Who needs a gym membership when you can try to fire up a Hatz diesel with a hand crank lol That looked absolutely exhausting! Hope it starts next time. Keep up the great work!

Yep, done that. I had a Hatz engine in a small forwarder. It was coupled with a hydraulic pump, which made it virtually impossible to start cold. I served my sentence with it, the forwarder broke, donated the engine to a friend.

Kudos to your software manuf. for including a speed up mode that was still fun to watch.

Hi guys! Pro tip; it looks that this engine has some kind of fixed rpm thing, release it and make sure that you can adjust lever to max rpm.
If you look below the pump unit, there is a small knob. Adjust rpm lever to max position and pull that knob, it should came out something like 4-7mm and then you have forced injection engaged. It’s automatic, so if you gently lower the rpm it will go to run position.
It should then start without Zündfix easily. If not, there is something more to inspect. These are really durable engines, but air leaks, wrong valve clearances, worn rod or worn piston pin turns these to gym equipment.

I live in Mongolia (extremely cold winters) and I relate to the problems of getting a diesel going after after it’s gotten cold.
Mine is a diesel generator with a pull start. It’s a nightmare to start unless it’s bee. Sitting at room temperature.

A bit of crank case oil inside the combustion chamber would greatly increase your Engines compression ratio for faster start-ups.

This is fascinating. Could you comment a little more on the vegetable oil thing?

    • @progressivedynamicsolution1769
      @progressivedynamicsolution1769  4 года назад +3

The idea was to preheat the vegetable oil because it doesnt burn as easily as diesel in the engine. We may revisit that idea once this engine runs reliably.

  • @wmden1

That thing is a killer. Set up a gas or electric motor, belt, and pulley to whirl it over with. Set a good hair dryer on high and blow it through the intake, while turning it. You might also, crack your fuel line, at the injector and make sure you are getting fuel up to the injector. If not, turn the engine over, or pump the primer pump, if it has one, with the line cracked until you see fuel. Then tighten the line fitting, and try cranking it. If you didn't t get fuel, you have a fuel supply problem, as in pump, too much air in the system, or stopped up line.

Just put a bit motor oil in the intake. IT create higher compression/higher temp. Works great

    ROTFLMAO !!!
Not a clue !!! So, I'll give you three tips.....
    1. It's a diesel engine. Try running it on diesel. ONLY after you've got diesel going into it....
    2. Fill the oil primer with oil and squirt it into the cylinder. And then,
    3. set the injection pump to excess fuel....
    4. Crank the engine over a couple of times
    5. Then start the f*cking thing - if you're strong enough - I know I'm not - damned Hatz engines !
    6. Once it's running, run away - go make a coffee while it warms up.
    7. Return to it once warm, reduce engine RPM (to a tick-over) so you can hear yourself think, then it'll be ready for driving things. Deisels don't have a lot of power when cold. Hatz diesels have none.
    Best of luck.
Oh, and the burney thing/wick - that's for cold starting it but you'd probably do better throwing the whole damn engine in a fire !
Starting one of those is great for warming YOU up ;)
