The smell of old or new rubber dominating the room is a little nauseating. The point of going home from your shop is to get away from that after the 10 hour work day. Do you know ONE guy - or gal - that doesn't shower to get that smell off after a long day?

Just as there is different paints there are different epoxies. I use a VOC free epoxy that is food safe when cured. I'm aware of the ambering and don't use colorants that will make it yellow. It's scratch resistant and you can put a pot on it straight from the stove. I use my counters a lot and have had no problems. I didn't go over an existing counter, I built them and my shower walls. I treated them like artworks, not a mimic of stone. It works with the house. The key is to get the right epoxy for the job, and in this case it is a lot more expensive to get the right product.

TREND does not imply long lasting well thought out project lol. Also just a side note but treating your countertops as art sounds like a lot of work when you could treat your countertops as countertops and hang art on your walls 🤷♀️ Edit: also ambering (which is a very kind way to say yellowing) will happen regardless of colorants. As far as I'm aware they have yet to create an epoxy that will not yellow be it UV or two part. You can buy it that will resist yellowing and you can add colorants that will create the illusion of it staying clearer but it will yellow over time.
Yup, I work in art conservation and even HXTAL epoxy resin, which is one of the best on the market and supposedly non-yellowing, does yellow over time - from what colleagues have said, it takes 3-7 years for the colour-change to be noticeable, depending on the amount of exposure to sunlight. That's a really short time span, specially considering how hard the removal of epoxy resin can be, in case you want to replace it with something else.
I’ve had some fever dream DIYs but they never see the light of day. My 80-yr old aunt told me years ago, “there’s a difference between hand-made and homemade”.
oh wow! i'm sure i've never met your 80 year old aunt but i fix guitars for a living and i see the woodshop projects people put together and then bring in to me to try and turn into working musical instruments and i long ago came up with that _exact_ same saying, it's the difference between "hand-made" and "home-made"
Another thing on DIY and resale is that when a buyer spots a bad DIY, like painted tile, they will start really questioning everything else and putting everything under a microscope.
I feel like it's really common here that sellers try to do a quick fix-up before showing the apartment, like just do a layer of white over everything. Mine had stains everywhere and they hadn't bothered to cover any adjacent areas at all when painting... They got annoyed when I gave them a low bid and were like "we just renovated" and I replied "yeah just look at that paint job". Luckily I have been painting professionally for years so I fixed it pretty easily.
"I just had this idea this morning" is just influencer talk to make their projects look more twee or to make them look more spontaneous and fun. Idk what it is exactly. But obviously she did not just randomly plan it that morning as she had the right paint, and the time, and everything set up just perfectly to do this project.
Ok, as a person who does home remodeling.... I've worked a lot with epoxy resins- I've done full seals on in-shower wood elements, wood furniture, sealed butcher block, etc. What I can promise is that that nice glossy finish is going to be ruined the first time you wipe anything across it. Many of them will be ruined if the sun hits it and you haven't used the right resin. Just don't. The wheel side table... that's a $200 tire on at least a $100 rim. That's *at least* $300 to just buy a goddamned end table. The painted concrete porch- go for it, paint your porch (make sure you use concrete paint). But for the love of all things holy, don't use caulk to fix concrete cracks. They will come back. The caulk will not hold to the concrete, and it will create an area that holds water to further degrade the concrete. Use self leveling compound or cement to fix cracks in concrete. Please, stop painting tile. Replacing tile is not hard or expensive. Porcelain tile is *intentionally* non-porous- meaning paint will not adhere to it. It will chip and scuff the first time you walk on it, and your also creating a surface that collects dirt and mold.
The tiles in my bathroom are doubly painted - not by me, there are two coats of paint over some dark green tiles made by previous tenants and it all just looks nasty as hell, ESPECIALLY in the shower area. Heck, they didn't even finish the job! I might need to have a chat with my landlord once I move out because I assuredly am not going to fix this.
@@cv7357 That's no what the line "Do not use my name in vain" even means. It certainly ruins YOUR credibility if you don't even know your religion properly.
You could just buy a bulb with a lower wattage. Or a yellow instead of white or blue so it softer. Personally, I like to fully see the room I am in without squinting.
I love that you were kind about the young woman finding her own style. I clearly remember the day-glow posters and the Indian cotton cloth covering the crummy sofa and the lamp and rug from my parents' house. We all have to find our own way, and I think her stuff was fun and funky.☺
Staircases are the most highly regulated part of the home because they're also the place where the most injuries happen. So yes, the open staircases are definitely not to code. If someone wants the "open" staircase look they're going to have to do something with glass or acrylic. Stairs are definitely not a DIY project.
I was once told by my insurance company that if I didn't have a railing for the TWO STEPS that led up to my front door, they could deny my home insurance because it was a trip/fall risk.
Every step should have a hand rail, even if it's just one step. Steps are well-known to be dangerous. The insurance company's job is to pay out when something uncommon or unexpected occurs. They don't have to insure fools who are asking for trouble.
I'm not elderly, but I'm darn sure not going up or down those death stairs! Just press 91 on the phone and wait to hit the next 1 when I go ass over elbow on them! 😅
6:35 I can't cope with mood lighting because I can't see properly especially in common spaces like the living room and kitchen. I don't think there's anything wrong with my eyesight but the whole dim lighting trends irritates my soul when I can't see how clean the room is
"...you go on TikTok...you're sitting there it's night time you should probably going to bed, but here you are.." 😂 Be aware: A disaster countertop might result from a late night time scrolling!
I like your comments about the lady painting her porch. She explains it really casually but that could just be for engagement anyway. She might have planned it for ages. Or *maybe* she does lots of diy, or is an artist, and hence already had the caulk and concrete paint and is really good with laying out patterns. Definitely important to know and accept what you are and aren't good at!
I agree that she probably planned it out and knows what she's doing. Very nice result, and viewers won't be able to get it so good. Also I don't think it will fall apart in a couple of years.
It looks way better, but painted concrete is dangerously slippery when wet, even with "non-slip" texture added. Concrete stain doesn't have that slip issue.
Open risers - we had this staircase with a 3 foot solid wall railing (very safe). My cat dearly adored it as the carpet wrapped all the way around each stair, and he could defy gravity and run up the underside of the staircase and give us crazy maniacal black cat looks.
We painted our bathroom wall tile about 5 years ago and it's still holding up amazingly (the tile was in great condition but a hideous color) - we scrubbed the grout, sanded the tile, applied a tile-specific base coat, and used a spray applicator and durable enamel paint. It honestly still looks great and we have no intention of changing it for the foreseeable future. I would never, however, do that with floor tile.
I did a cheap work five years ago too on my kitchen splash wall (didn't use a base coat, didn't sand anything). It chips easily so I don't scrub hard, but it has enabled me to create a visually separate kitchen area in my very tiny one-room apartment. I am pretty sure the owners will change the tiles when I leave anyway since some of them have been on the verge of falling for five years now.
Thanks for sharing, but could you also include how much it cost? Because I have a feeling that re-tiling might have been more or less the same price with less risk? 😅
3:58 "This is why you don't get a voice" 😂 That cracked me up! I'm now subscribing. I'm a tacky cartoon/gaming/sci-fi collector and my wife lets me get away with way too much, but she also has the last say on where and how I put my crap on display, so that it looks clean and not embarrassing, while I still have a proud display to show off. That tyre, my man, screams bachelor basement man cave.
I remember when I was house hunting, I looked at more than one home that had recent updates looking stunning in the photos. Then I saw the updates in person and it was clearly a sh***y DIY. Some were so bad that I took a pic to send to my parents...and the DIY looked good in my own photo. I remind myself this whenever I see people's DIY update online. It probably looks just as amature as it is irl.
My countertops are from the “landlord special”- just ugly greyish-blue laminate in the kitchen and bathrooms. My solution was to choose paint colors for the house that compliment the ugly counters. And it worked out great, and in fact most people that come to see the house think we renovated the whole kitchen lol. It looks like it’s meant to be there now, and it cost way less! And it’s pretty easy to choose a color scheme. Just go to Home Depot with a swatch, and go through the color pamphlets, and find the one that matches closest to what you have. And go from there! :)
Exactly. Paint can do wonders and can transform a room by making everything else complement each other. No need to rip off stuff if it can be made to complement other things.
@@vaderladyl I love to spray paint , I'm into silver,I paint some furniture and it looks fantastic, I'm not saying that my friend said so . I wish I could send you pictures !!
lol, my brother had a coffee-table sized version of the tire table for years! In his case it was actually super practical. He does auto cross racing, and he needs two sets of tires- one for regular driving and the other for racing. When he lived in an apartment, he didn’t have anywhere to store the spare set, so this was his solution. In that case it was actually way better than having random tires taking up space stacked somewhere
I’m old and a little shaky on my feet. I will not use a floating staircase. Last time I was confronted with one in a public venue I told them I couldn’t do it safely and they decided they did have an elevator after all.
There's a university near me where one of the buildings has a massive atrium with a floating staircase. For people who have a fear of heights it's a complete nightmare, like being trapped in an Escher print.
I see that no railing stair thing in a lot of interior design shows where people have MASSIVE budgets, I just don't get it. I used to trip on open risers as a kid (I was uncoordinated and often over excited as a child), but they had railings. Worst I saw recently was an open staircase next to an upstairs bar... That's a set up for a 'tragic accident' where there just happens to be a massive life insurance policy.
When I was house hunting before the pandemic there were so many houses with the open risers (but at least had railings!) and they absolutely give me the screaming heebie-jeebies. Like, fear of falling turned up to 11. I can't wait for them to go out of style.
Yeah, it's the same with the fake wood varnish on IKEA or other furniture stores' new furniture lines. Like. either use wood furnishing or use straight paint colours, but for the sake of everything that is good in this world, stop trying to fake wood, it's not going to look like wood. Already because of the plastic-y feel of it, it is ALWAYS obvious that it's not real wood.
Also I have hyperactive adhd and I see so many extra possibilities for reckless behaviour 😭 a) sliding down stairs in safe and unsafe ways is inevitable and now super dangerous b) stairs with gaps are also monkey bars, loads of potential there c) I could easily hang a diy swing, hammock, punching bag or pinyata off it but it doesn’t even have handrails to help secure it better. Child me would’ve been in hospital so fast 🤣 A childhood friend actually had the with handrails version directly over another staircase at their house and the first thing I thought of and then did when the adults weren’t looking was wriggle through the gap and climb them from underneath like a monkey 💀 I was caught trying to make a swing before I got to test it and was permanently banned from the stairs 😭
We transformed our overhead lighting with a nice pendant plus a warm bulb and hung it low above the dining table, so has now become ambient lighting every time we walk into the room and turn it on.
Thank you for advising people to find a way to work with their countertops. Mine are 2005 quartz, completely functional and not offensive but not what I would have chosen. I don’t like the idea of changing out something so expensive just because it wasn’t what I picked. And it is just soooo wasteful to replace something that could last as long as the house. About 5 years after I moved in, I realized that if I changed the colour stain of the cabinets then the countertops would make sense with my general vibe. As soon as I figure out what I need to do with the backsplash (glass tile installed the wrong way) I’ll set aside the time and start stripping cabinets (family has expertise and I’ll have their help). Overall kitchen redo will take way more time than if I gutted it, but will come in way way lower cost and won’t be wasteful.
My house has its '93 laminate counters that are in perfect condition. I want butcher block for at least one counter, but cannot justify the cost when I have perfect 1993 still functioning spotlessly.
yes, and it is more sustainable. No wasted good material to the landfill. I am keeping my granite tops that I always liked, and just keep refreshing wall paint, accessories and other things to keep it looking great. And the tops are in mint condition, no damage.
I have 50 year old Formica counter tops that are soooo out of date. Same with the original dark oak cabinets. I've been researching the proper way to paint the cabinets, and may be working up the courage to tackle that project. But I have rejected the temptation to DIY the counter tops and will just have to pick the right lottery ticket to afford a professional replacement before I make the mistake of painting them.
The race car decor! All I can think of is the Carrie Fisher line from When Harry Met Sally. "I want you to know.... that I will NEVER want that wagon wheel coffee table." LOL
“'Cause someday, believe it or not, you'll go 15 rounds over who's gonna get this coffee table. This stupid wagon wheel ROY ROGERS GARAGE SALE COFFEE TABLE!”
We got new neighbors about eight months ago and nit only did they change Every Single outside and inside light to superwhite/blue LED lightning, but they Don't Use Blinds or curtains!!! What is wrong with people?! I fear for their and their children's sanity.
I love your no BS opinion!! “Fever dream”, “This is why your wife won’t let you choose things at Target and you loose your privileges”. My two favorite quotes. As a 62 yr old woman I’ve always hated overhead lighting and have a bit of a lamp obsession, more specifically vintage and second hand lamps.
For me, plastic/ silk is safer for my birds. Real plants they definitely would taste at the very least. Many are poisonous, or at least not good to chew/ eat. Plus, if *I* make an awesome flower arrangement, I want it to last!😅 If it's not good, I take it apart and use it in another. Totally agree on that arrangement, though. It's not very special being all one flower and you could buy (easily and not too expensive, probably cheaper to get) real ones with a lovely smell.
The right paint for the right thing has really been an important learning experience for me this last year. I painted my bedroom and am finishing up a DIY update in my bathroom. I was so frustrated when I found the doors scuffing so easily, but then I found out there is paint specifically for doors, cabinets, and trim. Game changer! I don’t know what makes it different but it holds up amazingly.
The “big” lights are useful for finding lost earrings, vacuuming, mopping and removing splinters. Otherwise, not so much. I honestly don’t think I’d attempt any of these in my home. Those stairs look like a multitude of broken bones and a major lawsuit just waiting to happen.
NICK!!!!! I love your style. HELP!!!!! I’m a crafter ( knitting, paint by numbers, jewelry making) but I hate the busy look of most craft rooms. PLEASE do a video on this topic 🙏🏽
I do lots of crafts in my craft room and everything is hidden behind doors on all my cabinets and the rest is on coordinated boxes, baskets and bins. I also hate visual clutter.
The not using the big light thing is so funny to me cause SO many houses were built with no living room overhead light. My 1898 home doesn't have one and my 1986 home doesn't have one either. They were literally designed to only use lamps in that room. Then all of a sudden in the 90s? I'm assuming? they started adding light fixtures in there and now no one wants them.
I think it's quite useful to have one, even if you almost never use it. When I'm working late, it's good to have the overhead light to keep a sense of "daytime" in the room.
I'm in an apartment that doesn't have overhead lights except in the kitchen and makes me miss my townhouse that had them in every room. I don't have a lot of space for extra lamps everywhere so my place is kinda dark most of the time.
When looking for a house, we walked right out of a house where a floor was badly painted. We figured if this was so badly done, what was the condition of the things we couldn't see.
11:30 I'm surprised you didn't mention the doormat layered over the towel (or whatever it is). Whenever I see this in a video or photo, all I can think of is someone walking up to the door, tripping over the layers and flying headfirst into a sidelight.
So many home transformation, decor etc videos on tiktok send me into genuine rage, like i actually close the app and just leave the room, like i just can’t deal with these people omg
People can create something that looks passable or even great on camera in a mid-res, tiny 9x16 window that blurs the flaws, but 90% of it looks terrible in person.
I’ve used concrete paint. You need to be aware that the paint can bubble if the concrete doesn’t dry properly before painting. Concrete is very porous and holds moisture. I had this issue.
I think part of the reason why Gen Z doesn’t use the Big Light is because we often rent, so there are fewer options for making the Big Light fit our space/be dynamic (with brightness & sometimes temperature as well)
Hell, I'm GenX and I only use the Big Light in specific cases. Kitchen: task lights only unless I am Cooking with a capital C, thus needing the ceiling lights - Living room: one corner lamp unless I need to find something, thus needing the ceiling light - Bedroom ceiling light comes on for laundry day and 'fit checks' [as the kids say].
Millennial that *technically " owned my own place (shared ownership is fun...) I do not do the big light unless I'm trying to find something tiny I've dropped and it's dark outside. Live in an apartment so kitchen, bathroom and hallway are internal, hallway has lamps, kitchen and bathroom have smart Gu bulbs that I set to much less than 100% brightness and change the colour temperature to something warmer, especially in the middle of the night.
Strong top lights can vomit a lot of heat, and more importantly, make you subconsciously feel like you're still in your wage cage. I tired of it after some years, and picked up some Ikea table lamps (don't love their hotel-vibe lamps but...). Spouse went on with "Lol they're so dumb and small; lamps for women; what are you even going to do with those; it's great that Ikea has a return policy" Two weeks later, he just says "Should we get more lamps? What else do they have?"
@@davedixon2167 yeah, to me overhead light is for tasking and cleaning the room only. Besides that, I never use it. I have plenty of lamps for mood and ambiance.
I second the paint issue! The place I’m renting has paint over wood floors and it’s constantly chipping wherever there’s furniture. Plus the floors never feel fully clean because there’s so much foot traffic and dirt which paint holds on to. I vacuum and mop every single day because I have pets and kids to no avail. Hate these painted floors especially when the wood beneath it is so beautiful. Do not recommend.
In the bathroom, you need marine paint and THEN a couple of coats of poly on top. Same with floors, especially outside. Paint and varnish/poly will last a lot longer than just paint.
"General rule in life: no matter how much you love a certain piece of decor in your space, even if it is a garbage bag, I don't advice you to tattoo it in your body" A quote for the records 😂
OMFG the lamp tattoo. Im dying over here. When will you show us one with the clock? When I was a kid, everyone had those big wooden cable spool tables (in the garage next to the beer fridge). I would still go for one of those!
The painted front porch is great. I'd seal it or epoxy or whatever (best material probably depends on the environment) to make it last as long as possible!
Your point about the painted flooring/porch possibly needing to be repainted quickly is a great point. I know you can put a seal coat on but you’re still taking a chance on high traffic areas. I’ve had the same trouble with painted cabinets and no one ever brings that up with all of the “paint your cabinets” videos! (Even after prepping properly and using the correct paint)
I am a resin artist, I totally agree. Resin scratches and dulls and depending of what kind of medium you use, will also fade. and for painting tile, there is great tile paint out there, it isn't cheap but you can also use it on an old tub, it self levels, but it still looks like painted tile. lol
I absolutely agree that often it's better to just work with what you have than to try to cover it with bad DIY. A lot of this stuff only looks good in a Tiktok video, but in real life it looks terrible.
As someone who has off white, porous countertops, I get thinking "I can get a little more life out of my countertops while I save up and replace them". Nothing is worse than spending $200 to start a DIY, it go horribly wrong and you then have to spend thousands fixing it then and there instead of saving!

loving how youre really hounding in the points about paint. Tire table probably stinks like the industrial rubber you smell when you enter a tire shop. Also, if I were walking through a showing of a home where the floors were painted, I'd walk out. Only the gullible will purchase a home where the floors have been painted, unless they are planning a renovation after they purchase. No paint will hold up under regular foot traffic, and most especially the foot traffic that most front doors receive. No comment on the red-glove short. Okay, it's beyond awful. lol
"Paint made for concrete"... We bought a house with a painted porch. It had been painted with "paint for concrete" just before it went on the market, looked terrific. By the next summer, we were scraping/sand-blasting the areas which didn't even make it past one year (lifting, flaking, bubbling). Trouble was, it DID adhere (tremendously, effectively) in SOME areas and then NOT AT ALL in others. We had it professionally redone. Still was a VERY BAD idea--flaky spots, lifting within one year (again). FYSA, this was in Colorado, climate which includes freezing temps, snow, yada yada. I loved the look, but I won't ever paint concrete. Let me again emphasize that this was expensive paint sold for use on exterior concrete (used IN TANDEM with every expert-advice re: proper preparation prior to application. THANK YOU for all your work, Nick.
@@keeptrying5962 same with us the porch was painted gray when we bought the house and the bubbling and patches where it came up was terrible once it’s painted you really can’t get the concrete back so I painted it a color to at least match the house a nice royal blue to match the shutters and we had a yellow door so it really did look nice but the way that paint just wouldn’t last even a whole season I will never paint concrete again I have a small front porch where I am now I’m going to power wash it and put down an outdoor rug done
@@dianeguy7452 absolutely right on, especially "can't get the concrete back". We ended up with something that...just kinda looked 'weathered' and we resigned ourselves to it, having tried everything. Thank you!

Ever try getting that freaking carpet GLUE off of concrete??? Looked like it had acne for years until it finally weathered enough in the sun to flake and disappear.
As I progress through life, I realize more and more that regardless of style, one of the most important aspects of furniture and home decor is accessibility and ease of use. Some of these trends manage to disregard both those previous points spectacularly. FYI, by saying "accessibility" I'm including things like maintenance, how often things need to be replaced, do they make tasks harder, etc. Most people don't want to fight with their own house to get things done.
Sometimes a single piece in a room can tell you everything about the person who lives there. The tire table guy? He tinkles in his kitchen sink. And doesn't care if you do too. Even if you're a girl.
A little story about lamps promoting warm lights: my cousin got her first house after a divorce. Shed always lived in dark, brown houses and got a bright white space. When I visited ALL the lamps had the brightest whitest light's lol! I said honey, it looks like youre gonna do surgery in here. I found some warm lightbulbs left by the previous owners and she let me replace a few bulbs. Though she wanted bright and white, she appreciated how it made her house feel cozy. Another thing on DIY and resale is that when a buyer spots a bad DIY, like painted tile, they will start really questioning everything else and putting everything under a microscope.

Yup once saw a house with terrible paint job everywhere. Really puts everything else into question.
Agree with all - but it ruins your credibility when you abuse the Lord's name as you did here.

She was a bit overboard. I think she's trying to find herself instead of her decor likings.
Staircases are the most highly regulated part of the home because they're also the place where the most injuries happen. So yes, the open staircases are definitely not to code. If someone wants the "open" staircase look they're going to have to do something with glass or acrylic. Stairs are definitely not a DIY project.
I love the “lost privileges” hilarious
I was once told by my insurance company that if I didn't have a railing for the TWO STEPS that led up to my front door, they could deny my home insurance because it was a trip/fall risk.
Yeah, they own you, and you have to pay them a premium ! It sucks ....
Same here.
I literally lost my home insurance because of this, so yeah 🥲
Every step should have a hand rail, even if it's just one step. Steps are well-known to be dangerous. The insurance company's job is to pay out when something uncommon or unexpected occurs. They don't have to insure fools who are asking for trouble.

I loved it when she said something about it already being too late (to make her change her mind) That's me!
She caulked concrete cracks as a "fix". She didn't do enough research
It looked very nice but I hope she realizes that she needs multiple layers of sealer for it to last through wear and weather.
Open risers - we had this staircase with a 3 foot solid wall railing (very safe). My cat dearly adored it as the carpet wrapped all the way around each stair, and he could defy gravity and run up the underside of the staircase and give us crazy maniacal black cat looks.
Now that's catifying your space
We painted our bathroom wall tile about 5 years ago and it's still holding up amazingly (the tile was in great condition but a hideous color) - we scrubbed the grout, sanded the tile, applied a tile-specific base coat, and used a spray applicator and durable enamel paint. It honestly still looks great and we have no intention of changing it for the foreseeable future. I would never, however, do that with floor tile.
Good to know!
Thank God !! Never ever paint tile !!!

This is so common. I hate flipped houses, what a waste of time in house hunting.
Why are you renting ? With all your talent, you should be investing in your own property !!
Exactly. Paint can do wonders and can transform a room by making everything else complement each other. No need to rip off stuff if it can be made to complement other things.

I’m old and a little shaky on my feet. I will not use a floating staircase. Last time I was confronted with one in a public venue I told them I couldn’t do it safely and they decided they did have an elevator after all.
Good for you!
There's a university near me where one of the buildings has a massive atrium with a floating staircase. For people who have a fear of heights it's a complete nightmare, like being trapped in an Escher print.
Nick says "Work with what you have," I say "What you can't erase, you must embrace." 😊
Not many people use a banister or railings, except old people. And drunks !! Hahaha
When I was house hunting before the pandemic there were so many houses with the open risers (but at least had railings!) and they absolutely give me the screaming heebie-jeebies. Like, fear of falling turned up to 11. I can't wait for them to go out of style.
@margotmolander5083 You should have fallen, you could have been rich !!! Maybe next time .hahaha
Hahah I can’t stand the “‘make your front door look like wood”.
It doesn’t look like wood.
Garage doors painted to look like wood are the worst!
They aren’t going to fall DOWN those stairs, they’re gonna fall OFF them 😬
Yep!
Child me would’ve been in hospital so fast 🤣
A childhood friend actually had the with handrails version directly over another staircase at their house and the first thing I thought of and then did when the adults weren’t looking was wriggle through the gap and climb them from underneath like a monkey 💀 I was caught trying to make a swing before I got to test it and was permanently banned from the stairs 😭
We transformed our overhead lighting with a nice pendant plus a warm bulb and hung it low above the dining table, so has now become ambient lighting every time we walk into the room and turn it on.
The tire table reminds me of When Harry Met Sally -" the stupid wagon wheel coffee table" - "I thought you liked it?" - "I was being nice!"

Why use fake flowers that will get dusty when the real luxury is getting real roses (or other seasonal flowers)?
For me, plastic/ silk is safer for my birds. Real plants they definitely would taste at the very least. Many are poisonous, or at least not good to chew/ eat.
Plus, if *I* make an awesome flower arrangement, I want it to last!😅
If it's not good, I take it apart and use it in another. Totally agree on that arrangement, though. It's not very special being all one flower and you could buy (easily and not too expensive, probably cheaper to get) real ones with a lovely smell.

The right paint for the right thing has really been an important learning experience for me this last year.

And turned to a mushroom tattoo.
Spouse went on with "Lol they're so dumb and small; lamps for women; what are you even going to do with those; it's great that Ikea has a return policy"
Two weeks later, he just says "Should we get more lamps? What else do they have?"
@@davedixon2167 yeah, to me overhead light is for tasking and cleaning the room only. Besides that, I never use it. I have plenty of lamps for mood and ambiance.
In addition to getting the right materials (paint, etc) but prep the surface properly (concrete, tile etc).

Also, if I were walking through a showing of a home where the floors were painted, I'd walk out.

I enjoy watching Nicks videos. He’s straight forward with his comments. I do miss his wall clock that was hanging behind him.
I just LOVE Nick - your sense of humour is amazing 😂😂😂
A little story about lamps promoting warm lights: my cousin got her first house after a divorce. Shed always lived in dark, brown houses and got a bright white space. When I visited ALL the lamps had the brightest whitest light's lol! I said honey, it looks like youre gonna do surgery in here. I found some warm lightbulbs left by the previous owners and she let me replace a few bulbs. Though she wanted bright and white, she appreciated how it made her house feel cozy. Just an example of how a small change in lightbulbs can change your space! ❤
Tires STINK too!!!! 🫤😖
it is HIGHLY satisfying to my AuDHD brain to hear you speak at super high speed. love the sarcasm, too.
