Добавлен 1 май 2021
Alpine Analytics is a channel devoted to reviewing the all encompassing great outdoors. From gear and apparel used for adventure motorcycling, skiing, camping, fishing and everything else you can think of. The channel will also include short films and travel videos. My wife and I also review vehicles, campers, and travel destinations. Together we have decades of experience in Arts and Entertainment. She is a Senior editor at JETSET Magazine and writes the travel section for several publications including Maxim magazine. I have been an actor for over 20 years. Some of my credits include 4 seasons on HBO's The Wire, the HBO film "Something The Lord Made" which won the Emmy award for best TV film. I have also acted in numerous national commercials for Toyota, Ford, and Walmart to name a few. I look forward to growing the channel and hopefully impart some useful information. I have used RUclips extensively for research and I'm excited to be a part of giving back!
POWER WASHER FOR MOTORCYCLES, PORTABLE
GREAT PORTABLE POWER WASHER. POWERFUL ENOUGH FOR MY HUSQVARNA FE501S. It doesn’t have crazy high pressure but in my opinion its more than enough for cleaning motorcycles. Its portability and simplicity is the draw for me. Those with restricted space will love this.
SORRY ABOUT THE LOW-QUALITY RESOLUTION. MY GOPRO WAS NOT ON LOCK AND IT ACCIDENTALLY SWITCHED TO 1080P... OY!

MOTOOL SLACKER
Просмотров 519Год назад
MOTOOL SLACKER, Setting the correct sag on your motorcycle is something a lot of us don't bother doing. Mostly because it was a pain in the butt to do it. You had to measure and do math (ouch) and you needed multiple people to help you. Not anymore. This tool is so incredibly easy to use and you can set your sag by yourself in minutes. It's a bit expensive. I got it for $75. But it's something ...

Must be really COLD there huh?🥴🤡
These boots have a flaw that I can't get over.
Thank you for sharing your travels with such a beautiful resort.
💯
Thanks for the base layer review, very helpful. How about sizes on the Merino layers, especially if you want them closest to the body most often.
Sizes are normal. I wear a large and bought a large. These are not compression fitting. they're more of a lounge feel. Note: They're very comfortable but not very durable. Sizing down might make the sleeves too short of the pants too tight. Maybe order two sizes and then just return one. Hope that helps!
@@alpineanalyticsThanks, that helps alot 👌
That 37 number you talking about where you getting that number from
You have to find out on your own particular bike what your static sag is. Its in the bikes manual. Once you find out what that number is, you have to check your bike by measuring with a ruler or tape (or using the slacker tool) and then adjust your rear spring accordingly . My static sag with saddle bags is 37. Then you have to adjust the spings again for rider sag with all your gear on. It can be a bit confusing at first. There are a bunch of utube videos on sag/ suspension and how to get those numbers right. The slacker tool just makes it easy to do and be able to do it by yourself and very fast. Its been awhile since I did it so Im a bit rusty but once you watch a few videos on how to check your sag you will understand better. Hope that helps!
Are those the gray silver mirror lenses? Poly or glasses lenses? Thanks in advance.
MX pants are not suited to off road riding. Look at something with Gore Tex, etc., that is more durable. ie.- Klim Badlands, Kodiak, etc. I'm too cheap to buy poor quality or gear not suited to the application. Buy a good pair once.
You're 100% right! I had the Klim Dakar pant but I found they were too hot in the So Cal 100 deg weather. I just got back from The Dusty Lizard Rally in Park City hosted by Mosko Moto and I'm sold on their Kiger mesh pant they had on display. Incredible durability. Expensive yes but they should last 10 years.
I love your protection set up. I live in Orange County and it gets hot here.
The neck gaiter is from Turtle Fur.
Thanks!
I wish I can wear these boots but unfortunately with the foot shape of the boot itself my wide feet get cramped on em. gotta get a boot that is shaped like the Forma adventures.
Sorry to hear that. I wear a size 13 but my foot is not that wide so they work for me. Good to note though for wider foot riders! Thanks!
Works real well!
Lear!💯
Thanks for creating this video. Good, thoughtful comments
I’ll check it out today! Says it’s open.
Let me know if it's open. A friend went the other day and said it was still closed. I guess parts washed out during all the rain.
@@alpineanalytics made 4 miles away from the trailhead and felt something was off. Pulled over and I had a large nail in my tire :(
I remember the first time i went all the way from Blue Jay to Corona.....awesome ride
What headlight protector are you using?
Great review - thanks. I had a similar experience. I bought the Oneal's (Riders) first - but the right boot pushed in on my ankle really bad. So, I bought the Alpinestar Tech 3s but they were so stiff (I wear a size 15 so that may be a factor too). So, I bought the "Forma Adventures" - but those were too light and too weak imo. So, I just ordered the Tech 7s and they're going to be delivered tomorrow. Do you happen to know if the tech 7s have changed since 2013? I got mine for $280 from Amazon and now I'm wondering if part of why they were so cheap is because they are the old model. Usually, size 15 will go on sale so that could be it, I'm hoping. They aren't a great color which could be the reason too.
I don't think they have changed. I think new changes are just different models. Most likely size 15's don't sell as much. I have 13 and they sometimes go on sale because they don't sell like average size 10's. . I still have my tech 7's and really like them. Let me know how they work out for you. I also had Forma and I felt they were clunky.
Very useful info thanks mate!
I’m in the market for some more rigged boots. I’m on a KTM390 ADV, would you recommend these even on a lighter bike like that?
Absolutely. As long as you don't mind the extra bulk, they're comfortable and offer quite a lot of protection. I do mostly off-road stuff so I'm not going into a lot of restaurants or stores or things like that. But getting gas and occasionally going into CVS and places like that they're fine. I'm really happy with them for what I use them for.
Lear! You got to be careful buddy. Glad you had the right equipment on.
Lear! I'm a whore for the mountains, snow, sand, dirt, can't get enough! 😎✅
Very impressive with connectivity with your phone for the information on the shock weight and adjustment for you as the rider for better performance and overall wear on the shock and bike.
Very nice. What’s the width between the two sliders?
It's about 6 inches apart where the top part slides on to the bottom and then locks.
@@alpineanalytics I’m referring to the distance between the left and right locking tabs.
@@walkercythompson it's about 6 inches in the middle. Maybe 6.5 from the center of each locking tab.
@@alpineanalytics perfect thanks!
I don't know about everybody else but I generally don't ride much when it's a 100゚...... But man when it cools off get out of my way.. Enjoyed your vid every man has his method Thanks my friend...
Thanks for share, im looking for this, I'm also an adventure bike rider, question you use it over your adventure bike jacket or inside, is too bulky?
In my opinion, It's too bulky with a standard jacket. It's essentially designed for Motocross use, those guys wear them with just a jersey. I have used it comfortably with the Mosko Moto Rak pullover. That pullover is like a thicker type of jersey in a way It's not quite a jacket. If you're not familiar with the jacket, look at it on Mosko Motos website and you can get an idea of what it looks like. But I found it way too uncomfortable with a regular winter jacket. I had the Alpinestars revenant jacket and it was too tight. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the review - I have a ‘19 ATAS and was getting buffeting on highways. Just ordered one of these and will test it this weekend.
hello, with the givi in the lowest position, is it higher or lower than the original windshield? thank you
It's lower.
Any chance you have a list of your other gear? I like the more motorcross focus gear over the big jackets and pants
I do mostly off road with the Africa Twin and it's super hot so MX gear is better IMO. I wear Alpinestars boots, Mobius knee braces, Alpinestars bionic freeride shorts and MX style pants, Alpinestars, Fox and Mosko Moto Rak pants when it's colder or raining. Leatt 6.5 pro chest protector ( great because it also protects ribs) forcefield elbow pads ( found them on sale at Amazon) Alpinestars supertech, Fox flexair and Troy Lee se scout MX style Jersey's. If it's colder I have the Mosko Moto Rac pullover jacket I can shed if it gets hotter. I also wear the Klim arsenal vest that has a hydration pack, great pockets for snacks and tool kit. I find it's all a work in progress finding what works best. But so far I've been pretty happy with this gear I'm using. It's an inve$tment but I feel it's well worth it. I just try to get everything on sale. I also stumbled upon a company in England that makes a pretty cool jacket and pants out of mesh called Knox Action pro armored shirt and trousers that look interesting for quick trips to the supermarket and stuff around town. It's one of their biggest sellers for this company in Europe. I found it on sale in Ireland but I haven't received it yet. Hope that helps.
SPEAK UP SON!... lol
Lear! Very awesome ride!
Glad to see this is rideable on a big bike. I recently moved to OC and have been looking for spots to ride my T700. Gonna have to check this place out.
The Untangled Collection is amazing
Very impressive!
I think these boots are made in Asia now.
Thailand is what I saw yesterday, far from Italy
I thought everything was made there....yikes
@@lancerains4185 I think Gaerne is about it for a line where all their boots are made in Italy.
Chain wax works on the squeak as well.
One of the first things I did is walk out into a creek with my camera, tripod and wearing my brand new Tech 7s. Boy was I mistaken when I assumed they'd at least be waterproof above my instep. NOT!! LOL. Oh well. I still love them but they are Motocross boots. I'm going to get some Sealskinz waterproof socks and see how well they work
🤣 I had a recent similar experience. I believe the tech 10 are waterproof. So far I still love these for their comfort and protection.
@@alpineanalytics Only the Tech 7 Enduro Drystar is "waterproof". As far as I know, there are no Tech 10's that are waterproof.
@@mtbsuperninja Ok thnx Paul, that's good to know. Mine are still holding up nicely but when I'm ready for new ones I'll look into those.
Love this 🤩
I have these and they are the bees knees
Oh no, you shouldn't pull the glove through the velcro ring. You're doing it wrong. first, try to put the brace a little deeper on arm. Then put the glove on our hand. (The glove and the brace are already on your limb but they don't touch each other). Finally, slide the brace forward over the glove. While sliding put a ribbon over your finger and it's ready :D! Regards Oskar
Did they break yet?
No, still working great. I try to take good care of them.
Great review, I love my Tech 7, but they are far from waterproof, I ride enduro and get into wet places, the boots flood quickly and stay wet. I ordered a pair of Tech 7 Drystars, which are supposed to be waterproof, but they have been on back order since June! you got a new sub btw, great channel!
Thanks! Let me know how the waterproof ones work when you get them.
@@alpineanalytics oh for sure! keep an eye on my channel if you like it, will be uploaded there!
@@soupysocksenduro Ok great, I subscribed. Ride safe!
I ride in England and Wales in Tech 7 Drystar. Their waterproofing is very good. I've gone across deep water with over the boot trousers, with water at mid calf height and kept my socks dry. If they get totally flooded, they take an age to dry. I did the famously wet Strata Florida in Wales, with I don't know how many water crossings, 10 or more, all deep and in in the boot pants by Adv Spec. I emptied about a litre of water out of the boots but the water was so deep I was worried I'd drown my FE350
🇵🇦Muy bueno👍excelente felicitaciones...
Excellent review. You look good with that mx outfit too. I will buy the alpinestar tech 7 in full white for my supermoto ride.
Do you feel there is space between your heel and the back of the boot in the tech 7's? Maybe mine are too big, I don't know, but I wear an 11 or 11.5 in shoes and got a size 11 in the tech 7's. I haven't rode in them yet I just noticed when I've put them on that I can hit the back/heel of the boot to the ground and my heel will slide to the back of the boot and then slide back forward when standing. Could it be the sizing or is this normal in this boot?
Sorry to hear that I haven't had any issues with that. They fit me really well.
The Ricky mountain atv guy said the same thing.
Hey man, thank you for this. Is that a Jackolope on ya chest? LOL Just swappin over to moto from a life of pretty serious MTB, and lots of blasted parts (and rehabs :-/), and have been leaning MX instead of ADV boots for the protection issues because, you know, "it's" gonna happen. Well, knowing even a 60-year-old me, calm old man these days and all, can get excited, you know, and lower leg maulings from a 300lb motorcycle are not desirable. I currently have a bloody Achilles scab from running the pedal up my leg in a crash and I've been looking at the Tech 7. But that soft part above the heal freaks me a little and I've been leaning Leatt 4.5's for more plastic coverage. Is this my Achilles heal in choosing a boot or am I just barking up an empty tree?
Hi Brian, 🤣That's the leatt jackolope 6.5 on my chest. I wish it was a bit form fitting but at least it's comfortable in high heat. So far I've been super happy with the protection the boots offer. I checked the Achilles area on the boot after I read your post. You're right it's not the most protective part. I never really noticed it. It's rigid leather or synthetic leather but it's definitely not a hard plastic and if you land it you certainly wouldn't be fully protected for sure. If your gun shy in that area and you've had a prior injury you might want to get something that has full hard protection in that area. Does the leatt have hard plastic there?
I had a cheer accident prior to starting motocross. And broke my left wrist, it bothers me a lot to the point of stopping my bike and pulling off to the side of the track. Might look into these!
I wish we had more rides like that somewhat local to me. I used to live in Colorado, where this stuff was all over, but I was not into adventure biking then (I had a sport tourer in the early/mid 2000s). Now I have my 2017 BMW R1200GSA and am living in KY. Trails here (according to videos I watch) go from buff fire road, to 2-track, to rutted mud slogs and creek crossings in no time at all. Hard to ease into things, I fear. Interesting to see that you’re relatively new to this. I’m truly brand-new, since I just got my GSA a couple of months ago. I wanted a dirt bike SO badly as a kid, but we were too poor for that. Now I’m facing down 60 years old and am contemplating riding an expensive 600lb behemoth into the woods (well dreaming of it, anyway) with a still-fit but MUCH more fragile body (wrote you about my wrist issues in another video). I look forward to more vids. Your videography and editing is great and you have a very nice laid back tone in your voice. Keep it up!
