I love your “versus” series! And I love the fact that you are giving your opinion and not just reading the brand’s marketing stuff. I love, love, love the Tech 7. It is so comfortable out of the box and it stays that way. It also really locks into the bike so well when standing. I also love the price. I do not like any bootie (like on the Tech 10), so that kills it for me. I ride trails and enduro, so I can’t stand the stiffness of the Tech 10. If you want the stiffness and support of the Tech 10, then IMO go to the Gaerne SG-12 or the Sidi Crossfire 3 SRS - those two boots are out-of-this world spectacular.
I too ride off road/woods and am on my second set of Tech 7s. My oldest son swears by 10s but he is a diehard motocross rider. Tech 7s are great out of the box. I have 4 screws in my right foot as well as slightly wide feet and the 7s are really comfortable.
I have the tech 10 and would highly recommend. I had tech 7s before and would say u have to get used to the feeling and they will feel bigger but after u get used to a tech 10 they in my opinion are the ultimate boot.
I picked up a TC125 Today I tried the tech 10 and 7. I WAS SO BUMMED. I didn’t feel comfortable on my inner ankle joint was hurting with construction with tech 10. I wasn’t afraid of the price just the fitment so I stepped down to tech 7 also the dealer didn’t have Astars gear. Dream boot destroyed quickly 😢
Agreed. I ran one set of Tech 10's for over 10 years. I just replaced parts (buckles mostly) via A-stars when needed. Before that, I was replacing boots every couple of years. My last set before my 10's were old Tech 8's. I guess for the amount of time the 10's lasted, they paid for themselves. Now I'm buying gear for my kid as well. So I'm trying to save money. I'm giving the 7's a try this year. So far so good.
I use Tech10's on my Supermoto, love the boot. Main issue i have is the fact that the soles, and i don't mean the black inserts, aren't easily changed by yourself. You've to send them to Alpinestars for a sole-replacement. For the Tech7 there are companies like Vibram, that make Supermoto-soles. Just like a Sidi Crossfire 2 has. For the Tech10's there are no alternatives to sending your boots to Alpinestars. Other than that, the Tech10's are great!
One item I've never heard mentioned between these two boots are the buckle locations. The tech 10 has the uppermost two buckles located away from the side of the boot. This feature can-and will-lessen the chance of buckle snag and or damage, (which I have had happen) this is more of a consideration for hard technical riding.
I’ve had my tech 7s for about a year now. I love the fit and they are super confortable. My only complaint is the opening like you mentioned. I have larger calf and wear knee braces. I have the top buckle all the way out and the Velcro barely touches. Other then that a good boot.
i have the tech 7`s and absolutely love them. My only gripe is my soles are starting to get gouges in them. And im not talking about the replaceable section of the sole. They are 6 months old at most but i wouldnt hesitate to buy another pair when the time comes
I absolutely love my tech 7’s, they’re super comfortable out of the box and are perfect for the riding I do. I find that they run slightly large and I’m between a 10.5 and 11 and the size 10 Tech 7 fit my foot absolutely perfect and if I didn’t try them on before I purchased them online I would have got an 11 and it would have been too big and sloppy. I just bought a brand new pair of Tech 7’s for $299 and with that price a brand new pair was too good to pass up. I tried a pair of Tech 10’s and they were too much for the riding I do and the price wasn’t worth it to me. Regardless they’re both amazing boots and that’s why they’re highly recommended by a lot of people.
Your videos are great! Thank you for going into so much detail. I find myself coming to your channel to decide what gear is best for me and my needs, Keep up the great work! Much appreciation from Canada! 🇨🇦
i have a tech10 for 1 year and bought the second one a month ago. use for motocross only. they are the best, to be sure, and they are not rigid enough to make piloting difficult. but there are problems. I already lost one of the fasteners riding and the rubber sole of the inner boot took off. however, there is no better boot in my opinion, for motocross. thanks for the reviews, they are excellent!
My first pair of boots was a first gen set of tech tens. They were absolutely awesome great protection and fit and durability. I think I got close to ten years out of those boots. My next set was a pair of fox instinct offroads. They weren’t bad but no alpinestars. I went from them to a tech 7. Now don’t get me wrong for the price point the tech 7s are a fantastic boot so comfy straight out of the box. Unfortunately for me the heal float and the fact that somewhere on the boot kept catching on my plastics badly I upgraded to the tech 10 newest spec. Yes very stiff straight off the bat but once worn in unreal I feel a lot more stable and protected in the tens.
Great review, thank you. My problem is that I wear a size 15 so it's hard to find boots that big. I bought the "The Rider" Oneils but on my right foot, they pressed in around the ankle in a weird way. So I bought the Tech 3s. They felt SO much more comfortable but felt like a ski boot. I couldnt get my big foot under the shift lever so I extended it. Still, they are too awkward and stiff to wear to say, the grocery store or to walk around. But also the arch on my right boot pressed in and hurt my foot. So, I bought the Forna Adventure boot. They said it was a 15 but in reality it's a 14. Too small, but very easy to operate my shifter. So, now I'm going to buy the Tech 7s and then open up my own boot shop to sell everything else... :) UPDATE: The Tech 7s are just as stiff as the Tech 3s to me. Why cant they make a comfortable walkable MX boot? Forma is WAY too weak and light. Techs are way too stiff. Sidi is weak too..
As a Tech 8 owner I'm wondering if the lack of inserts in the Tech 7 is a deal breaker... But then again $600 for boots is just too much, so I'm definitely leaning towards the 7's. Any other Tech 8 owners out there with advice??
I am in the same boat mate ... I have run tech 8s for the last 20 odd years and just today bought the tech 10s not sure if i made tge right choice... the 8s were great .... booty, easy break in great durability
Currently running Tech7s and overall I am very pleased with them. They broke in faster than I initially thought they would, and I like the support and peg feel they offer. Plus I love the way they look. I did have to go up 1/2 size to get the best fit though. (11, my foot is 10.5) Compared to my SG-12s they have a slightly higher toe box so shifting took me bit of time to readjust to. I only have two minor complaints with the 7s ....one, they squeak A LOT when walking. Second, (and my old Tech 3s from 1990 had ths same issue), they really start to stink faster than my SG-12s. Not sure why, and I don't have the issue with my shoes or work boots. It may have something to do with how Alpinestars processes the leather. Overall they are excellent and very durable boots for the price.
Its between sidis top model or the tech 7s for me. I got the 7s and think im just going to keep them and call it good. The 7s are crazy comfortable. Bought some O'neals and sent them right back. I've always use Alpine stars and probably would've been fine with my tech fives from 15 years ago, but I decided I get a size bigger. I'm definitely happy with this text sevens so far. If i ride more maybe ill get the atajos for comparison. Think im good off the 10s tbh.
I just wish they would put leather where the boots touch the frame like they used to. My pipe melts em if I don’t wrap the header or leave stock heat shields on. The rubber doesn’t grip the frame that good anyway.
Tech 7s enduro version for the forest guys hitting huge hill climbs, getting stuck and walking up and down hills to help their stuck mates in tricky spots Tech 10s for MX/SX guys constantly landing big jumps where the extra support and stiffness is needed.
Those boots have been on the market for decades. How about a more in depth on worn out boots. Also how much for the replacement bootie and soles? Do they offer blue and white boots?
This comparison boils down to performance. Best performing protective boot = 12 Best performing feel = 7 Which performance feature do you want? I have two 7s. I have a problem “OG” with swollen and inflamed foot/toe joints. The 12s were slightly more irritating than the 7s. I’m a dual sport rider and the steel toe ain’t allowed in some restaurants I hit up. Also being 5’6”. When I’m in rock gardens the fist thing that touches is the toe. For talker guys, it’s the sole. Steel toes have zero grip on smooth rounded boulders. So for shorter guys that ride in those conditions, a rubber toe is safer than a steel toe that slips. That said, My next boot will be the Tech 7 Drystar whenever they are in stock. BTW, why doesn’t RMATVMC show sizes 7,8 and the larger sizes as options?
Hahah mine did this chronic too I ended up spraying something like joker 440 or rp7 or wd40 on the squeak points yeah I know it attracts the dust but stops squeaking
I’m a woods rider and love my SG10s but looking to try the 7 or 10s. The one pitfall I’ve heard from several guys I ride with is the 7’s leak. Is this still an issue?

You can check out the Tech 7 Drystar version if you don't want to have to worry about your feet getting wet. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/alpinestars-tech-7-enduro-drystar%C2%AE-boots-p
Hi, I’m an enduro rider, I don’t do track or big jumps, I also wear them to ride big bikes like my bmw f 800 gs off road, should I go with the 7? You know if there’s any significant difference with the dry star model ?
I need more ankle protection from casing a jump bad last season. I currently have Tech 7’s but debating purchasing Tech 10’s or Fastway Air Ext. pegs. What’s your opinion?
The Tech 10 is a way stiffer boot that just offers more protection all around. We have a full in-depth video comparing the Tech 7 and the Tech 10 where we compare them in various categories. You can check that video out here: ruclips.net/video/iYdUK5Le4R0/видео.html
How do I keep the white ones clean...and I wear size 10 lace up Van's shoes so do I order size 10 boot? I prefer the tech 7 ..toe box fits under shifter better and more buckles the better in my opinion
Use simple green and a dishwashing brush after every ride. Sounds silly but it totally works and will take the black marks off the white parts of the boot.
I am VERY disappointed with my tech 7’s. They look awesome and are comfy but after only two months of owning them the inside of the boot has torn and now the boot gets water and dirt inside
I have vad a lot of tech7’s best comfort of any booths I tried, but the sole durability it’s a joke, it’s breaks every time! The rubber sole are to soft and grainy. But that’s just my opinion
Honestly my question is more about the difference between the tech 7, and the tech 7 enduro. Anyone have any experience with both. The idea of having more "tread" on the enduro intrigues me, but is it worth the extra money? I ride trails, and desert, so I do some walking around during my rides. My current bike is a 2009 yz450f, if that matters. Also my current boot is Forma terrain. Which I am not happy with because they are wearing blisters in my ankles because they dont have a hinge.
R Burnside I have both the regular Tech 7 and the Tech 7 Enduro. I’m in SoCal riding trails, mountains, desert and some hard enduro. No MX. I ride a KTM 500 EXC-F (if that matters). Both boots are insanely comfortable right out of the box, and stay that way. Both lock into the bike super well when standing. I notice a difference on the sole of the two boots in two different ways: #1 the Enduro does provide better grip when having to walk, push, or rescue the bike. For me that’s less than 1% of the time. #2 The tread grooves on the Enduro sometimes grab on the foot pegs when I don’t want them to. I really don’t like that. I run the IMS Core Enduro foot pegs, if that matters. Because of that, my Enduro boots are my backup boots and my regular Tech 7’s are my go to’s. When my regular Tech 7’s wear out, I will buy another pair of those and my Enduros will remain my backup boot.
@@dannuthals7045 Thank you very much for the reply! I didnt think about the enduro sole grabbing the foot peg unexpectedly. I've noticed that happen when I've ridden dual sports with hiking boots. (don''t judge too harshly, I did it when I was commuting to the grocery store or something. ;D) I also have IMS footpegs, and have never had a problem with traction on the pegs themselves.
R Burnside Right on! I’ve ridden my bike with hiking boots too, when riding around town and that “grab” is exactly the problem that I’ve had with the Enduros. A minor issue, but something to be aware of. I find my riding style is that I will keep my boot on the foot pegs and slide them from spot to spot. I don’t usually pick my fit up and move them. Hence, that is why I have that issue. I try to ride standing as much as possible, so the last thing I want to do is take my feet off the pegs, even if only for a moment. Bad things happen when my feet aren’t on the pegs. 😷
@@dannuthals7045 my experience is the same I have both, I prefer the enduro as I'm constantly doing bike recovery on hills etc. But I agree the foot peg grab is a side effect. Depends on your riding. If you stay on your pegs/ riding go with regular. If your always attempting obstacles and hills your likely not going to make go with enduro. That being said these boots are super comfortable but I'm on my 3rd pair and my riding buddies are still on 1st pair of SG-12. That will be my next boot.
Do you wear any sort of knee guard or knee brace underneath? Riding pants are designed to have enough room to accommodate knee guards and braces. If you don't, they will look and feel baggy in the knees. - Chase
Thinking of going all astars head to toe. That Alpinestars helmet looked weird when they first introduced but after seeing many pros as Broc Tickle, Jeff Walker, Jett Lawerence, and Glen Coldenhoff the helmet looks good and where it belongs. Wanting to go all in with Sm10, Foster Gear, and tech 10s. Next Bike Yz250 2 stroke
Can you do a vs of A* Tech 7 vs Gaerne Fastback? Those are boots in the same price range as oppose to other vs's where there's a big price point difference
Not agree in tech 7 description, you don't explain that they are protection free on thé upper toe and the ankle.Good videos and compares.Think the tech 7 is dangerous for enduro ride but there awseome cool and beautifull.Gaerne fastback us far forward .
Ben Fairhall paid big money and a month of my 110# 15yo kid racing they were SHOT! Factory said “well maybe he’s gripping the bike to hard” 😡😳😫and sorry about your luck!!!

Get the same size as you would in the Tech 7. So get a 9 - Chase
I went with the tech 7
Ok
The Tech 7 has a 2 inch section under the shin protector that is completely exposed.
Which one is wider in the middle? The 7 are really tight on my mid foot

The tech 10 is smaller in the middle than a tech 7.
didn't know that the tech10 also provides a dhcp server 👌.
That which the ankle doesn't absorb, the knee will surely bear. I like a flexible boot.

Use simple green and a dishwashing brush after every ride. Sounds silly but it totally works and will take the black marks off the white parts of the boot.
What's the difference between the Tech 7 and the Tech 7 Enduro?
The sole of the tech 7 enduro is designed to have more grip when planting your foot. That is the only difference.
Which is easier to clean on the inside?
Should be tech 10
Will the Tech 7 Enduro Soles fit on the Tech 7's?
On the tech 7 Enduro do the soles wear quicker than the non enduro?
I am VERY disappointed with my tech 7’s. They look awesome and are comfy but after only two months of owning them the inside of the boot has torn and now the boot gets water and dirt inside
That's too bad mine have been very durable.
Water is entering through the lower strap were it retracts/adjusts into the boot.
Hi looking at getting boots I have a 20" calf which boot brand would you recommend or model
Gaerne SG12 has the largest calf opening and an adjustable shin plate. - Chase
@@rmatvmc will they fit a 20" calf
Only the Tech 7 offers an enduro soul option ... Is that right ?! Thanks!
That is correct
Gday when are you releasing the Troy lee designs GP helmet ?
VERY SOON
Does the EPS foam of the DHCP deform after taking a hit? Can that EPS be replaced? Thanks
I believe it can be through alpinestars. But yes it is designed on big hits.
That will be my next boot.
stufrowin Agree on all points. 👍
Tech 10 are all ways to tight/ fox instinct 👍👍👌
Get a bigger size
@@cencoast_7.340 Fox instinct are lighter also
My pants are slightly big around the knees, is that normal? I am new to dirt gear. size 32. brand alpinestar.
Do you wear any sort of knee guard or knee brace underneath? Riding pants are designed to have enough room to accommodate knee guards and braces. If you don't, they will look and feel baggy in the knees. - Chase
@@rmatvmc No I do not, I guess I should get some them then to take up some of that extra room.
Are the Toes made the same ?
The shape is slightly different, but yes, the materials they use are the same except that the Tech 7 doesn't have the inner ankle brace.
How bout the weight??
It’s not there but is
Just curious why you don't add the Tech 8 in this 🤔?
We don't sell the Tech 8
Can you do a vs of A* Tech 7 vs Gaerne Fastback? Those are boots in the same price range as oppose to other vs's where there's a big price point difference
wich one is more waterproof
If you want waterproof, then look at the Tech 7 Enduro Drystar, same boot as the tech 7 but has a waterproof liner and the enduro sole.
Not agree in tech 7 description, you don't explain that they are protection free on thé upper toe and the ankle.Good videos and compares.Think the tech 7 is dangerous for enduro ride but there awseome cool and beautifull.Gaerne fastback us far forward .
Chase if you have to chose which one would you chose Fox instinct or Thech 7
Instinct. - Chase
Dude u sold me went tech 7 got today my first pair of riding boots hey bud can u say dosie do lmao

Great boot, but you don't have them in ANY sizes?????? Especially 9 or 10.
Anyone with Supermoto experience with either of these?
Garene
Kan you sponser me i love alpinstaars
Kno
Sup
Tech 10 has the inner booty that makes it very uncomfortable for me.
Both are rubbish. Gearne sg12 are the best on the market.
Nope
You mean JUNK10’s
Why so?
Ben Fairhall paid big money and a month of my 110# 15yo kid racing they were SHOT! Factory said “well maybe he’s gripping the bike to hard” 😡😳😫and sorry about your luck!!!
Jon Eagle yeah that’s no good!
@@moto143 that’s what my point was exactly $750 later. Bought a used pair of tech 7’s to replace the 10’s and now buying a new pair of tech 7’s!! Today.
