I don't know about everybody else but I generally don't ride much when it's a 100゚...... But man when it cools off get out of my way.. Enjoyed your vid every man has his method Thanks my friend...
I do mostly off road with the Africa Twin and it's super hot so MX gear is better IMO. I wear Alpinestars boots, Mobius knee braces, Alpinestars bionic freeride shorts and MX style pants, Alpinestars, Fox and Mosko Moto Rak pants when it's colder or raining. Leatt 6.5 pro chest protector ( great because it also protects ribs) forcefield elbow pads ( found them on sale at Amazon) Alpinestars supertech, Fox flexair and Troy Lee se scout MX style Jersey's. If it's colder I have the Mosko Moto Rac pullover jacket I can shed if it gets hotter. I also wear the Klim arsenal vest that has a hydration pack, great pockets for snacks and tool kit. I find it's all a work in progress finding what works best. But so far I've been pretty happy with this gear I'm using. It's an inve$tment but I feel it's well worth it. I just try to get everything on sale. I also stumbled upon a company in England that makes a pretty cool jacket and pants out of mesh called Knox Action pro armored shirt and trousers that look interesting for quick trips to the supermarket and stuff around town. It's one of their biggest sellers for this company in Europe. I found it on sale in Ireland but I haven't received it yet. Hope that helps.
Great review, I love my Tech 7, but they are far from waterproof, I ride enduro and get into wet places, the boots flood quickly and stay wet. I ordered a pair of Tech 7 Drystars, which are supposed to be waterproof, but they have been on back order since June! you got a new sub btw, great channel!
I ride in England and Wales in Tech 7 Drystar. Their waterproofing is very good. I've gone across deep water with over the boot trousers, with water at mid calf height and kept my socks dry. If they get totally flooded, they take an age to dry. I did the famously wet Strata Florida in Wales, with I don't know how many water crossings, 10 or more, all deep and in in the boot pants by Adv Spec. I emptied about a litre of water out of the boots but the water was so deep I was worried I'd drown my FE350
Great review - thanks. I had a similar experience. I bought the Oneal's (Riders) first - but the right boot pushed in on my ankle really bad. So, I bought the Alpinestar Tech 3s but they were so stiff (I wear a size 15 so that may be a factor too). So, I bought the "Forma Adventures" - but those were too light and too weak imo. So, I just ordered the Tech 7s and they're going to be delivered tomorrow. Do you happen to know if the tech 7s have changed since 2013? I got mine for $280 from Amazon and now I'm wondering if part of why they were so cheap is because they are the old model. Usually, size 15 will go on sale so that could be it, I'm hoping. They aren't a great color which could be the reason too.
I don't think they have changed. I think new changes are just different models. Most likely size 15's don't sell as much. I have 13 and they sometimes go on sale because they don't sell like average size 10's. . I still have my tech 7's and really like them. Let me know how they work out for you. I also had Forma and I felt they were clunky.
I wish I can wear these boots but unfortunately with the foot shape of the boot itself my wide feet get cramped on em. gotta get a boot that is shaped like the Forma adventures.
How do you find them walking around off the bike? Protection looks first class, but MX boots aren't known for their mobility unfortunately. Its the only thing holding me back from getting a pair
Hi Henry, Thanks for checking out the video. When I'm out riding I honestly don't do much walking around. But when I do they are comfortable enough for me. I've been to a couple of informal outdoor restaurants, gotten gas, I hiked a small section to see some fire damage here in California. Protection is my number one priority everything else comes second to me but I find these boots to be very comfortable on and off the bike. Because they're MX boots obviously they're cumbersome at times but currently you just can't get that type of protection without that size. I don't use my motorcycle for commuting only for pleasure so maybe for me it's just a little bit easier depends on what you do I guess.
@@alpineanalytics Thanks for the informative answer, appreciate it. Protection is also number 1 for me! In terms of other boots that you have tried which also provide maximum protection, are these the most comfortable? (can be MX or other)
Absolutely. As long as you don't mind the extra bulk, they're comfortable and offer quite a lot of protection. I do mostly off-road stuff so I'm not going into a lot of restaurants or stores or things like that. But getting gas and occasionally going into CVS and places like that they're fine. I'm really happy with them for what I use them for.
One of the first things I did is walk out into a creek with my camera, tripod and wearing my brand new Tech 7s. Boy was I mistaken when I assumed they'd at least be waterproof above my instep. NOT!! LOL. Oh well. I still love them but they are Motocross boots. I'm going to get some Sealskinz waterproof socks and see how well they work
Do you feel there is space between your heel and the back of the boot in the tech 7's? Maybe mine are too big, I don't know, but I wear an 11 or 11.5 in shoes and got a size 11 in the tech 7's. I haven't rode in them yet I just noticed when I've put them on that I can hit the back/heel of the boot to the ground and my heel will slide to the back of the boot and then slide back forward when standing. Could it be the sizing or is this normal in this boot?
Hey man, thank you for this. Is that a Jackolope on ya chest? LOL Just swappin over to moto from a life of pretty serious MTB, and lots of blasted parts (and rehabs :-/), and have been leaning MX instead of ADV boots for the protection issues because, you know, "it's" gonna happen. Well, knowing even a 60-year-old me, calm old man these days and all, can get excited, you know, and lower leg maulings from a 300lb motorcycle are not desirable. I currently have a bloody Achilles scab from running the pedal up my leg in a crash and I've been looking at the Tech 7. But that soft part above the heal freaks me a little and I've been leaning Leatt 4.5's for more plastic coverage. Is this my Achilles heal in choosing a boot or am I just barking up an empty tree?
Hi Brian, 🤣That's the leatt jackolope 6.5 on my chest. I wish it was a bit form fitting but at least it's comfortable in high heat. So far I've been super happy with the protection the boots offer. I checked the Achilles area on the boot after I read your post. You're right it's not the most protective part. I never really noticed it. It's rigid leather or synthetic leather but it's definitely not a hard plastic and if you land it you certainly wouldn't be fully protected for sure. If your gun shy in that area and you've had a prior injury you might want to get something that has full hard protection in that area. Does the leatt have hard plastic there?
I love your protection set up. I live in Orange County and it gets hot here.
Chain wax works on the squeak as well.
Thanks for creating this video. Good, thoughtful comments

Excellent review. You look good with that mx outfit too. I will buy the alpinestar tech 7 in full white for my supermoto ride.
Any chance you have a list of your other gear? I like the more motorcross focus gear over the big jackets and pants

I’m in the market for some more rigged boots. I’m on a KTM390 ADV, would you recommend these even on a lighter bike like that?

@@alpineanalytics Only the Tech 7 Enduro Drystar is "waterproof". As far as I know, there are no Tech 10's that are waterproof.
@@mtbsuperninja Ok thnx Paul, that's good to know. Mine are still holding up nicely but when I'm ready for new ones I'll look into those.

I think these boots are made in Asia now.
Thailand is what I saw yesterday, far from Italy
I thought everything was made there....yikes

These boots have a flaw that I can't get over.
