@@jamesford_jp i like street low light and some portraits you think as a first lens the 40mm will do the job? its f2 and its one of the cheapest from the z line im just thinking its not the best for portrait but if i dont go super close should pass no? im not a professional either :p
Depends on whether you like more headshot/close-up style portraits or environmental ones. The 40 mm is a good lens, but if you really like low light and want to do a lot of portrait work, the 35 or 85 mm 1.8 may be worth investing in.
Thanks for commenting! And I’m glad you’ve been enjoying my videos :) And yep, the Z5 is a neat little camera that punches way above its weight class! 😉
Thank you :) Honestly, it's been a while since I made this video, so I don’t remember any of the tracks I used 😅 you can find them all on Artlist though.
Question, I have the same camera and quite new to street photography. Would you mind sharing your go to focus settings for daytime/nighttime street photography? Great work.
Sure. I typically just leave it on AF-C (continuous) with the wide AF box. I’ve found that to be the best combination, for me, to get moving subjects on the streets, day and night. If I have a static subject, I might use AF-S (single) and single-point AF when I want maximum sharpness. Day and night doesn’t affect my AF settings for stills too much.
Thank you! And I’m glad to hear they’ve been helpful :) I use a GoPro mounted on GoPro Chesty mount. Pretty comfortable to wear and does a good job of keeping it steady while I walk around. B-rolls shots are usually taken with my Z5 or iPhone 13 Pro, but honestly, I really should just use the iPhone for all of it since it’s video capability is a lot better ahah
Hello, do you find annoying the noise on the lcd ? Is it a problem when you shoot at night like this ? I don’t think I’ve seen any on your screen and I’d like to know why. Thanks
I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking, but the LCD screen only displays any amount of noise that will be visible in the final photo. I don’t shoot over 2500 ISO, so the noise isn’t really that noticeable. That’s why there is no noticeable noise on my camera’s LCD screen at night. I hope that answers your question.
@@jamesford_jp oh, the low iso, I get it, that’s why. Actually, Nikon z5 is known for showing a lot of noise on the LCD screen (when your Iso needs to be high in dark situations) that won’t appear on the photo. And I wanted to know if you’ve experienced this as a obstacle to take good pictures in low light.
This is what i needed to see to go and purchase this camera as my 600d upgrade
It’s a good camera :)

@@jamesford_jp seems like gopro is the popular choice. but what about the battery life? is it able to last for a 3 hour session?
No. Probably only about an hour. I carry three.
May I ask which lens were used in that shooting?
24-70 2.8 S
what do you use to edit your photos?
Lightroom classic!
