I use cheap fabrics all the time! When I op shop (thrift/charity shop) I find all sorts of amazing fabric, bed sheets, a seamstress's stash, a quilter's stash, all sorts of amazing cheap fabric. It's not how much the fabric costs, it's how much you love it, that makes a quilt amazing!!
Hi Sandy. Yet again, another gorgeous tutorial with beautiful vibrant colours 😍 A pity I don't know of anywhere local to me, that offers such gorgeous colours. I'm envious 😊💞
I"m a new subscriber to your channel and I'm following along from Alberta, Canada, and I"m LOVING it!! I love your attitude and outlook in regards to your quilting and how you don't sweat the little stuff....it's something I struggle with and feel I have to try and make everthing perfect, which of course it'snot LOL....But I love what you're doing here and I have so many of your videos saved so that I can recreate some of the things you have made!! Keep them coming...HAPPY QUILTING!!
Hi! Welcome, I'm so glad you've found us! Yes, for me it's much more about the experience than the results and, more often than not, slightly wonky quilts look pretty perfect too! Happy quilting 😁
I got a fat quarter bundle from Amazon that in one of the Mrs Quilty boxes you opened in one of your Videos, I never ordered it again as it felt cheap. Nice that they add some other stuff in their boxes. If I knew every box would have quality fabrics, I would subscribe.
I have been watching so many of your videos and I’m so excited as I will hopefully get a sewing machine for Christmas!!! Hope to try some of your amazing tutorials, I have been given loads of scraps (like 2 boxes full!) so needed lots of inspiration haha!
Hi! I'm glad to hear that, so exciting! You've come to the right olace, I have plenty of scrappy projects you can use your brand new sewing machine for! Happy quilting 😁
When cutting, put a heavy weight at the top of your ruler to stop it from moving. I use a 2kg dumbbell but a large tin of tomatoes or 2litre bottle of water will do the job.
so i have wondered about temu fabric and a church friend bought me a layer cake to try and it does not feel bad but that may change once i start cutting and piecing, thank you for another great video
That looks great. Who would think it was cheap fabric. There are all different kinds of fabric. There are cheap fabrics which I have never had any trouble with in regards to colour running, fraying, and too thin but then there has been cheap fabric that I was best to have left in the shop! On the other hand I have bought expensive fabric from a patchwork shop and it frayed like mad and nearly drove me crazy trying to sew it. I would have been better off just buying the cheaper version. You have done a beautiful job with your fabrics. You have a great sense of putting colour together and making things look just right.
Hi! Thank you so much, I definitely share your experience, it's not about how much they cost, it's how they're made really and what better suits our needs. Happy quilting! 😁
The problem with cheap fabrics in a quilt is that they fade much more easily and wear out causing the quilt top to tear or fray. Personally, if I am going to spend so much time and energy making a quilt, I want it to last.
I canceled my Mrs Quilty subscription after 6 months. It seemed to me that the fabric was all the same, small florals. I asked if there was more than one option for fabric, at that time there was not.
Hi. How long ago was that? I haven't received many boxes yet but from what I see in the Facebook community there are quite a few boxes down the line I would love to own 😊
i think there is cheap fabric and too cheap fabric. I used to buy cheap ones when I started sewing but now with more knowledge and experience i go for the more expensive organic ones. I dont want to support sellers who exploit people and our earth.
What do you guys consider cheap fabric? How much per yard if it’s too cheap you’re going to pay for it in the long run because your project will probably fall apart
Well, I can only speak for the ones I use, like the polka dots. I've been using them for years now and they're holding up great! I wash my pet blankets and beds constantly and they look great. The colors fades a little, but I've had that happen with expensive designer fabric too!
@ well if you are in Europe, your fabric is better quality than what we get here in the United States. Have you heard of these two products one helps you keep the color. The other one will remove the color if it accidentally fades into others. Retayne and Synthrapol
@dcwatashi I had no idea location made a difference in fabric quality. Inise my anti bleeding sheets when washing my quilts but I never heard of those brands, I'll have to see what similar products are out here. Thank you 😊
I know, right? Yesterday I went to a restaurant and they charged me for the food! It's crazy how people actually make money when they should do it for free!! And pay their bills out of good feelings and stuff!

I love you, Sandy, but Mrs. Quilty is a pyramid scheme. :(

Well, that is the whole point of the box upgrades: better, one of a kind fabrics. Happy quilting 😁

I can't believe how many time saving tips in one video.
When cutting, put a heavy weight at the top of your ruler to stop it from moving. I use a 2kg dumbbell but a large tin of tomatoes or 2litre bottle of water will do the job.
Love that!
That is gorgeous Sandy ❤
thank you so much! 😀
Looks great, and so easy! Thanks.
It is! 😀
Beautiful, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
so i have wondered about temu fabric and a church friend bought me a layer cake to try and it does not feel bad but that may change once i start cutting and piecing, thank you for another great video
Thank you, good to know, I've never tried it.
I've bought and used temu fabrics and jelly rolls. They're great!
I bought a charm pack from Temu and it immediately went into the donation box. I swear I could almost read the newspaper through it.😢
Hey Sandy! How do you feel about prewashing your fabric before cutting?
Hi. Personally I don't do it, but it really is a matter of personal preference.
That looks great. Who would think it was cheap fabric. There are all different kinds of fabric. Hi mija love watching your videos it helps me, I have trouble making quilts I make them with bandanas
Hi! Thank you. Bandana quilts must look awesome! 😁
Rainbow wash is absolutely your signature!
Do you have a plan yet for the bits you trimmed off?
I love that, thank you. Not yet, but I'm sure I'll find a scrappy project to put them to good use. Any suggestions? 😊
Maybe add scrappy binding and do a garland or bunting of some type?
@KGlena-kx1df that's a great idea! Thank you 😊

That makes sense, although as far as fading I've seen it happen with expensive designer fabrics too!
I canceled my Mrs Quilty subscription after 6 months. It seemed to me that the fabric was all the same, small florals. I asked if there was more than one option for fabric, at that time there was not.

Where I live I find so little organic fabrics, and most are solids, which is such a shame!

@ oh and yes location makes a difference
I bought fabric in Germany, WAY BETTER QUALITY
Her fabric is usually so wild and often gaudy it could be prettier
So this is really an ad.

I don't like this way of making hst's as the edges are all bias.
