You guys always make me smile. I'm an old dude in a landlocked town, with no idea of how I fell upon your channel. But it is so awesome, I have told both of my sons - who don't listen - about how cool your stuff is. So I am sitting here in Bakersfield, CA., enjoying your amazing adventures. Thank you so much. You guys pull viewers into your stories, make me laugh and make me frown as the situation suggests. So, again, thank you so much. And best wishes, safety, safety, safety always. But success to you always as you continue your journey!
Mike, I graduated from BHS in 69. I know what you mean. They are having many wonderful experiences and do many creative things to their boat. Excellent content and editing make it a joy to watch.
AMEN Mike, working on 70 myself and just LOVE ❤️ these stories,
I think PBS our the likes should pick these two up, Very entertaining..!! ✅
So glad to see you guys buddy boating with Beau & Brandy, lovely folks! Cheers warren
Glad to see you all hanging out with Bo & Brandy... You boat is looking
SO nice now I’m thinking you still keep in in-the Norfolk Videos I have Not watched
Yet that state, “Our NEW Boat” , why would you, this boat is WAY to cool 😎 👍 ✅
When I first started watching two weeks ago, I told a friend in Europe I thought you
Had Three (3) Boats by now (because of the Blue Deck, That is Now White, and the the New Boat
Comment when getting back to Norfolk, But now I am thinking you still have THIS one crossing thr
North Atlantic. 😳😱. But I’ll wait until I get to it... LOL. 😂🤭🤫
I feel like I know you guys. I feel like we've been friends for years. I love watching your videos. Thank you so much all your hard work and sharing your adventures. I hope to go sail the ocean someday. I have a lil 22ft luger. It's a lot of fun on the lake but I feel like I would need a bigger boat to do what you guys do.
So good of you to be pretty much mentoring Saoirse through their first steps of cruising... :) Just be sure they eventually buy their own portable VHF handset! LOL!!!
They did. Well, we did and brought it over for them.
REALLY liked this video K&D !!! Just the "day to day" here's what it's like living aboard in the Bahamas...for those of us who will be doing it in the future too...is great to watch. Cheers from Windsor Ontario.
When you have such a light breeze like that, when gybing you can probably just grab the main sheet lines above your head coming out of the block on the boom, manually pull the sail over to the center, gybe the boat [adjust the steering]and let the lines out on the other side. There is no need to do all the adjustments with all the winches and the cleats. You can do that after the gybe.I've been sailing and racing off and on for over 50 years and that is how I've always done it when the wind is light enough.
Thank you. I have been on the fence about bailing out of California and going after the boat dream instead. The conch helped cement my decision, I can still taste the fresh conch I had while on an excursion snorkeling in the clear waters ( like looking through glass ) in Grand Cayman. I'll miss running around the desert and mountains in my Jeep. but not the freezing socal ocean.
As a viewer its been fun watching your refit of UMA. Many hours and hard work on camera. Many more hours of work off camera. Here is where the payoff comes back to traveling and enjoying life. Safe travel you two.
It's good seeing you kids having so much fun together... I have to thank God for blessing you kids and keeping y'all safe...
Much love and prayers... BBE..
you guys have something very special! I love your channel!! LONG LIVE Uma!!!
That’s what life is all about. Short sails with good friends, long dives and lots of cooking and feasting fun. 😋
Another great video guys! You're so good at showing stories with such warmth, optimism and friendliness, so well made, I loved the cuttting to the beats of the music! Thanks again for sharing the steps of your adventures :-)!
D Hi guys. Love your videos. I don’t know if you’ve fixed your motor yet, but an easy fix to try is to first get some carburetor cleaner. Remove the fuel line from the carb. Drain it using the drain screw at the bottom of the bowl. Now, inject some carb cleaner into the carb through the fuel inlet, close the drain and fill the bowl with carb cleaner. Let it sit for about 30 mins. Now, make sure you have fresh, clean gas, reattach the fuel line, if you haven’t already, and try to start her. This can solve the problem your having in a lot of cases. If that doesn’t work, remove the carb and carefully disassemble it over a clean bucket. You can remove the jets if you have the proper size screwdriver. Use the carb cleaner and spray it through all the orifices and jets in the carb. Reassemble, put it back on the motor, pull the cord and away you go....you may have to pull a few times...lol...but it should start and run well. You may have to readjust the idle. Good luck and hope you continue to have fun!
Awesome tip!!! Salty water to cook your lobster in!! Sweet
ahhh. . . u guys make me so happy. Love the super positive vib!
you two have done such a nice job on your boat. It's come along way, very nice
Sailing into freedom for tips you guys are amazing.
Nicely edited video. I like the way you keep things entertaining with out all of the dead air.You guys make me and I'm sure lots of others feel good watching your adventures.
I thought the water in the Bahamas was going to be warm, surprise. It was not warm until we got to Panama. Love your videos, brings back cherished memories
Your an inspiration....and a breath of fresh air in a crazy, messed up world....❤️❤️❤️
You two have come so far! Nice work. 🐬
So happy you guys can just chill and enjoy the boat for a while. You've done so much work!
Awesome video! The right mix of fishing, sailing tips, spending time with friend Etc.
What an inspiration you guys are. The wife and I have been planning for years to be liveaboards. 4 more years until we retire; then we're off to the Keys. No sailboat in our future. But trawler living! Dan & Kika stay safe and be blessed!
I still can't get used to seeing the boat with life-lines, it looks so different.... and glad to see you guys met up with Sailing Saoirse folks, been following them on and off for a while.... be safe..... Tim and Cat
Thank you guys for killing my diet! Seeing you eat on the beach with Saoirse and then lobster-oh my goodness. Keep having a great time, it's what being young is for.
The scenery and watercolor in the Bahamas look so much my island, Bermuda. Enjoy!
1) the boat looks great- love the lifelines! 2) you guys were bookin'!
Days sails become you.
That was absolutely one of your best videos
Uma is looking nicer and nicer each day!
For the Torqueedo, there's two option for the foot lenth, you certainly have the longest.
i just finished a nice cod lunch and am full, but seeing you eat the lobster made me hungry again. Looks delicious!
very cool sailing through the compass at the end, nice trick
Great video and a great meal, What a life.
Great video - lots of fun and fantastic food. Thanks & Cheers!
This is the amazing life you have!!!
Enjoy .... and thanks for sharing it with us dreaming on land!
When you were going downwind in the ICW and wanted to kill time/slow down downwind you can center the main instead of reefing. Just make sure you don’t have too much sail out b/c transitioning between maiming downwind and main out can be tricky.
THE LOBSTER ARE GREAT JUST BOILED!!!!
But when you want to try different try this!
After boiling, split in half (butterfly) , paint with lots of butter, sprinkle lightly for color with favorite seasoning salt. Example Lawrey’s Seasoning Salt or Everglades seasoning Salt. Place close under broiler in oven. Broil a few seconds to brown the tips of meat only just a touch. Hold it under broil count to ten to thirty.
Hmmm good! Have fun you two bums!
You deserve it! Watch out for hisacanes
Really tight video montages to start the day - love it! Nicely controlled single handed Gybe Dan.
6:44. I heard a "Bud". It's catching on ;)
What a great step!
Kika , kool colors on the dive suit. :)
Am enjoying this season, especially that you guys are sailing with another couple.
Wow! This video is so beautiful! Good times with friends, good sailing, good food. What could be better?! 😍
I like your arrangement of the kitchen and boat better than the original
Wow! All that food looks delish! The lobster had my mouth watering.
Gee that boat scoots along.
So excited for you to mention coming up to Chesapeake and being in my neck of the world.
The Ukulele bit is so cool. I just bought one to learn how to play, need more of you playing
Wow, Conch ceviche, burritos 🌯 and a lobster 🦞 dinner 🥘? You guys are living the vida loca. Enjoy.....
Made me hungry!
Or... what they call *Tuesday,* in the Caribbean.
Great camera angles make for interesting footage...good job!
Nice to see the Abocos. We went straight for the deeper waters of the Exumas.
We had enough issues with shallow water in the ICW and didn’t want any more holdups before crossing the Atlantic!
So nice to see some sailing on a sailing channel 😊
Love the 🇨🇦 flag your recipies look good and your relationship has just the right amount of salt and pepper don't forget the sriracha sauce for a little bit of heat.😊
Great job ya doing you two! Bravo😄
Great Video! Thanks!
Nice to see you getting some cruising time, after all hard work you have done.
Nice jibing I appreciate how to sail segment . I need to learn... before my boat get ready,,, because then I'll film my first sail and I don't really want to end up on a fail of the year kind of video
6:14 Looking like a superhero in that dive suit Kika
You should stock up on Oscar Meyer precooked bacon ! No refrigeration needed ! Stacks in a cubbard nicely ! Heats up quickly , nice and crisp in about 5minutes or less ! Yum !!! Thanks for sharing 😎
Are there a ton of preservatives in it?
@@mechanicdave80 Dunno about that product, but in theory you could do it with salt... Although salty is sometimes just as bad I guess.
Greenland? 😳 VERY cool. I suspect that will be a sail of a lifetime.
Just found your channel, looks awesome so far and your boat is lovely inside
Bacon fat rules man ! Several weeks ago a viewer asked for some cooking videos and here we go, UMA tries to please. I was wondering why Dan stopped shaving and then I hear you're contemplating a run to Greenland (bbbrrrrrrr). Thanks for letting us enjoy your lives. Stay safe :-)
As a PADI MSDT Instructor. We don't have an official Spear Fishing Specialty, but my first tip is, don't look like you are hunting...
A lot of comments about the Chesapeake Bay area here already I see.... as has been stated, Feb/March is going to be COLD and there is still the possibility of snow during those months. Most people on the upper bay that are seasonal do not even put boats back in the water until mid-April (myself included). As far as sailboat anchorages Annapolis is probably one of the larger and nicer areas if you are coming that far north to start. I would assume you have something worked out already with a marina, but if that is not the case and you want to go North a bit more the overall costs will be lower in the Middle River area, and there are a lot of nice marinas there. We are at the most Northern point of the Chesapeake near the C&D canal... which if you are doing meet & greets as you pass through I can recommend some great locations and even get you in contact with some of the owners of them to help you set things up. Let me know if you need anything at all for that leg of your journey, as this is the area I actually know well.
Hello, I repost a message posted lately at the step 150 : Hello, I follow your channel since a moment now. In this episode, you show your anchor wich is a rocna. A long time ago you have shown how to stay mooring in a very big tempest, you had a bigmantus anchor. Do you still have it? These 2 anchors are the best for me, but I don't know which one to choose. Thanks for exchanging your experience. Yvon, from south of France
Forget my question, You've talked of that at step 41
Plus, I am interested in your thoughts on the Torqueedo.
A little heads up for the Chessie... LOTS of poo water was sent down it this past year from the 2 times it rained (april-june) (late june to october). So I wouldn't dive too much. Also we had mass case of Vibrio as well. If your doing any refit work Deltaville VA, Deale MD (everything within a walk, dinghy or bike ride, like everything, even good pizza at Ledo's), And of course Annapolis are your best bets I would think. Herrington Harbour North has probably everything a boat would need but Towne Point marina is cheaper, and it's 20min to Naptown. You'll find liveaboards there and I'm sure you'll meet Cameron - guy can fix and make anything (he's currently in the Bahamas now too).
The summer lulls are July-August when the winds die down and it's god awful hot. Put a window A/C unit in the companionway. That 6' keel is gonna be fun coming up the ICW in the Carolina's. The hurricanes shifted things around a bit.
Well it's about to snow here in PA so I'm grabing my gear and heading for a latitude adjustment.
Never thought about boiling lobster in saltwater.... interesting... thank you guys!
Wow, that's like a $100 worth of lobster right there! It looked great!
Love the uke! And I will have to try conch ceviche some day... it looks delish!
Follow up, now that you have had it for a bit what do you think of the alcohol stove? How long does a can of fuel last?
Great video and the food looks great
Lobster....wow, wish I could have joined you all.
We love your videos, Please keep them coming. Thank You!
You’re coming to the Chesapeake! Hope you guys can do a meet and greet. I’m based out of Herrington Harbor in Deale. Enjoy the Bahamas and then the trip north.
In the Bahamas and the liv'n is easy!!!
Awesome video.
Great video it was a 15 minute video but only seemed like 5 minutes! Keep up the good work! Till next time cheers!🍻🍻🍻
Hey Lagoon, Fountaine-Pajot, Sunreef, Leopard, Catana, Balance, Privilege, HH, Seawind, etc...,
You are letting Outremer show YOU all up! Offer UMA a new Cat!!!!!
If you are heading north do the great lakes - inland freshwater seas . See the 1000 islands .
(Some days, I want that life! . . . most days.)
Chesapeake Bay in February / March? Coming from the Bahamas, the weather is going to be a bit of a shock! Let us know if you're going to have a meet-up.
So I kinda hate to go there BUT..... That was a very nice, and surprising view when you where wetting your hair. LoL Now that I got that out of my system and made myself into a creep. It was nice watching you guys just having fun out there with the sails. Definitely put a much needed smile on my face. Now that I'm craving bacon though I guess I'll put down my phone and go to the kitchen. 🍴🐷😎
Terriffic video!!! First rate video work! I thought I was watching a pro's production. I really enjoy your videos and it's great to see you away from the docks. Have fun!!!
If the torqeedo becomes too much hassle I could take it off your hands haha. Great video and enjoy the Bahamas adventure. :)
I love you guys 😍🦁💋 Thank you for sharing your life it's such an inspiration, you made me reconsider a lot of things, I was thinking spending my summer time on a Boston whaler in the south of France fully equipped with the barbecue at the back grilling shrimps from the supermarket was cool 😎 But the sailing experience it's making me crazy in love 😍 Thank you 💝
Thanks for share.
Great video
Great video as usual :)
Thank you, but no thank you,...no tape worm for Us, we appreciate the luck we are blessed with. :) Safe travels.
Look at you guys! Kika looks like she belongs in a Bond film lol! Great wet suits guys and some awesome free diving! How the torqeedo working out? Still having outboard troubles? Love the new logo too. Is there a height adjustment for the torqeedo? Maybe its that low for better efficiency for the prop?!
Looking forward to seeing you on the Chesapeake Bay. The greatest sailing estuary in the world. Hope we can meet up.
Thanks for the video. How are you getting on with your electric motors, you mentioned the
outboard is longshaft you can get away with that, how is the main motor? Atb :)
5:14 good lord ...
You guys have really done a great job, Uma looks great cruising through the water and not at like what you paid for her (in a good way). Was wondering though, whatever happened to adding grip to the deck?
Stop by Tangier Island while you're in the Chesapeake Bay, that place has some interesting history (and Lorraine's has some great Chesapeake blue crab soup). Let me know when if you do, would love to meet you two there
I'll be in the Chesapeake Bay area in June (Father's Day Weekend) if you guys are still around. I'll be up by Annapolis.
I'm hearing some IZ Kamakawiwo'ole on that ukulele there. ;)
Fresh caught lobster. Yum
“ what do you want to do while we wait?”
“ I don’t know, we could like play around…”
“ OK that’s a wrap, will see you guys on the next video.“
