Hi Karen. Thank you so much for this video. I wanted to chime in on an additional benefit of the Wash Away Threads. I took 6 yards of fabric and some cotton batting and made a practice quilt. I stitched horizontal lines 6 inches apart and stitched up the sides. I use this to practice my quilting on my domestic and longarm machines. By using the wash away thread, I'm able to use this piece over and over. When the practice quilt is full, I simply spray the back, pull out the top threads, and throw it in the wash. This method saves money and doesn't create surplus in my sewing space. I also use it to warm up when I'm in the middle of a quilt and have had to walk away. I hope someone can use this idea. It has saved me a lot of money and resources! Thank you so much for your awesome videos!

WOW!! I what a great video on thread! Personally, I struggle with sewing on binding. More often than not it comes out flappy. I can hardly wait to bind another project so I can use some fusible thread. I have heard of this thread before, but didn’t know why or how I would use it in a project. I took sewing in junior high back in the day when schools offered classes like that. But really got into and enjoying sewing 3 years ago. Everything I know today is self taught by watching videos like yours on RUclips. Your videos are amazing and I have learned so much from you. Thank you and Happy sewing!

I come from a long line of quilting women, that doesn’t include me. However, I’ve watched many of your videos and am ready to do my first. Before I start on my quilt, I want to do something with an heirloom quilt. This quilt is completely hand-sewn and quilted by my grandmother in sweet pinks in the nine patch block. The only “Problem” is a large white center with a hand appliqué of a falling raggedy Ann with creepy eyes. I can remove the appliqué, but don’t know how to add anything without messing up the back. Will the disappearing thread work best?

I LOVE Wonderfil products. They truly do make magic thread! I have been using their invisible thread for a couple years (I think it’s called Invisifil), and it is a beautiful 100 weight quilting thread for projects that have really high contrasting elements, like dramatic black & white projects or panel quilts. Super fine, but super strong, and goes through my home machine like a dream. I use 80 weight bobbin thread for the best tensile strength. Their reflective thread is great on pet products and kids’ costumes for Halloween.
