possssssibly the most epic piece of filmmaking gear ever haha
Dont show this to Pete.. He will have the crane adapted to his Ford Raptor.
Haha, no shit Sherlock
Jhe.
McKinnon will attempt to hold that crane in his hand and vlog.
I'd be scared to accidentally smack the crane into something while going fast.
As someone who loves cars and camera gear, this was guaranteed to catch my attention.
Hey mumbo
Hi mumbo
The gimbal mounted on the jeep now seems cheap lol
buddyyy
I could only imagine how your stuff would turn out if you used something like this. The only downfall is there has to be a huge crew
there's something magical about watching someone incredibly good at their job talk passionately about their job
I agree x10
My favorite thing is seeing these being driven around LA randomly!
I assume they designed them with clearance for In-N-Out drive thrus.
The arm just reaches in to the back of the kitchen
@@BlakeGrigsby why u stopped uploading videos on your channel?
@@BlakeGrigsby you're close to a million subs.
So this is what I saw driving around Downtown LA a few months ago
Clients be like: Yeah I want that but my Budget is like 150$ and you will get sooo much exposure!
hahah
You get offered $150 I just get the clout spill
$150 dollars get's you the longboard setup he was talking about in the beginning and shot with my iPhone SE on a DJI Osmo.
this is the funniest comment:) :) I'm gonna stop reading comments on this one in order not to spoil the feeling
I’m used to film on a DSLR and was always like, "The RED's a pretty big camera."
Yesterday on set we used an ARRI Amira and some guy brought his RED to film some bts and I was like, "What a small little thing that is."
a red camera just to record bts? what are you in, the 1%?
@@cardboardpackage I didn't say it was mine … It's a guy from my school who helped out and brought his own camera, from his company
@@leondebla1985 you are in school and someone already owns their own company? you really are in the 1%
@@cardboardpackage Why would he be in the 1%? Shouldn't it be the person who owned and brought the camera?
@@cardboardpackage It's not that uncommon.
$200 clients be like: “so can you do this?”
Meanwhile, Gene be like: “ok cool, so rig this up and then I’m gonna vlog with it.”
So true! And also, How did Potato convince these guys to work for free for his vlog?? Or did he pay their full day rate, don't know what that would cost but I'm guessing it's not cheap.
@@danielbrennan8692 I feel like buddy reached out to him lol
@@danielbrennan8692 Have you seen the other things he's bought? practicality is not a concern... :p
@@ThatFlyinRyan who's buddy? I'm feeling left out. hahah.
@@bradpaulp For real, I have the wrong buddies I guess. =)
I am the guy featured and omg what an experience... Like WHAT????? WHAT????? THANK YOU SOOO MUCH GENE!!!!
“Kids are watching this“?
Dude the kid from UP is right next to you 😂
wait what haha
OK bring it UP again!
HAHAHAHAHA
I was like... Where is that kid? and... Hahaha
I just ordered one of these on Amazon. Can't wait to try it out with my GoPro 5!
It's seems like there is no limit to camera gear and camera tech 😩 but I love it all so much though! 🥴 Dope video Potato!🤘🏾
Feel ya pain bro 😥🙏
Cool, was looking for something like that
"Today's mission is to try to get some dope shots of my Jeep" That thing is so wonderful that it will surely look splendid from any angle!
This seriously next level.
Really enjoyed this video, Gene! Very fun look into these cars. 🤓👍💜
"Kids I'm sorry. I apologize. I'm an Italian." As a fellow Italian, I understand.
As a friend of a Italian I’ve heard this line many times.
Wow, that's great! and really a happy hand to Ultimate Arm, who cooperated you the most and enjoyed with you!
I love your „behind the scenes of hollywood tech“ videos and the fact that you seem to know everybody 😂 The Top Gear zoom shot was so crazy!
This type of content is what attracted me to your channel. I love taking a peak at what Hollywood uses to make their films, not the latest consumer gear review that gets released. I feel that RUclipsrs fall into the trap of pushing out reviews of the latest gear that brands release. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
“Your package is so small”
Potato: 😦
This guy is a legend. Why can’t all RUclips video titles be like this when it’s a question? Some people can’t watch a whole 20 minute video just for one short answer
"this is so much nicer than filming out a window" - Potato Jet 2019
its an amazing feeling when you can connect with your gears, cameras, ect. and seeing your work afterwards is fulfilling..
Why is nobody talking about the guy in the back at 5:32. LOL REJECTEEEEED
5:50 two times haha
@@karlandreasenstrom942 hahahah
Thats the comment I was looking for!!!
Feel sad about it
Potato, you are kicking butt with your content. This kind of video is so much better than reviewing the latest gimbal, light, mic etc. It's so cool being able to see full on professional shooting stuff like this that I don't get to see otherwise.
This is a lie
The cameraman just run with the camera
And he is fast
Man dude its crazy how cool it is to watch your channel grow and you being able to show us so much amazing things inside the filming world. So glad I subscribed years ago, you’re awesome man keep the amazing content coming and here’s to even more growth!
Niceee the new upcoming "UP" movie will feature the kid driving a Jeep
Tom Kushal damn that is a good idea
this is litteraly the first ever video that was so amazing that i was constantly wow'ing if thats even a thing
I can totally see one of these arms getting attached to a Tesla Cybertruck.
That would be SICK, bro 🔥
I've discovered Potato Jet a bit late, but still glad I did! He's a natural in front of and behind the camera. Very entertaining and informative; keep it up!
That guy sounds like an older Steve-O 😂
TJ Thunder You know you can be older than 45 right?
Seriously you, Peter and Mattis videos keeps getting better after every video which keeps my creative juices flowing. Keep up the work!!!
Incredibly epic. Always wondered how they did it in the movies
There is a lot of stuff that goes in the film industry, thanks to potatoes jet for bringing all this to light
Potato Jet just casually rubbing shoulders with Academy Award winners Ultimate Arm!
Potato your videos and overall content are just the best! Very RUclipsrs I've watched keep me so entertained in so many different ways while still teaching me new technology and new ways of thinking. Thanks for all your hard work on your channel - really appreciate it!
Why go to Film School when you can get tons of information on this channel?! Thanks Gene! Keep making these Hollywood tech series.
Dude when you hang out with the master Avi Cohen you are doing something very right. What a nice one!
as algerian filmmaker i see that this is the best chanell for filmmaking things
Potato Jet is the only RUclipsr that can actually get his hands on a Arri alexa camera 🎥 and then do a episode on a bad ass car chasing movie gimbal crane. RESPECT ✊.
Do they have one for Hot Wheels
Your content is so informative, and underrated! You are an awesome resource for the film community and it's awesome to see videos like these that really show the scope and high level of work it takes to produce films and videos and the behind the scenes look at talented companies and crew that even make getting amazing shots possible. It's interesting to hear opinions and testimony from people working in this industry.
@1:47 It's for sure the fastest 6 seater camera car in the world, I have confidence in that" - I wonder how it compares to the Tesla P100D Camera car? I know the CTS V is heavily modified but Tesla has wicked acceleration and it's also quiet which I'm sure for certain scenes that could be a major plus, also it has the option to add 7 seats 2 which are rear facing.
Armando Ferreira Tesla doesn’t match this lol
Rigo Juarez Tesla is much faster lol and has instant torque with no turbo lag
Armando Ferreira lol you are wrong sir...ctsv has no turbo lag it is supercharged meaning instant tourque as well...what makes the Tesla unique is it’s all wheel drive...but this ctsv is faster I promise you
Rigo Juarez whatever you say 👌🏽
@@RigoJuarez You don't know what you're talking about, just go on RUclips and type in "Tesla Model S VS CTS V" and watch all of those Model S destroy it. There's even one with 1000 HP and running slicks and the Tesla mirked it! Electric cars are faster period, hence why Tesla is running the quickest cars and with the roadster coming soon they're going to destroy any car out on the road!
That was your best video yet! Love seeing the tech and behind the scenes stuff. Now we will expect these same type of shots in future videos!
Obviously need to hook up the Arri Alexa LF next time...
Wow! Brilliance! Absolutely amazing! Thank goodness for sharing this Potato Jet. This is an excellent inside perspective on hours those awesome car scenes and shots are done/made. Very cool! I’m looking forward to your podcast interview/conversation that will take a deeper dive into the mechanics and functionality of the crane and it’s operator(s).
Bruh, I be out here with my selfie stick thinking I'M hot crap
What a great insight to the filming these angles. Thank you, found this really interesting and all the people you work with seem really calm and nice.
good shots
Thank you for making awesome videos like this. It seems like the Ultimate Arm crew is a cool team with nice friendly people. I love it!
Would love it if you ended up putting an affiliate link for the crane in the description!!! :-D
Loving all this new proper cinematic stuff!! Like the massive RED cameras and this crane!! This is awesome! Real life cinema stuff!!
Done watching even before it was in notification.
More than the cool tech in this episode, the vibe between all you guys is infectious. I am sure any project will turn out good if you work with people live Avi and the Ultimate Arm team.
You should actually make and direct a live act UP movie!
All black everything for the Ultimate Arm Team. Great new vid, Gene!
You should have come here instead of the hospital when you broke your arm!
You guys keep leveling up. Great job on the video!
Ugh too bad it was aired on the 'new' Top Gear episode! They need to get that on the Grand Tour!
Slide Wreck Dan Hell yeah! TGT is what we want, not the nowadays TG.
I've always loved that CTS-V Wagon, now I love it even more. This set up just blew my mind.
Mom: what are you watching?
Me: *pOtAtO jEt*
Go Avi!!! Legend
Why do they say “Iris” instead of “aperture”?
The aperature is the size of the opening in the iris.
all cinema cameras display the aperture as iris !! that was the first i get confused when i had to operate a BM ursa 4.6k for the first time ! but technicaly just as Velo Dan said !
I remember VHS cameras say "IRIS" instead.
Only because of historic reasons. Movie industry uses iris, still photographers use the term aperture.
one of your best videos to date!!! Sooooo much fun , and that endo!!!!!!! What!!???
Saw the Mercedes ML one about two years ago down on South Beach when I was there, still curious what they were filming up to now?
Bro this type of content.....Awsome, you da best potato...
“They keep talking about how small my ‘package’ is” 😂😂😂
What is this beast??? Wow wow wow and avi brother’s bike stunt was LIT!!!
Am i just saw a warp stabilizer at 4:01??? :O
I want to see someone vlog with this setup. The look on bystanders when driving around was priceless.
What do your neighbors think with the "camera crew" driving up and down the street? 😊
CRAZY inspired, BRAINY and Visioneers up on their GAME! Kudos!
Potato jet: I want one of these things so bad now!!
Everyone else: we’re not surprised
not gonna lie, i went into this episode just thinking... well theres nothing better to watch right now so i guess this will have to do but the little guy from up really crushed it on this one! This was actually pretty awesome! Thanks dude!
Purchase link?
Not that I could ever afford one anyway.
Did you check Amazon? I got mine expressed to me for next Thursday. Pays to be a Prime Sucker! lol
@@chrisklugh It's available on cash on delivery right?
@@promitroy95 I don't have that kind of cash lying around! I sold a kidney awhile back to put down as first payment to a very large line of credit so I can impulse buy a big expensive thing like this Ultimate Arm!
Just in case you didn't understand the sarcasm, you can't buy one of these. It would have been nice if they'd mentioned how much it costs to rent though.
What are you talking about? I got mine a few days ago. I use it to Vlog my trips to the grocery store... cause that's mostly what I will probably use it for...
Epic, there is no other word that can describe this! I love it. I just order the CRANE 3S PRO, and cannot wait to play with it.
Do you remember the kid from the movie UP this is him now
Radical film crews... what could be cooler than working with that group..!!
When he said “140lb” i was like “i wanna sit!!” Lol
I miss these guys. When lockdown is over and next time I get to work on an arm job, I'm taking so many pictures.
Alright time to rig that up to a 2000HP Nissan GTR now
Trinidad & Tobago in the buildingggg !!!! Thanks for your teaching Potato Jet
5:53 did you see the girl in the back🤔😭😭🤣🤣
Wow- that was a super cool video, Gene! I was so engrossed in it, those 11 minutes flew by before I knew it!
When they make fun of his red
That whole setup is absolutely INSANE! great video man. so sick that you got to go hands on with one.
Potato Jet "i want one of these". Me "get a DJI Rotomaster" =;}
I always wanted to know more about the this tech so I'm really glad you made this video on the Ultimate Arm. Really cool and intriguing! Thanks Gene!
Most of the time they’re not even going a third of the speed they are trying to portray.
Well most of the time they don't have to. It's one of those things where it's good to know you have it and not need it rather than to need it and not have it.
@@JohnVincentJV No, but most films featuring fast cars don't actually have the cars going fast. This car can only go 130 and I bet it handles like a pig so can really only go fast in a straight line.
I am and always stay thankful to you for what you are giving us !
Do you need a permit to film around LA with something like that?
You need a permit to film even a student film with a canon XL1 and your tripod
That was awesome! So nice to get the full gear tour, great content!👌
Why is this episode so short? :(
Harmen Hoek it's amazing that it exists at all
5:33 this fist bump is for you AVI 🤜
Of course it's built on a Cadillac, because why wouldn't it be!? LOL
Super cool video! Thanks for bringing us that. You do some of the coolest videos.
"I'm Italian" 😂
OMG! This has to be my favorite vid. I want a Porsche Cayenne only because of my love for camera cars 😍
Yo I'm just sticking to running, this shite's getting too complicated
Can you feel the passion everybody have, too? So dope!
