is correct for the mileage. Having a talk with buddy and we wanted to make sure. Thanks.
Ding ding!
I once worked in a factor doing that.. packing boxes. At the start of the video your were having a hard time with your tape... you can get a little tape despencer off ebay.. the front has a sponge that you fill with water and a rolling mechanism that holds and pushes out the tape with a push of a lever...
I love all you people doubting this... pre all the emissions crap that was pretty common. My 2004 cummins (early 2004, the emissions stuff started 2004.5) (crew cab, long bed 7800# on 37's with a similar tune to his) can knock down 24-26 in local driving (DC metro, we get some crap traffic) if I'm being very careful, and I've gotten as high as 28 (on some hilly backroads).
I use a tape machine that you put water into. "Marsh H-1358" it's great. You can even set the tape length. Check it out
I have a 2014 5.3 v6 with everything stock. I know I should've got the v8 but I got a good deal on this truck. What can i delete or do to get better mpg? Right now I average 17-21 mpg
Tuning makes all the difference with mpg. a great EFI live tune will make ALL the difference
5 years later, are you still holding on to diesel? I’m a fan of it more than unleaded because it produces more fuel efficiency as well as power. But I’ve never owned one so I can’t say from experience.
Wright down your mileage when you fill up and do the math. Bigger radius on tires will change your speedo accuracy and add a load on any vehicle to which will bring down mileage per gallon. Your dash mileage meter is a bull$hit liar and confused because of the changes you did to your drivetrain. However, diesel will always get better mileage over the same vehicle if it was gas. He is probably getting around 12 to 15 miles per gallon. If it was gas, he would be around 8 to 10 mpg.
maddmark1 agreed I laugh when people tell me how much they are getting. dash mileage computers are never accurate. my lbz says regularly I'm getting 23 mpg. that's wrong hand calculated I'm getting 17-19.2 depending on how and where
Fredrick Foster
You are both correct.
You are CORRECT
And
The computer is correct.
The computer added each shot of fuel that each injector is injecting into to each cylinder, and then adds up the total.
This is the correct amount of diesel fuel injected.
You are CORRECT, on MPG. WHAT IS MISSING IS THE AMOUNT OF DIESEL FUEL THE PARTICULATE FILTER BURNS.
FUEL INJECTED TOTAL = FUEL TO THE CRANKSHAFT + FUEL THE PARTICULATE FILTER BURNS.
SO BOTH YOU AND THE COMPUTERS ARE. CORRECT
Well we get 16 mpg average with our 5.7 Hemi Dodge Ram and that takes gasoline
calculate mileage. forget what gauges say. with those tires , who knows what's real.
My 06 is deleted on almost stock tires I can barley pull 18 at 70mph on a long flat stretch
Get one of those plastic boxes with flip open lid that hold a bar of soap to keep your sponge in for pkg tape. Works great
I have a GMC 1500 18 city 25 Hwy stock. Then I added K&N and a aftermarket exhaust now I'm getting about 15 city and about 18-24 hwy
What do you do for a living? I am purely curious I know Cali is crazy expensive to live in
can I get a break down of everything you bought and upgraded your truck with, my mpg is horrible. also, do you think I'd be shooting myself in the foot if I didn't upgrade the exhaust
just took trip to maggie valley nc from Florida 21 mpg stock. doing.. well above speed limit... i can see 25mpg to 26 if u do around 65 with delete and tune
I have a 2002 F350 7.3 Diesel, I can not get a tuner like yours thru the company You go thru, What company do You say is Best for my 2002 7.3 Diesel ??
Is this hand calculated??? I'm saying your just looking at the lie-o-meter....which is not accurate at all.
The diesel lane block is a pet peeve for me too, as I pull a travel trailer, and going in between pumps is an issue for me anyway, the end pump is a must!
Question for anyone, how do you get by all the state emission test after you Delete? what are the best Deletes to do? I am buying my first Diesel soon and I am researching for personal use.
DELETE WHAT
First time viewer, subscribed for the mullet! 🤘
Got my work for it sticker the other day. Slapped it on the back of the 6.0 and I've had so many people asking about it and where I've got it and I gave 2 people those little business cards but I ran out so I've been telling them to just check you out on Instagram. Great vids man keep it up
Thank you bud, I really appreciate the order and you helping to spread the word!
What shades you wearing ?
My lml is deleted and I get 16 with 33's. what am I doing wrong. That's off the dash though. Don't know how accurate that is
You are just better at math.
I dunno...I have 35's on mine and it seems hand calculated is always 0.6 MPG less than what the dash shows. I am not deleted and I have (California model) CTS-2 Evolution tuner. Depending on if a Re-gen happens at the top of a full tank of fuel or before I need to fill up I get between 16-18 (total average per tank) I have got up to 20 on the dash but it never stays at 20
I get 18 on the hwy with 35s Toyo M/Ts with the same deleted lml with a 6" lift. Before I was getting 24 with stock 265/16 R20 with no lift. I was a little shocked with the decrease in MPG but simple physics dictates the difference.
I would like to know what all you have done to it and the elevation you're living in? I have a 2013 Denali 2500HD that I have deleted and I have an EZ Link tuner running the same 150 horse tune on a stock suspension and I average 17.25-20.5 mpg depending on time on highway versus stop and go of course, those are hand calculated numbers my digital instrument cluster is always 1-2 mpg higher. Would love to see those kind of fuel numbers though.
I wonder if your bigger wheels make it look like you are going further than you really are?
I want hand calculated proof on that mileage. I call BS.
I agree no way, I own several. Two are deleted.
Zane Pyles yeah I got 26mpg once with my 6.4 in neutral coasting down hill.
Zane Pyles this fuck meant 16 lol i have a deleted lml gets 16-19ish
so what mpg would be normal with a delete and regular sized tires?
same here I have tuned 16 lml, same tuner as this dude, stock wheels tires, ez lynk/y bridge/ hot-cold piping/ fass/ 2in up pipes, and I get hand calculated on the hwy 80mph Cruise max 21 to 23 with no hills or wind
Get the dispenser for the tape it puts the water on as you pull it off the roll ! So much easier.
When straight piping these do you have to get a tuner?
I got 38 mpg put a dollar store turbine in my intake, oh I have lbz, stick with the stock 245/65/16 put zmax in, made a box outta a cooler for ice, just before it goes into my turbine, then turbo, I bet I can get 44mpg with a few more mods, any opinions on what else I can do to get better mpg.?
Theirs a good reason y the rest of the world except US and Canada use diesel for most SUV and Trucks. To increase the amount of oil consumed here. Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Mitsubishi and Nissan all have small diesels that have been arround forever in trucks and SUV's. Just recently Chevy started to offer the diesel built in Thailand for the Colorado. Those Toyota D4D and Ranger 5cyl diesels are an amazing engine when you ride in one but would break our gas job scam going on.
Did you correct fuel economy for tire size?
i got a 2003 2500hd 4x4 looking to get the mileage up on it what can you do
After buying a set of Bridgestone tires at Firestone here in st. Charles, Mo. a few years ago I went back to get the free tire rotation as promised and was told they don't do that . . . So! I called Firestone yesterday and a lady answered the phone at firestone and I asked about the reason for this and she said they do give free tire rotation if you purchase a new set of tires. Obviously, somebody is lying.
I like your channel dude. You're blessed to be in SD. I used to live in East County and O.B. as well. Bought a condo in the good old I.E where I'm from but I miss it down there.
Thanks bud! It's definitely nice down here! A ton of people live up in your area and commute here for work everyday.
Im gna ask a lil pre emtively , before i watch ur other video & it might seem stupid to some of u guys who may already know, but can i use ur method & what u did to ur truck on a gas suv? Ive got an 01 GMC yukon xl slt 4x4 its got a stock 5.3 ltr vortec in it. & im getting roughly 14-15 mpg's give or take 1.5 - 2 mpg?? Thanks in advance for w/e kinda knowledge u guys throw my way.
Have a 2016 ram 2500, full delete, 342 gears in a 4x4 megacab. Easy 28mpg at 72 mph. Tow my 30’ toyhauler at 16,000lbs. At 65 mph and can average 13-14 mph hand calculated. Amazing when you open up this motor how well it does. Oh by the way I have the 6.7 cummins. Thx.
I know your comment is 4 years old, but how was, or still is, that truck? Trying to figure out what diesel to get.
Both both ford and ram make a great diesel truck these years, I personally prefer the ford primarily for the 10spd that's been proven reliable and its new upgraded exaust brake. I think there is a reason huge fleets seem to prefer them.
@dmaxryno can't find the delete video would love to see what you have to say on that topic.
I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500hd gas truck and I get anywhere from 10 miles a gallon to 11 or 12. I was curious if it is possible to get into the 15 or 16 gas mileage range?
It is
I feel you on the Diesel Pumps
How many miles do you get from a tank of diesel?
Bro...I get 26 on my Acura sedan
When will u put the link for the delets i been looking for it for a hour
I have a LS1 swap in a 65 C10, it gets 30.5 mpg on the highway, 22 mpg in the city as long as I stick to the speed limit, it's hard to do with almost 400 HP under the hood.
I deleted my truck and now I can't find it! Any help? Edit: Nevermind, it was in the recycle bin.
How much u $$$ when u fill up ur tank?
Hey bud what tune you running
Bro u said u have 40” what size rims? I got a 12” lift and I had to put 38” I had 42” 26x16 on 38’s
what do you do for work?
What about smog all states are requiring DEF so how do you pass the test
What size lift tires and wheels you got?
Are you judging your mpg from your digital gage on your truck?
Yeah my 2013 Denali w stock tire a air filter and Nitrogen tires I would average 18.7 on the low and 25.6 on the Highway if I would of done a few things i could of got better. But the down side is how much it cost to fill up and if you dont keep it full they dont as good of Mpg due to sloshing.
Do you have any hats that come in flex! And not snap backs!! I’m interested in a few hats!!
DUDE how do you even parallel park your car? hard to find a spot that big around city
Haha I should do a video on that. I've squeezed her into some spots that even impressed me when working on jobs downtown.
I get 15-17 city deleted and 20-21 highway at 70-75.
You say factory gearing? What is that exactly? 3.73: 4.10 355? Mine is a miserable 3.21
How much is a hat like that? I need a xl i just lost my favourite hat, dog chewed it and it was the only one that ever fit right for my massive dome
I heard if you get caught with a delete kit on your diesel its a felony and they impound your truck ?
I never really understood the 1 diesel pump because in texas almost every pump i see cas gas and diesel.
5:08 gas mileage?
How do you do it legally if you are in cali? Red smog?
lmao, there is zero chance youre getting 26mgp lolol
Ty Bigos I understand you don't know what your talking about but I have an 2007.5 duramax crew cab 8ft bed 6" lift on 37" tires, EFI live tuner, 5" full exhaust and I get around 22mpg highway. you get better gas miles with diesel.
Dgozz122 lol. I'm A manager for a diesel performance company.👍🏽 I know a thing or two.
So I highly doubt both trucks mpg and if that was the case you guys should probably contact Guinness book!
Ty Bigos well if your a manager of a "diesel performance shop" and you don't think 22mpg is possible you sir should be fired. Do you drive a diesel truck as a daily or are you just going off what people tell you? i drive my truck every day so I know what kind of highway mpg it gets.
Actually it's not...I have a 2016 GMC 3500 Shortbox Crew, which is getting 22.8 to 23.1 stock on stock rubber, stock tuning, all miles. So...I suspect, tuned, with water injection and deleted, it could be done.
Ty Bigos lol zero chance you can spell mpg and not mgp 😂
4 minutes 20 seconds- to get to the subject -snore was it some kind of code?
24-29mpg 2015 Ram deleted Cummins 4x4 quad cab camper shell loaded 6 Speed G56 average MPGs went up 4-8 MPGs, 3 calculus! Garmin, Android, Google maps & RAM computer! Delete & KN air filter, 9500lbs, 80lbs cold Tires! Now at 125,000! delete at 80,000 miles
hey were did you get your truck deleted?
Putting 40's and leaving stock gears lowers the hwy rpm and will get you some mileage gains on a nice flat road. The big cost is your trans taking the extra load.
They make a dispenser that cuts and wets that tape. We use it daily and it's a time saver.
where did you get your truck deleated
My bro just deleted his truck... 25mpg highway calculated ..6.6 lml. 4x4 2500 denali 4 door. I. Getting mine done soon!
How do delete in Cali and still pass smog check?
I have a 3 inch suspension lift on the front and 2 inch drop shackles in the back on a 2012 GMC V6 2WD and I get 15 mpg
what does taping a box have to do with great gas mileage? video mix-up?
Its an advertisement for his bullshit merch, just like this whole clickbait video. He isn't getting anywhere near 26mpg with that setup, especially in California....lol. Then he has you search around for the "real content" in his other videos where he probably boxes more crap up and wastes more time showing protein shakes and flicking his hair around while babbling out more b.s.! This dude is a phony, straight up. He even admitted his last truck was a gasser, so he is new to the diesel world and clearly doesnt understand how things work!
Did I miss something. What speed are you driving to get mid 20 mpg? 55-60 mph? I get around 24-25 mpg at 55-60 mph but not even close at 75 mph (18-19mpg).
Someone should ship something to the dude's address shown at the beginning of his video when he holds up the "do not bend" package
I’m 18 driving a 96 Dodge Ram but with the 5.9 magnum and it’s killing my pocketed $ on gas I’m saving up for a nother 2 gen but Cummins
Have you verified that the tune has the correct odometer adjustment. If your speedometer/odometer is incorrect you milage will be off. Easiest way to check is using a gps against your trip meter on a long highway trip. Though my LBZ was getting 22mpg until I corrected the speedometer/odometer.
Are you going off the computers MPG
do you have any engine mods or is it bone stock with the ppei?
Bone stock. Only thin done is tune, exhaust and lift pump. Want to build the tranny before going further
I check my Cummins every fill up. You ARE NOT GETTING 26 MPG. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. IT IS SIMPLE PHYSICS. MAYBE 17 IF YOUR LUCKY.
Chris Cook then you need to get rid of your Cummins and get a real truck! na just kidding I don't have a problem with dodge...but I'm willing to bet he might. I got a 2012 lml leveled on 33's and I get 24-26 on the highway...and that's in Tennessee where the roads are a constant hill! he's running bigger tires but the flat ground probably just about evens it out
Chris Cook and that's hand calculating..not jist going off the dash lol. even tho they're usually not far off
drtydmaxxx. Thanks for the comments. I really do check my mileage on every fill up by hand. I get 23mpg on flat ground going 55 mph highway only. Everything else is down from there. Especially if it is windy.
Do you have a chip? Delete? Just curious.
Chris Cook yea my truck is deleted, straight 4 inch downpipe back exhaust so no dpf/def crap, egr is still in place but it's completely deactivated and turned off. I've got an efi live stock delete tune...so it's still stock horsepower, just tuned to let the truck run with the dpf delete and to turn off the egr system. I think the stock delete tune does kinda tweak the fuel curves and rpm parameters to get the most out of a gallon of fuel that the truck possibly can tho lol
drtydmaxxx do those 33s rub because I want to level mine and I don't know what size tire to run
there is a tape dispenser that has a resivoir of water that wets the tape has lever handle and serrate cutter. Mail room suplies.
What is delete? what do you mean?
What tune do you run
He’s using Mullit Math to figure his mpg I call Bullshit on mister cool.
Hay man, I have a 2017 Nissan Titan and am looking to put a 6in rough country lift kit on it with 35s. Any tips on how to save my gas mileage (gas truck) thank Love the vids!
Did u got better MPG
people here in nevada mavrik stores like to park in the pump spots and are not getting fuel they even park with the filler hose on the opposite side of the vehicle
