    You say not sponsored yet you do share affiliate links. That's basically the same thing..

    • @Nick_Lewis
      @Nick_Lewis  Год назад +274

      Thanks for your comment, but it is not the same. I am not paid a fee to make this content for Amazon and I do not require their approval to post this content. Both of which are the case when a video is sponsored as they would be paying me an upfront fee and approve the video or ask me for changes to the content before posting - I would disclose that if that were the case. I disclosed that there are affiliate links in this video verbally and in the description box of this video (which I also do for every video I upload to RUclips.) Can this bias content? Possibly, but that is for the viewer to decide. For my part, I disclose the nature of every relationship I have with the brands I work with.
      I hope that clarifies things. I am pinning your comment just in case anyone else was curious about this issue.

      @@Nick_Lewis Still feels to me you make this type of video solely to boost your revenue. A lot of questionable products, that are at best soso. Your choice is limited I guess if you only select products from Amazon that have an affiliate program. Overall it just feels like a low effort money grab to me.
      It’s perfectly fine if that’s what it is but just be transparent about it.

    • @teaptot
      @teaptot Год назад +103

      @@Chrisssssssssssssssssss Nick has affiliate links in every video where he's discussing products, most RUclipsrs do.
      I had a quick look at his Amazon & Ikea video history, they do the well for views so obviously he'll keep doing them. If you don't like the products that's fine but some will be useful to others, for me it's the lint roller replacement which I'd never thought of.
      He's literally self employed & so is wanting to generate revenue, maybe don't be such a hater.

    • @Nick_Lewis
      @Nick_Lewis  Год назад +88

      @@teaptot Thanks for that. Also I think people don't realize that IKEA doesn't have an affiliate program so design RUclipsrs don't make any money off of the links. You are correct though that affiliate links are an important source of revenue for creators (and keeps content on RUclips free to watch) but not nearly as lucrative as some people think. Although there is for sure a conversation about how affiliate links can bias content (recommending an Amazon lamp over an IKEA one for example) the revenue is never worth losing trust with the audience in my opinion. I'll also add that as of typing this, this video has 6909 Likes and 50 Dislikes. So I think the general audience is comfortable with my choices and sees value in this video.

      @@ChrisssssssssssssssssssThey are questionable products to YOU. All of the products he has mentioned are GREAT. I happen to already have a majority of them and I can testify that they WORK WELL. Making RUclips videos and editing them is a lot of work. There is absolutely nothing wrong with affiliate links. You probably don’t work for free and there’s nothing wrong with him making some money from the referrals. It’s nothing off our back to use the links. It makes me happy that he gets something in return and appreciate his work and videos!

    Boopity-Boop! 😂❤️
    High five for no ironing! HATE IT. I own a mostly broken travel iron that I use maybe once a year, that’s how much I despise it. The most I’ll do is a collar, or when I am sewing, for seams. Otherwise, if you get things out of the dryer at the right time and hung/folded away, that’s pressed enough for me!

    I have had that OXO lint brush for my cats’ hair, works great. Plus, over time animal dander can build up on the brush and caddy, and running it under warm water, and it dries, ready to go to work again. And I’ve used Folex too.

    shortcut for those who hate ironing their sheets and have the money for it. Find a laundrette with an ironing press machine (or drip dry on the line). I did hundreds of sheets a day at my last job, was so therapeutic.

    My mom had been dealing with a lot of repeat stains on her wool rugs in the last year because the family dog, Raven, was a senior who was having trouble with her bladder. At 15 years old we just had to do what we could to take care of the house and her. Through that process the guy who owns the carpet cleaning service in town recommended Folex. It really does work wonders. As of a few months ago Raven is no longer with us, but because of her I know a whole lot more about taking care of dogs and a home that has them. I feel very prepared for the next pet, and I’m glad that I won’t have to worry about feeling as frustrated as my mom did with a similar situation. It takes a lot of stress away when you have a viable and consistent solution.

      Agreed. I used to have two big dogs and two cats, the dogs were - big dogs - and the cats threw up everywhere. Folex was my go-to for cleaning couches and rugs. I haven't seen it for years, but now I know Amazon has it I ordered some today.

    I recently purchased a Scrub Daddy soap dispenser. It's fantastic. The top has a push dispenser for sponges. The middle is a squeeze bottle that squirts out the bottom, which is great for doing the dishes.
    I have a generic fabric shaver from Amazon and love it so much. It has great reviews. I use it every week.

    The person whom Nick points to from America's Test Kitchen (ATK) is Lisa McManus, who is an executive editor for ATK Reviews. Love and appreciate how you've expanded into topics semi related to decorating. Amazon addict here. I'll watch anything that has product suggestions.
    For the fabric shaver, I vouch for these. Very effective. It's a shame not more people know about them.
    I didn't realize people are ironing their sheets. I sleep on micro fleece sheets year round. The stretch factor eliminates the potential for wrinkles.
    If one MLM actually created a useful product, that doesn't excuse their exploitful cult-like behavior the other 99% of the time.

    Nick, have you tried "shaving" your garlic with a rasp grater? Bridget from ATK said she gets the pre-peeled garlic and freezes it (I layer them in paper towels to keep the moisture/ice crystals down). She pulls however many cloves out of the freezer and shaves them with the rasp grater and it's as good as mincing or using a garlic press.
