Saw Freddys Dead in the cinema and can confirm that those are the correct glasses that we used, albeit mine have the odean cinema trademark and freddys dead on them. Could never get them to work on vhs but convinced myself it worked. In the cinema tho it was mind blowing. Those flying demon heads coming out of the screen I still vividly remember.

Hi, great video. Im lucky enough to own a: A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 VHS MEDIA 1989 copy. Yes, a pre 1990 version just before they cut it; and yes, I still have a VHS player, and its hooked up to a 2013 Panasonic ZT60 Plazma (still to good to upgrade, yet) working through a Marantz Amp and the sound coming through Monitor Audio Silver speakers. I have also ordered the A Nightmare on Elm Street 4K version, and I wil be adding a 4K projector to put over the TV. Only Freddy can make me jump to 4K
The Nightmare DVD box is my favorite set in my entire collection. It's perfection! So glad I bought it from my local FYE back in 2009. It was the set that store ever sold.
You inspired me to buy the 1999 DVD box set and it finally arrived today a month after I bought it. It's a gorgeous box set and I'm excited to check out each disc. Haven't been able to find ES5 Uncut though, but I saw some of the kills and they definitely improve the film.
Keep these Collector Guides coming! That DVD boxset was one of the first I bought I on DVD. Loved how they had the interactive game to play on the last disc.
The front of the Freddy's Dead glasses from the LaserDisc match the glasses that were given out in the theater. The back of the theatrical 3-D glasses had little ads for "House Party II" and "Deep Cover", as well as little breakaway coupons for Barq's root beer.
I own the 1999 DVD collection that came with 3d glasses to watch the ending of Freddy's Dead with. It also came with a small booklet to read info about the flicks but I lost it lol but still have the 3d glasses. I also have the VHS collection still in the plastic it came in I got it just for the sake of having it for the collection. I plan to pick up the Bluray set just for the sake of better picture quality.
I never had the VHS boxed set but have the DVD. Back in the day I think I payed like $40 for it but worth every penny. Good showing and cool video Christian!👉😃👈
After the great Friday set I wanted the Nightmare set. Yrs ago they had Nightmare 1 and New Nightmare as a 2 dvd set my mom picked that up for me. Had that for years then I thought this year, Scream will not put out the Nightmare films. I looked at the blu ray set and I think it was cheap like $35 but I did not want that set even though it was some what better PQ and Audio. I went with that DVD set bought it for $13! Sits next to my Friday set. Could not be happier!
I am fortunate to have purchased that beautiful dvd box set. Found it in the wild at a Best Buy some time before 2010. I was hoping that you were gonna give it some praise and was glad to wait till the end.
I really wish scream factory releases one day a big box set like the Friday the 13th one! For goodness sake, if critters has a box set before Freddy, then i convinced that tram will become president again
I love the amount of detail in this video, and your collection is admirable. Each one of the nightmare movies left their own impression on me including the remakes. I’m glad I’m not the only one lol
The glasses are VERY similar to the ones in the theater, they had an add for Suburban Commando on the back side, and I think there was a tagline on the side under Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (like: They save the best for last)
Awesome review. I have the VHS single set. All seven films. I Got it at Suncoast way back in the day. Back when they where still in business. They still play great till this day. I can always relate to physical media. You can watch it at any time.
I only have the DVD big box set myself. I love the original theatrical posters on each dvd case. I wish more modern films used artist renders for their posters.
The same thing were being said about vinyls records like 10 years ago and back and look! Who knows maybe VHS will make a small comeback. I still have 100s of VHS and keep collecting. But yeah I have only paid $35 for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but usually pay $3 or $5 or so for the best horror movies. I have seen videocassettes most of the times for a quarter or $1 but it's extremely common titles.🤔
@@bryangarcia5599 and we the fans wouldnt care lol. Plenty of other films have been released with their "uncut" footage edited in in standard def and theres just a discalimer at the beginning of the movie. I dont think any of us Nightmare fans would be upset with that for Dream Child.
My hope is for a Shout Factory release but only if they do an extra disc for 1, 5, 6, FvJ, and the remake with the deleted and uncut scenes put back in to the movie along with all the bonus stuff that's been put out over the years.
Pulled the trigger on the blu set done thinking something better will come along anytime soon I've had the dvd set for years one of my earliest horror Christmas gifts come to think of it. I will say there is a bit of a jump in picture quality between the dvd set and blu.
I owned the VHS box set, but unfortunately its in my old home and I am not able to get there to clean the house out. On the bright side, my friend has the box set as well and he got his Elm Street 3 signed by Patricia Arquette while she was filming for Escape at Dannemora (he was a local and of course is a fan of the franchise).
I remember how excited I was with the black box set and must have spent hours with it. As a kid, I couldn't afford it but was finally able to get a used set that was still expensive months later. As much as I loved it then, I don't think it's essential to own today. The infinifilm edition of the first was released on DVD a few years later and was superior in every way. The flipper DVD discs which came out shortly after presented two different versions of the films, one of which was full frame (notable because many of the NOES films were shot open matte which was how people who grew up with the series on VHS and TV remember them). Not saying that those flipper editions were better, but at least they present a unique way of watching these films even today. Also wasn't a fan of the snap cases or how they shrunk the original art. Compare these to the German blu ray books which look stunning and properly showcase the poster art. Having said all that, I did appreciate the box set at the time and wish the series was shown this much love today.
The only physical form of the Elm Street films I have is the 1999 DVD box set that came with the press kit & 3D glasses and the 8th disc with the labyrinth like game.
I remember that for the longest time you could walk into walmart and buy that 1999 box set. I got it for Christimas in like 2002. The box is pretty worn, but I still have it.
I had all the original VHS releases. I pre-ordered the DVD box set back in the day and then sold my VHS set. I kind of regret selling the two tape set for the first movie because the second tape had some exclusives that I'm not sure I've seen anywhere else
I don't know about the glasses in the Freddy's Dead laserdisc but I have a pair from the theatre and the reverse side has an ad for House Party 2 and on the outside has the title and tag line on the left arm and just the tag line on the right arm. Now, I'm in Canada and the inside has the Canadian distributor logo, I think the US pair have different ads inside.
It's really cool that the German media books of Freddy's Dead/New Nightmare are called Nightmare on Elm Street 6/7 on the covers with the numbers at the end, I've never seen that anywhere else.
There is a bigger bluray boxset floating around, but it must be a UK release. It's exactly the same art work, layout, and disc content as your single case one, but this one has 3 separate cases inside the box, and the box has a slipcover too. Essentially it just looks better on the display shelf, which that nice dvd set would do too. But HD trumps SD for me
The artwork on that Freddy’s Dead Laserdisc is so pristine! I unfortunately don’t own that badass DVD boxset but other than that the only thing I was missing from my collection was the Never Sleep Again documentary blu-ray which I just ordered from Amazon. Haven’t seen that yet so I’m pretty pumped to check it out
I the DVD box set and I'm happy to have in my collection. Scream factory really is working hard to get the rights to make a box set. It's probably not going to any time soon.
I have both the VHS and DVD box sets from 1999. Both sets are great with behind the scenes stuff after the film on the VHS set. I think the Dream Child VHS is uncut but haven't watched the set in years. Never bought the Blu-Ray's because of the double film on one disc stuff
another great video Christian unfortunately Warner Brothers hasn't released a lot of Nightmare On Elm Street physical media unlike Paramount who is still killing it to this day with awesome releases. Hopefully one day we will get the nice Blu-ray boxset but I have the original Boxset from New Line which my friend got me for my birthday I love it and it has the snapper cases with the great artwork. I also got the first Blu-ray boxset that you talked about not being the best I haven't watched it yet and I also have the Infini film DVD for the original Nightmare on Elm Street I will have to pick up the other movie collection you showed that came out in 2010 I definitely want an uncut Dream Child I love that film
I know it’s not the poster art but I really love those dvds with the red boarder. Those are some of the first horror dvds I remember my dad getting for me. I was probably in the second grade and he picked me up for the weekend and when we got to the car he pulled out a bag from the back and it had a few of those nightmare dvds.
I spent $100 for the dvd box set and $200 for the VHS box set both on ebay. I know im crazy but i had the money and i really wanted them, especially since both were still sealed
I bought the standard BR set on sale for $20 2 years ago. Came with a slip and has them all so I can't complain! Wouldn't mind a dream warriors 4k tho...
Just find this Brand new for $40 on eBay!! After watching this, I decided to go with the DVD set over the latest Blu-ray because it seems like it’s the definitive set for now, so I’ll sacrifice picture quality.
I've never seen the uncut version of 'The Dream Child'; I wasn't aware that it was ever available on any format, here or elsewhere. I'll have to look into finding a rip of that somewhere. The VHS collection box set...I bought it when it came out. It has some minor shelf wear. I'm in the process of moving and I honestly don't want it. I don't have an interest in selling it, I'll give it to you if you're interested. Enjoyed the video, thanks for posting.
I recently bought the VHS boxset brand new on ebay for $60. Yea, a touch expensive, but i was super excited to have found it. We need a scream factory blu ray/4k set
@@tellemstevedave5559 thats what happens when people dont know how to properly title their shit on ebay lol. You find these obscure listings and get super lucky tbh
I had 1, 4, 7, and Freddy vs Jason on tape at like 3 years old. Watched them to death. When the trailer for the remake came out I was 9 or 10 I rented three and five in video and more, watched Freddy's Dead online, and then saw the remake in theaters shortly after my 10th birthday. I borrowed the DVD box set where the spine's all connect and you could put the discs in old laptops and read the screenplay without the internet. That's when I finally saw 2. I loved that a computer Freddy would take over the laptop for a bit. Now I have a copy of the original by itself, a four pack of 1-4, and a two pack of five and six. All DVDs. Then I got a DVD of wes's New Nightmare, the remake, and FVJ. FVJ I also have in the limited Friday the 13th Bluray box set and it's my only bluray of the Freddy franchise. Lastly I have a two pack of 1 & the remake from when I was out of town and I have the documentary on DVD too. I really fuckin want Freddy's Nightmares but I don't have a region free player. Also don't have a VCR anymore sadly. I put this franchise above most horror anything.
I would love to own a copy of Freddy's Dead uncut bluray. Is there still a way to get it through your friend? Also did you ever play the CD-ROM game that came with the DVD NOES boxset? I remember starting it but never finished it.
Once upon a time I had the box set you suggest as well as the individual DVDs. Don’t quote me on this, but if I remember correctly the audio mastering on the cool box set was absolutely awful and I ended up getting rid of it. Now, as a physical media collector, I greatly regret it, due to the aesthetics of it. But if my memory serves me right, that release is quite bad, minus the incredible packaging. Be curious if you noticed the same thing? Bummer it uses those cardboard cases too. Those suck!
I agree. I'm not surprised that these sets are relatively cheap on Ebay. However, I imagine an intact set in good condition with the book and glasses could still be a worthy collectors item. I couldn't even afford a brand new set when it came out and only owned a badly beat up version which I didn't feel bad parting with. I ended up getting rid of the discs from this set and hanging on to the flipper discs which I bought later just because I wanted the films in full screen (a lot of the films are open matte) and didn't want to invest in VHS.
@@politefan8141 It's funny, I recently saw the set at a bookstore for about $30. So there are some well priced sets out there. It could still be a worthy collector's item, but I think owning them in the red box DVD's are the way to go for audio and picture quality. I'm sure the VHS set that exists is pretty pricy.
just like you i found the dvd box set for only 30 dollars out in the wild. it was at a used bookstore. I bought it immediately but it is in worse condition than yours.
@@PlanetCHH It probably wouldn't be a Box set but I would go for individual releases limited edition like they've been doing with a lot of their releases lately
Here is my concern with DVDS. they look atrocious on my 77inch OLED 4K TV when I use my PS5 as my Blu-Ray player. Should be using a stand-alone 4K Blu-Ray Player? do those have better upscaling than the PS5 ?
How’s the picture and audio quality on the dvd box set compared to the blu ray box set ? I currently own the blu ray box set and I was waiting for a 4k release or something special but I’m giving up ? I want the dvd set but just want to know about the quality compared to the blu ray set ?
I still remember the nightmare in elm street boxet coming in the mail in 1999 and I opened it with my fiance who is now my wife it's a vivid memory.

The VHS collection box set...I bought it when it came out. It has some minor shelf wear. I'm in the process of moving and I honestly don't want it. I don't have an interest in selling it, I'll give it to you if you're interested.
Enjoyed the video, thanks for posting.
Yea omg I want it! Email me at christianhanna@ymail.com or find me on Instagram or Twitter @planetchh
Yo yo yo are you there! I want it so bad!
I have that shirt as well
This video makes me want to pop the Nightmare Encyclopedia in an go explore the Labyrinth again!
Yes!
I'll wait and grab them when they remaster them and put them on 4K blu-ray
It’s actually kind of sad they haven’t released a full box set of all the movies in 4K
The U.K.VHS(s) of the original Elm St and Dream Child are uncut.
Do any of the nightmare on elm street boxsets have behind the scenes and if so which ones do?
I recently bought the VHS boxset brand new on ebay for $60. Yea, a touch expensive, but i was super excited to have found it. We need a scream factory blu ray/4k set
I need the vhs box set
That's an incredible deal. It normally goes for over $250 brand new
@@tellemstevedave5559 thats what happens when people dont know how to properly title their shit on ebay lol. You find these obscure listings and get super lucky tbh
How is there not a 4K set by now? They're totally missing out on a lot of money.
What music is playing in the background, pretty cool.
My copy of the original that is not in. A pack is the infinifilm one.
Yeah the Elm Street DVD box set. I borrowed that religiously to marathon before I owned them all.
Freddy’s the best 🙌🏻🔥
Hi
Hi!
I found a nightmare on elm street 1999 new line box set for pretty cheap, I love the movies should I get it I’m still trying to decide 😅???
I would love to own a copy of Freddy's Dead uncut bluray. Is there still a way to get it through your friend? Also did you ever play the CD-ROM game that came with the DVD NOES boxset? I remember starting it but never finished it.
The 1999 box set does that include the uncut version of part 5
My FYE charges an arm and a leg for most things.

I seriously want to know who did that awesome cover of the Trioxin Theme?
Yours truly
@@PlanetCHH Whoa… that’s freaking awesome! 😃
I have The best DVD set & that basic Blu Ray set. WB/New Line needs to link up with Scream Factory. The fans deserve a proper upgraded Blu Ray set.
🎉🎉🎉yes
just like you i found the dvd box set for only 30 dollars out in the wild. it was at a used bookstore. I bought it immediately but it is in worse condition than yours.
Is there any way to be able to contact your friend who made that uncut bootleg of 5 for you? I’d definitely pay for that!
Do hellraiser next!!!
I can't believe I'm gonna say this but forget about scream factory for a second. Even arrow would do a good job with this series.
im sure they would do great
@@PlanetCHH It probably wouldn't be a Box set but I would go for individual releases limited edition like they've been doing with a lot of their releases lately
Here is my concern with DVDS. they look atrocious on my 77inch OLED 4K TV when I use my PS5 as my Blu-Ray player. Should be using a stand-alone 4K Blu-Ray Player? do those have better upscaling than the PS5 ?
You know what is crazy is that I got the VHS box set from my neighbor for 20 bucks
I think there are particular US vhs copies that have dream child uncut
yes. also the laserdisc which i own is uncut
Look for the copies with a yellow star on the front that says "uncensored version".
How’s the picture and audio quality on the dvd box set compared to the blu ray box set ? I currently own the blu ray box set and I was waiting for a 4k release or something special but I’m giving up ? I want the dvd set but just want to know about the quality compared to the blu ray set ?
