How Victorian Ealing changed as seen by two maps

  • Ealing changed considerably in the late nineteenth century from being a large village to being a substantial town. A comparison of the ordnance survey maps showing Ealing’s town centre in 1865 and 1894 help indicate the changes which occurred. Principally there was a great deal of building, especially along the Uxbridge Road, but also to both the north and south of that road. New buildings included the town hall and several churches.

    Would be good to see a similar video further west and south - Ealing Dean and Little Ealing please. Are copies of these maps available online?
