I love your wording swap from “routine” to “ritual.” Replaces an external tyrant with gifts you can give yourself. Wow. The difference a word makes.

Oh MAN, Anika, when you told the story about choosing to do dishes while wishing to enjoy the beautiful sunset, I felt that! I find myself doing that way too often. “It looks like such a beautiful night outside, but I need to fold the laundry.” Or…”Wow I would love to just sit on the couch and enjoy a cup of coffee in silence right now, but I need to squeeze every ounce of productivity out of myself while my baby is napping.” It is such a push and pull force we’re up against, but being aware of it to begin with is probably a good step. Thank you for this video!

Yes, yes...seize the daily opportunities for joy!! Our culture will tell us that the dishes should be done first, but do not buy into that! I wish I had figured this out when I was younger, but I for darn sure am soaking it up now! Keep looking for simple joys and pausing to soak them in...❤️

That part really hit me. We are all worthy of joy and love regardless of how productive we've been.

I think most perfectionists relate to the conflict in accepting and allowing time for joy. I know I do.

I totally relate to this. With two kids and a husband that works from home I am constantly cooking, cleaning, washing dishes and washing clothes or folding. I feel like I always must earn my free time and by the time I finish all the work I feel drained, I am not in the mood anymore for any fun activity or walk. I must shift my mind and change my priorities.

This video resonated with me from start to finish. I quit my morning routine in January inspired by you and it has changed my life! I'm a stronger more relaxed version of myself halfway through the year because of it, so thank you Anika! Also I'm a huge John Mark Comer fan and 100 percent find parenting your phone to be a huge help when it comes to slowing your mind down and embarrassing the simple moments in my morning and evening as opportunities for delight. I found so many other great inspirations in this video, so thanks for sharing and all the work that goes into filming and editing

I knew there was a reason I was drawn to you, besides your calming voice. 😊John Mark Comer is one of my absolute favorites! And the reminder to pause to experience joy- spoken right to my soul. Incredible advice and video. Thank you for sharing!!

I really struggle with feeling like I have to have alllll my work and tasks completed before having fun or enjoyment. It’s something I have to be cognizant of too - otherwise I’ll really be missing out! Definitely takes daily work.

I do that to. Finish my chores or something before heading out to enjoy the sunshine. Only to find that by the time I'm "ready" to go out the weather has changed. However I do it because I'll enjoy / relax more if I don't have jobs to do just nagging in the back of my mind.

Seizing joy resonated with me a lot ❤ I also have this habit of doing my tasks before making time for joy, but sometimes it is useful to prioritise yourself more 🙂. Thank you for many wise reminders in this video, Anika 🤗

I also struggle with finding time for enjoyment when I have things to do first. The problem is, there is always something that needs to be done. My counselor actually told me to work on that as well, but I'm still having a hard time with it. So, no, you aren't alone! There's at least two of us 😂

Why would I give a fish mouth a nickel for taxes if I was financially secure? I'm glad I have good insurance, especially since I had heart surgery in February!

At the age of 67, I left my job and began receiving my full Social Security benefits. and after a couple of years went back to work full-time in a different industry. For me, it's enjoyable. Really! As so, I make money from three sources. I like life and go wherever I want to go.

Just take off the bandage and release them. I sell a coin right away if I'm unsure about it. Although it is annoying to lose money, the longer you keep it as a pet, the more opportunities you miss out on because you could have spent the cash on something more worthwhile.

Time is the most precious resource that most people misuse. There are only five opportunities in a lifetime to begin a low-risk, thirty-year investment route that will lead to financial independence, starting at age 25. It is definitely achievable after that, but the harder it gets the longer you wait.

call me immature, but you say, "life is short", therefore, would you support longevity research (although the latter is more about health than a longer life ..)???! Thanks!
