The thing I would say about the lebron/Mcdavid and Jordan/Grezky comparison is that Gretzky was more dominant than Jordan. Almost every goal/point record belongs to him by a large margin. Also lots of people debate who is better lebron or Jordan but I think most people generally agree McDavid is a better skilled player because of how much the league has changed with technology.
Gretzky is like wilt with real footage, Crosby is like Jordan with the success in the finals, and mcdavid is like Lebron with the explosiveness and skill
It's tough for one player to dominate all the time for sure - for certain games certainly possible, but consistently every game is very difficult. Having all 4 lines contributing is a much more impactful factor.
I’d love to see a video of you learning about mcdavids teammates. Leon Draisaitl who could be called the second best player in the nhl plays on the same team. And possibly the best young defencemen in Evan Bouchard.
When it comes to playoff hockey everyone needs to be on their A-game mcdavid and leon cant carry the whole team you still need defensive players and offensive players to help mcdavid and leon
I would say the closest comparable to Lebron is Sidney Crosby (who used to be the best player in the league). Crosby was drafted right around the same time Lebron was, both took over the league when they were young, and is still a top-end talent like Lebron is despite being older. The Gretzky to Jordan comparison is on-point, though -- both seen as the GOATs in their respective sports, played around the same time, and were media icons for their sports (Jordan more than Gretzky, but Gretzky was no slouch, either). Getting back to the McDavid/Lebron comparison, though -- if you mean he is in the running to challenge Gretzky for GOAT status (of which, many consider Lebron to be the second-best of all time), then I would say McDavid is still pretty far away from that. McDavid was drafted in 2015, whereas Lebron was drafted in 2003, so there's a huge gap between what they've proven -- though, depending on what happens, he may pose a case for it. For now, I would say the closest players to Gretzky are Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe, and Mario Lemieux -- in my personal opinion, Mario is the second best -- played the same time as Gretzky nearly and still won hardware. Also, fun fact, Mario's return to hockey after cancer inspired Jordan's second return. Anyhow, back to Crosby (Lebron's closest comparable), I would say most will likely have Crosby within their top-10, maybe slightly outside of it for others.
Can 1 player carry a team. Short answer is no. Mcdaivd for example plays about 20 mins a night or 1/3 of the game. There are to many other players involved for one man to carry. Long answer sometimes a super star just has themselves a game and wins it themselves. But it’s rare and won’t lift a team over the top though best of 7 playoffs and 82 game regular season. Edit for comparison a nba game has a 12 player roster. A hockey team has 12 forwards. 6 d men and someone in the pipes.
No a player cannot carry a team like bron did or any nba player has. It’s because there’s 19 players/skaters that make it on the ice in a game compared to the 8 or so players that make it on in a nba game. You could argue a goalie can carry a team, just not to the extent of nba superstars.
If you want to see a player carry the team to playoff check out Nikita Kucherov this year's season run 1st round out but still he carried Tampa bay lightning this year
Gretzky = Jordan = Montana = Maradona. Same era. Crosby = Lebron = Brady = Messi. Same era. McDavid = Mahomes..... But not sure who are the standouts for NBA or soccer, in this current generation 🤔
Mcdavid is more skilled no doubt he plays in a more skilled leauge, but we're looking at legacy and impact on the game no conversation wayne gretzky is the goat, he holds like 1/2 the individual records in the leauge by a large margin. And I'd still say Mario Lemuiex is number 2, you should do a video on him to imo.
Whole situation makes it an easy choice. Panthers are a dirty opponent. Watch for all the bullshit Besides the Oilers aren't my team, we do want to see McDavid win the cup. He deserves the respect and this playoff will easily grow his notoriety either way. Good Gretzky Jordan Lebron and McJesus. Works.
In an era of very poor goaltending and a wider gap between worst and best in the league. Hockey has gotten so good there is no comparison between today and his era but at the same time Gretz didn't have the same coaching, training and developmental system that kids have today.
the wayne to jordan comparison isnt really accurate. wayne is undoubtably the greatest player to touch the ice. no one has come close to him yet. while jordan and lebron are often being compared.
It’s a good nba comparison. Bron-Mcdavid to mj-Gretzky. But I will say the record books for nhl in the 80s and 90s was far easier to break than todays era. Then also nhl players are far more talented and technologically advanced. So Mcdavid is far better of a player then Gretzky, unlike bron to mj, but will still be considered not as “great” for probably his whole career
"u know what I'm saying"😂 Do you know what your saying? Doesn't sound like you really have a clue on hockey or really want to... Know what I'm saying 😂

the Gretzky to Jordan and McDavid to LeBron was a great statement
I was about to say the same thing. Great way to put them in perspective
Not really because gretzky is amazing but it was a different era no one else but up numbers like him but who know mcdavid could do back then
@@ironclock4017 I agree, you can't compare era's like that.
Except Lebron can't read, he loses points for that.

The best goalie in nhl history imo is Dominik Hasek, his nickname was the dominator
I hated him with a passion lol, incredible goaltender.
Ye, he played really well.
I mean, you could make an argument for Plante, Brodeur, Roy, Or even Price and Vaslievskiy tbh...
@@milanek1527 I'd say Roy or Brodeur but on paper the best of the 21st Century is, without doubt, the King himself.
@@canadianninja1756 not without doubt

Ppl keep giving credit to Kris Knoblauch but it's actually former Oilers Paul Coffey joining the team as their defensive coach.
So ironic when you consider the fact Coffey was known for being an offensive dynamo.
I’m sure Coffey has a big say and is also a big part of the offensive team
He’s better than the Lebron of today
Hockey Psych content is great! Go Oilers!
fw the hockey content👌🏼

love the hockey reactions

Edmonton was last in the Stanley Cup Final in 2006. (L in 7 to Carolina)
They last won it in 1990. (W in 5 over Boston)

Well said
Jaromir Jager, he's from Czech Republic 🇨🇿 766 goals 1,155 assists 1,921 points.
1,733 games played
He like Lebron and steph combined bro lol he got that size and speed

Maybe Giannis and or Luka?
Throw in Ohtani for this era
we made the playoffs last year and 5 years in a row

I enjoyed this video, here's some stats 1 Wayne Gretzky 894 goals 1,963 assists 2,857 points in 1,487 games played

Mark messier he's actually front Edmonton alberta won 4 cups with them, 694 goals 1,193 assists 1,887 points.
You're missing one, 5 cups with EDM.😉
Mark only won 4 with edm and one with Rangers I know I know my 80s oilers won 5 I know thanks for trying tho lol
@@pattyglad4 He won in 84, 85, 87, 88, 90. That's 5!

React to the 2019 St. Louis blues Stanley cup run
Oilers take it in 6
Florida Panthers
Gretzky the Larry BIRD of Hockey
Oilers in 6

Oilers gonna win in 6
McDavid is better than Wayne, put 1v1 on the ice tigether mcdavid wins 99% of the time, he has speed, IQ, Skill and strength
Oilers in 6
