David Gilmore is beautiful. ❤. I regret so very much, not seeing Pink Floyd, when we were all so young, strong, and shining, crazy diamonds. ⚓️. There is nothing compared to David Gilmore’s passionate guitar, wailing out to us. Tears for sure. 🥹
me too... 1994 they where in Italy for Division Bell Tour (last tour by Pink Floyd).... I begged my university mates to go at the Rome concert at Flaminio stadium.... but everyone was on it's own ... we were from 21 to 23 years old aproximately... from then on never begged anyone, I'll ask and then go jus by myself... but still miss the maybe best time to see David Gilmour guitar solo's
I saw Pink Floyd on one of the first shows on this tour, about a week or so after A Momentary Lapse Of Reason was released. The entire audience sang along with the final chorus. Think about it, just a week after the song was released 75,000 people had memorized the lyrics. The look of surprise and pride on David Gilmour’s face was awesome to see
Can we talk about the ability of the guitar as an instrument to convey emotion, like no other? This is why rock and roll was king for so many decades; and David Gilmore was perhaps the best at making his guitar sing, cry and speak in such a soulful manner. It's all in the "bends" that he is so masterful at, that squeezes the last drop of feeling into his playing. Thanks for a great reaction, RR. Love your channel. Cheers!
The first time I remember hearing this song was on the radio and it had been merged with the Roger Waters song The Tide Is Turning from his album Radio K.A.O.S. I'd always assumed they were one long song, they fit together so well. I've made an MP3 which starts with the final verse of Four Minutes, joined with The Tide Is Turning, joined with On The Turning Away for 16minutes of bliss!
Pink Floyd was my first concert. David’s guitar playing is like having a best friend or a loved one holding you and telling you everything is going to be ok. ✨❤️🥲
I consider myself extremely blessed to have been able to see them perform the Division bell twice and a momentary lapse of reason once live. Words cannot describe the feeling you get from such experiences.
Took my dad to see them in the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. It was an experience ... for the rest of his life. Had never saw him so enthralled. During the concert and for years afterwards. On the Turning Away and Us and Them would have him lying down, eyes closed, blocking whatever passage he happened to be in at the time. Best thing I ever did for my dad. Probably the best thing I ever did for me. Kids reacting to PF and DG make me happy.
@@evanhayward1502 Also saw the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour ... In Dallas... My eyes always fill up with tears watching this song as it takes me back to a night back in '87.... Of course then there's the opposite end of that spectrum at the culmination of the concert when all the fireworks blow at the end of Run Like Hell.... Still makes me stand up in my room.... It's pretty silly, but as we get older, we gotta do something to keep the inner child going...
Its nice to see the younger generation appreciating what we old timers grew up on, I am 67 now. Sadly there will never be music like this ever again and us boomers were very blessed to have experienced it as it was created. Not only are the band performers magical but the quality of sound in a live performance is unmatched anywhere in the world. They have the best sound engineers I have ever seen and in the earlier days included Alan Parsons for example. Got to see them once in concert and it was EPIC.
And we took it for granted, like the sky is blue and amazing music will always be around. There was no bad music, Kind of miss the 80's except for the hair and shoulder pads.
One of my all time favorite Pink Floyd songs... and the lyrics are so appropriate for the current times. David makes his guitar weep then scream for hope. Let there be no more turning away.
Richard Wright, may he be in the great gig in the sky, added so much of that beauty with those keyboards. Thank you again for allowing us to hear these songs with your ears
This is a man that sold his legendary guitar collection (as well as his very beloved black strat) for the homeless. Great reaction. One of my favorite songs because of the meaning.
If I remember correctly for the instruments and equipment he sold he raised $21 million for climate change charities, could say he put his money where his mouth is 👍
I don't believe the black strat was that 'beloved'. It was in the Hard Rock Cafe for many years. It was also mucked about with a lot. It had at least three necks and he chopped a lump out of it to put a sustainer bridge in. He joked that the only original part on it when it was sold was the bridge plate. I think he far preferred his red strat or his beat up Tele. He certainly used them far more than the black strat. The only reason it went for so much is that it was the guitar he used on Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here
It was awesome...good thing I lived close by....Delicate Sound of Thunder is the first live album by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was recorded over five nights at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York, in August 1988.

That is sad, saw him 6 times from 1975 - 1997 including twice with the classic Floyd lineup including Roger Water, the twice in a week on his mid 80s solo tour and lastly back to his version of Floyd for the last 2. Also saw Roger waters 4 times solo. I have been truly blessed to be alive for this era of music, at least with You Tube you can see tons of his stuff. He and Jimmy Page were the best I ever saw. You nailed it; the comment about the backup singers being "angelic". An amazing guitar solo, playing, as great solos should, over, under, alongside, and in circles around, the basic melody and rhythm of the song.
Their music has a dreamlike quality that really enhances the lyrics. David's voice is like another instrument and he plays it superbly. They never get old and each time you listen to a song you will hear something new.
Thank you for realizing the message. Pink Floyd are the greatest band. Raising awareness and creating beautiful music. The backing singers are amazing and when the lady on the left goes off is spine chilling. They add so much and are as important as anybody else in the show. Breathtaking. David can say so much in 10 notes of playing than most people will ever convey in their life.
In 1967 as a young 7th grader I called the local Ventura Ca radio station and won the contest (be the 5th caller thing). They sent me a dozen singles (45's). One was the then hit "love is all around" by the Troggs. It's B side was "Wide Thing". There was an unusual record I hadn't heard of. It was the 2nd recording of a new band named "Pink Floyd". The song was "See Emily Play". I became an instant fan. They were my favorite band. Still are...!!!
@8:40 the comment about the backup singers making the difference, elevating the music. That's Pink Floyd in a nutshell. All the little things - the subtle keyboard, backup singers, simple drum fills, or even just a voice. Sound effects. They are everything
Yes dear. This is David. Master of his craft. One more thing - You need to note and acknowledge there are NO bad Pink Floyd songs. Their music ranges from good to excellent. Some of it is immortal. No bad songs, none. The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best albums ever, period. EVER!!!
David is amazing and the rest of the band are just as good as he is. Sometimes we forget how good they are. A subtle little base riff or a drum flourish or RIC on the keys bringing it up another notch. A great band.
That tempo change and David's lower cords at the 6:15 point in the video gives me chills every time I hear it. One hell of a transition that only Pink Floyd can pull off.
His guitar work is about emotion whether it be from happiness or pain. His soul, what it feels is shown through his playing. He plays from the soul. He like many of the great ones were not shredders but they took you on a ride that meant something

This always brings tears to my eyes.
No-one can bend a note quite like Mr Gilmour. An absolute masterclass.
SRV could😘
Bend it like Gilmour
Rogers Waters....nuff said
@@Run_With_The_Kittens - Waters was bass guitar... Whole different critter, that.
The look of surprise and pride on David Gilmour’s face was awesome to see
That is SO heartwarming...I am reduced to a dribbling wreck listening to this. How it must have been for you. May you remember it always
Cheers!
Gilmour.
@@RushfanUK 1000 pardons,lol
You hit it with the "singing guitar". That's exactly what I always felt in terms of David's playing style. :D
guessing you might have never heard a talented mouth organ
You nailed it bro...absolutely correct he reminds me of Clapton in a way.
It's just so amazing to see generation after generation getting blown away
Agree im 58 and you can be sure my two children knows about PF ❤
🤠 Everyone should listen to the words of this song! 👍
see on RUclips at BLACK METAL TEENS REACT TO PINK FLOYD
The first time I remember hearing this song was on the radio and it had been merged with the Roger Waters song The Tide Is Turning from his album Radio K.A.O.S. I'd always assumed they were one long song, they fit together so well. I've made an MP3 which starts with the final verse of Four Minutes, joined with The Tide Is Turning, joined with On The Turning Away for 16minutes of bliss!
One of the hardest songs to listen to...to really listen to.
The seventies was such a great time to be a teenager. Driving parents nuts with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Ah, the memories.
The background singers are a key ingredient to the mood of the music and they create a richness, a fullness, in person they're amazing.
Pink Floyd was my first concert. David’s guitar playing is like having a best friend or a loved one holding you and telling you everything is going to be ok. ✨❤️🥲
Great comment. That is exactly how ive felt all these years listening to David. I'd just never thought of it like that.
First concert? That's a good place to start!
You don't "Pink Floyd " till you see Roger Waters....
@@Run_With_The_Kittens whatever you say buddy
@@slowhand06 its where I started and stopped. Why bother.
Bloody great to see a whole new generation discovering this wonderful music and getting fully blown away.
It's pretty silly, but as we get older, we gotta do something to keep the inner child going...
this will be called classical music in 100 year's time!! roll over beethoven & tell tchaikovsky the news!!!
You should look up a band called El Monstero. They are awesome.
Gawd. So blessed you are
Pink floyd has saved my life a few times. Absolutely beautiful song and very underrated.
Mine too. And my others I presume.
Mine too brother
Mine as well.
And me. Delicate sound of Thunder ….
Count me in too!
Pink Floyd is a one of a kind genius. Music and lyrics that produce emotion..
You said it exactly 100% right!!!!
There are very few guitarists who can make a guitar sing like that, Hendrix made his strat talk, Knopfler too. Great to see your reaction to it 😁
Even after all these years, this song and his playing knocks the wind out of me. A true master.
David Gilmour plugs the guitar into his soul and touches Heaven.
This song meant a lot to me when i was homeless and people would look at with disgust til i met a retired marine Vietnam veteran who gave me hope
The only reason it went for so much is that it was the guitar he used on Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here
Right after he watched Schindler's List.
That moment at 10:03 when Margaret Taylor hits those notes just takes the song to another level.
And also the same notes David played... unbelievable.

The whole concert "Delicate Sound of Thunder" is a Masterpiece of live performances from late 80s.
Well said, Sir.
It was awesome...good thing I lived close by....Delicate Sound of Thunder is the first live album by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was recorded over five nights at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York, in August 1988.
Love "Delicate Sound Of Thunder"
Used to love playing the Delicate Sound of Thunder “HIFI VHS” video through the home theatre system back in the day. Awesome concert. Wore out some CD’s too.
One of the first albums I bought with money I had earned as a kid.
I wouldn't worry about the folks who complain about the pausing of the video, as you said, these are 'reactions' videos: we are here for is to watch 'your' reactions to our favorite music. Plus you also provide links to the actual performance videos that they can go watch. Oh, great job.

Im 43 now and I thank my moms for always playing music in house in the 80s growing up, I truly appreciate these musicians, the talent was so diverse and unique, I completely missed this jam, thanks for the reaction I felt every note, sound, vibration, it was powerful.
All the right notes in all the right places. It’s a gift.
Your reactions to Pink Floyd and David Gilmour are priceless. It's how I've felt about them for 50 years. The first time I saw them was 1975 and the experience changed me forever. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so happy that the younger generation listens to music that brought us up. Pink Floyd will NEVER become obsolete. This video makes me really happy to know that classic rock still has a place in todays generation. It really does. Great video young lady 👏 👍 ❤🇨🇦💯
1. You used the word ‘ethereal’ in the most appropriate manner. 2. You clearly ‘feel’ music in general and Pink Floyd/David Gilmour in particular.
3. Your willingness to be ‘slaughtered’ by those who die a thousand deaths if you interrupt a David Gilmour guitar solo is admirable.
I see that comment far too often and it is said just to show how much people hold David’s gift in reverence. I love watching your reactions. They are emotionally honest, intelligent, nuanced and musically informed. I don’t know that we could ask for more.
Do the haters know they can watch the entire concert uninterrupted on RUclips? This is a REACTION video.
Watching you made me tear up at the same time you did. It's wonderful to see young people experience Pink Floyd. Thank you.
Again special band bring your soul to a special place god bless you
David Gilmour is one of the few guitarists who just know how to squeeze every drop of emotion out of a song ( and you ) - just a cosmic given talent.
Try " The Great Gig In The Sky". You won't hear singing like it again. Promise.
It has to be the original recording with Claire Torry.
I love the live version from this concert. It’s sooo good.

I've seen other reaction videos and everyone reacts the same way when Margaret belts out that scream. She's awesome.
Check out "Great gig in the sky" from this same concert "A Delicate Sound of Thunder". All three girls are featured and Margaret really gets up there.
i cry sometimes just knowing that David won´t perform again in a concert, I've never seen him in one before :(
That is sad, saw him 6 times from 1975 - 1997 including twice with the classic Floyd lineup including Roger Water, the twice in a week on his mid 80s solo tour and lastly back to his version of Floyd for the last 2. Also saw Roger waters 4 times solo. I have been truly blessed to be alive for this era of music, at least with You Tube you can see tons of his stuff. He and Jimmy Page were the best I ever saw. Enjoy! Rock On. 😎😉

I went to a Catholic high school in New Zealand, as a child, and this is one of the songs we learnt to sing in the choir!
Fond memories.
That is _very, very_ good to hear! It is very much a song that carries Christian values! 👌
That's one classy teacher.
@@ToddSauve Yeah. This is what "Christian rock" should have been.
@@6yjjk I agree. Most so-called Christian Rock doesn't explain what it is be a Christian at all. It is just a lot of emotional (or attempts to be emotional) nonsense that promotes nothing positive from the scriptures that I can think of. And the music is weak and bland. I'll just pick and choose what I find to be right from the panorama of music out there and forget about the corporate attempts to create a pre-defined market based on ignorance.
My friend - it's the culmination of all the "little things", the magic of the interplay, that IS Pink Floyd. So glad you're here!
David Gilmour's heart is wired directly into his guitar. It's what makes him great. I love your authentic reactions and It is so satisfying to me to see your appreciation for his unmatched talent. David Gilmour has been one of my favorite musicians since my childhood. Seeing younger folks encounter his work for the first time and really get it does this old man's heart good!
It blows my mind that there are people that have never experienced David and Pink. Seeing you react brings me back to my first hearing of them. It changed or certainly became the music that seemed to reflect the deepness of one part of the beat of my soul. The reason you are blown away is that this music doesn't just pass into your ears, but it reaches down your neck like a grasping hand and grabs at your heart muscle and squeezes the hell-out-of-it!
Good music does.
David is by far my favorite guitarist so much emotion in his playing
Boomer, Class of 1956. We grew up with this. Very pleased for you having just heard it for your first time. Hits hard, doesn't it. Rock on little Sister, rock on.
Holy cow, Rogue, you do know how to put the sun up there in the sky! I gotta respect a lady who is getting to understand Pink Floyd! Thank you for another wonderful reaction. This is the seventh sense of guitar by David. I feel like flying to Andromeda galaxy while listening to his guitar. It's just out of the world.
In my opinion one of the most accomplished guitar players, he brings so much feeling to his playing is inspiring
Excellent observation. We get old, the band members get old, but their Music never gets old.
I love that you found out what is Floyd fans know, Floyd is all love,
Love Gilmour's underappreciated work on this song. He seems to be able to improvise for hours on the same chord progression and is always so lyrical.
He's such an intelligent and intuitive guitarist and really good vocally
So glad you’re listening to Floyd. OTTA is a masterpiece
What a great song. Pink Floyd is the total package. The vocals, the instrumental, and the visual, it doesn't get any better.
One of the most beautiful songs sang by one of the very best ever. His guitar playing is simply the finest. His music is timeless.
Pink Floyd songs bring about emotions and feelings we all have. Memory’s that are so dear to us…it’s therapeutic!
No complaints here about the breaks in the music, even for the genius of the Floyd - we tune in to hear your reaction too!!
That tempo change and David's lower cords at the 6:15 point in the video gives me chills every time I hear it. One hell of a transition that only Pink Floyd can pull off.
Saw them in concert. No one can make a guitar sing and cry and just pour out emotion like David can.
His guitar work is about emotion whether it be from happiness or pain. His soul, what it feels is shown through his playing. He plays from the soul. He like many of the great ones were not shredders but they took you on a ride that meant something
She just heard the greatest music 🎶 out there! It get tear up. Pink Floyd
