    Sometimes people in the bodybuilding world who have a good command of their diet don't understand how others struggle. They don't understand how people cant understand labels and can't pick out the lies on labels. This is a great video! Being a type 1 diabetic Brent has learned from an early age the importance of diet. I really like how you go over the labels. Excellent tips!

    6:10 The chicken breasts that are half the price are weighed down with 50% added water in some cases (e.g. Aldi, Walmart). The half price brand he put in his cart, however, is actually really good quality and not waterlogged beyond belief.

      @@muscleandstrength"Contains up to 15% Chicken Broth, Carrageenan and Salt." That's what my Heritage Farm package of "Boneless Skinless Fresh Chicken Breasts With Rib Meat" says anyway. The packaged pre-cut tenders are a little better, though.

    • @douglasmurphy3266
      @douglasmurphy3266 Год назад

      The only way to know is to compare your cooked weight to your raw.
      Actual meat should cook down to 75%
      If 15% is added, that is gone from the top and you cook down 25% of whats actual real meat from there. So 100oz of "chicken" x 0.85 to remove filler = 85oz of chicken.
      85oz of real chicken x 0.75 cooking process = 63.75oz cooked chicken
      Another thing is that nasty pad that soaks up the juice is included in the weight you are paying.

    The spray “butter” works out to about 1g fat per 5 pumps. So just keep it to a little bit instead of hosing your food down.
    Same goes for no-stick spray too: 1 second ≈ 1.5 gram of fat. The whole point of a spray is to deliver a thin even layer, so a little goes a long way.
    More to the point though, be careful with “free” foods. If you can’t trust yourself around them, either assign them a couple grams of macros so they’re not free anymore or just don’t use them.
    (Not judging, btw. I’ve been that guy, that’s why I know those products’ real caloric values.)

    I agree store brands can be good if you compare the ingredients & nutrition facts against the competition to make the better choice financially & for health/ results. No preservatives, artificial ingredients, GMO’s, & sugar, etc. is best even if another product costs a little bit more.

    The fact that chicken tenderloins are half the price of chicken breast shows your average consumer doesn't understand anything about meat! Tenderloins are essentially the fillet of chicken. It is part of the breast! More tender and with more flavour while still lean.

    I don't get the butter thing.
    If they put 0 calories on it, I think the allowable tolerance by law is what like 10% from stated values? So it could technically have up to .1 calories per spray. So what if you use 50 sprays (I don't... but just saying) that'd be like 5 calories.
    It's also odd that directly after that we segway into the mustard which also claims zero calories.....
