- Take a look back at the last hundred years of women's shoes. From the peep toe cutouts of the 1930s and the kitten heels of the 1960s to the disco diva platforms of the 1970s and the comfy and warm Ugg boots of the early 2000s, here is how women's shoes have transformed over the last century.

What about converse and sneakers?
aberdeen ikr???
They focus more on new designs of shoes which weren’t around in other decades trainers have been around for like 50 years
Or vans
aberdeen fairly sure they've done one on sneakers/sports shoes which is what converse were originally. They were known as basketball shoes at one point. It's what my dad wore when he played bball for the navy.
And balarena
Wouldn’t Converse, Vans, Adidas Superstars, or Nike Air Force 1s been more appropriate for the 2010s?
Yes, pretty much everyone has been wearing Nikes (men and women) for a while now. This is coupled with women constantly wearing leggings day-to-day.
i think it should've been combat boots
Or even clear heeled heels or thigh high boots
literally all of those shoes were super popular before the 2010s. If anything I think Birkenstocks have only become super popularized more recently. Maybe chelsea boots as well since both men and women wore them a lot in the past 10 years.
Sarah L The Air Force ones came out in the 70’s maybe the 80’s.. I think.🤔
Literally everytime they do a 2010s its because one celebrity wore them
And that one celebrity being Robert Downey Jr.
wowi ikr the ones for 2010 is what Second graders wear because they think it looks good
I'm not a celebrity and I have some of those
@@savannah4867 and I am not a 2 grader I'm way older than that and I think they look perfectly nice
@@daysyferreira610 only if you were like 10 then I have never seen someone older then 10 that is not a celebrity wearing those
I was a teen in the 80s, and I don't remember seeing anyone except guys wearing Doc Martens until the early 90s. We wore jelly shoes in the 80s, along with huaraches.
nah chicks wore doc martens, but i agree crust punks and stuff made that popular in the 90s and also we didnt wear THOSE types of docs...
Yes!!! The Jelly shoes in the 80’s and the boots in the 90’s.
Agreed
My single digit years were during the eighties, and when I was in kindergarten and maybe early elementary school, jelly shoes were so popular among my classmates that I can *still* remember it. They were like one of the top things that other little girls talked about.
Though I not had a pair, I first though jellies as well!
They really couldn’t find a better shoe for 2010s?!
Somehow I really like those boots?? Maybe I just like ugly stuff..but I think they are lovely.
I have literally never seen those shoes before.
pyrotheevilplatypus I have two pair😅
Even if we want to forget... It happened lol they were all over.
I know they should have just put vans or something
Those hideous wedge running shoes (2010s) were popular for about five minutes. There's got to be a better option for the 2010s. What would you say, viewers? Maybe just high-end trainers in general, without the heel/wedge?
AM B it’s the same for every decade. The shoes they pick aren’t necessary what everyone wore, just something that became a fad somewhere during those ten years. For example, most people weren’t wearing flip flops in the fifties. That’s just when they started becoming popular. They use photos as examples, but that’s just one photo of what people wore. Today people wear a wide range of things. It was the same then, too.
These videos are fun to watch, but they only show a bit of history.
I would say like vans or converse are pretty popular but I guess it just really depends on someone’s opinion...
The hate towards those boots in unnecessary 😤😤
So this whole series they have is just a way to promote different designers clothings such as those shoes non of these shoes are historically accurate but kind of resembles the original eras style but they where made by some one that just wants free promotions
Those got more popular during 2018 so
and then there’s me, who’s been wearing really nothing but converse since the 90’s.
I second that!
SAME!!!! Bury me with them!!!!!
Flip it and reverse it. Jellies were very 80’s and Timbs were very 90’s.
Where were the Timberlands anyways? They were HUGE in the 90s.
I may had not existed during the 50's but even I'm aware that flip flops weren't the shoe that made the 50's...
Yeah, you're probanly right.
Then what were?
@@lulalaar7598 Kitten heels were a 50's thing. I did extensive research for a project and they were a big part of Cristian Diors 'new Look' that was for the 50's post-war era
@@zvign7554 I thought saddle shoes were mostly worn by girls/teenagers in the 50s.
Or ballet flats.
This felt like a middle school presentation lol
Yeah
It did
True that
Lol yea
2010s I don´t agree, those wedge sneakers were a temporary fashion for a few months, nothing more, Converse are more appropiate.
Yes or maybe for early 2010's, Heely's. Unless you count that just for kids.
Or Keds
@@w_whitaker Omg I remember heelys
I still hear wedge sneakers and wedge booties...Im short and while I like heels, I also like comfort..they give me height and comfort..then again I wear what I like and dont care to follow trends. I also wouldnt wear them with skirts or dresses just pants like you would a normal pair of sneakers.
true
Is it just me who's obsessed with the 1970's shoe? I would totally wear that!
Nope loving it too
They still sell those everywhere, my mom has a pair
I Want a pair of those heels, for a good reason indeed.
I used to have those when I was 4 years old. But I don’t have any heels now when I’m 11.
I thought they were too modern I’ve seen crazier ones
I have sold women's clothing and shoes for the last 20 years. I barely remember the hidden wedge sneakers for 2010. Birkenstocks would have been a much better choice.
or white sneakers
i agree and i’m a teenager. birkenstock’s would have been way better or even vans or nike shoes
What about converse
Yeah I distinctly remember it lasting for around two years in my middle school...around the same time as colored skinny jeans actually.
Hahaha what?! Birkenstocks nooooo! everyone is saying converse or some flat shoe. I think it should have been louboutins or some kind of pump
Why did they give the poor girl with the thickest legs Uggz that don’t fit over her ankles?!?! That wasn’t very nice.
I also doubt that well nutritioned legs were common around 1910, 1920. They would have fitted better with the 50s, 60s. Figure shapes and nutrition are kind of an important side note regarding those years and the fashion topic, which play a major role in understanding those time frames and the fashion evolution in general.
@@valek7700 the year uggs were represented was 2000's...
As a chunky-legged gal, I have to say that finding any mid-calf or longer boots to fit (at a reasonable price point) is about as difficult as finding a faithful man on a reality show.
I mean, do Uggz even come in wide-calf?
@@asphodelale Samezees! ..... I had a pair of chunky stretchy pleather ones in 2001 but since then, I gave up :)
Valele Kalele you're wrong, look at old photographs. I dont know what you mean by well nutritioned legs, but if assuming that you mean "not skinny", then you're wrong because being skinny wasn't really a goal then. Not at all.
Wasn’t the 80s more like sneakers and running shoes and the 90s where more doc Martins
Yes
Someone didn't do research. My grandmother and mom wouldn't wear flip flops in the 50s. And the 80s and 90s are wrong. I remember that time.
I wore jellies when I was a little girl in the early 90s also in the 80s those boots was popular it was mentioned on I Love the 80s
Excuse me I'm sorry but your mom?
@@daysyferreira610 I assume the commenter is in their late 40s-50s idk tho or later.
Just because your mom and grandmother didn’t wear something it doesn’t mean it wasn’t the popular style of that time era, not everyone have the same taste in style.
@@sozinguyen1230 it wasnt a popular style though. kitten heels, pumps, wedges, oxfords and flats were what a lot of people wore

The 1910 outfit really annoys me. It's the 19'hundreds, come on Glamour, we all knew they wore thick wool socks and long dresses, not sheer nylon stockings and a skirt that opens in the front to show a whole lotta leg
Dana Nørgaard THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone gets it
True..
Also it had a zipper. There wouldn’t have been a zipper on boots yet. It took a while for the zipper to catch on
Also, after the 1920’s they appear to stop wearing any stockings or such, though I may be mistaken.
They are showing *SHOES NOT OUTFITS*
I wore Jelly shoes in the 80s, early 80s. I wasn't a punk so I didn't wear those boots.
2010, I dont know about those shoes, i think even a gladiator sandal would of been more to the point.
Yeah, gladiator sandals would have been a much better fit. They're EVERYWHERE. I've never seen that shoe they featured for the 2010s, though.
Exactly the jelly ones were 80s for sure... 90s were grunge boots with skirts
Carolina Rosales ....I wore the jelly sandals in the late 50's, then my girls wore the in the 80's. 😄😄

How are almost none of these actually accurate
Jelly shoes first became a trend in the late 1970's. I could only find a brown pair as a kid, so my mom told me they were root beer flavored. Also the '70 platform was a throwback to 1940's styles.
The Platform came Back during the 90ies. Look at the Spice Girls
Oddly, they didn't feature the platform shoe in the forties in this video. This series has a lot of misses.
Root beer flavored! Your mom was so clever! 😂

Yup to the jellies in the 80s
Tonia Rogers that’s why I clicked here. Jellies were so 80’s it’s crazy. They so got it WRONG !
I wore jellies even in the 2000s
You're absolutely right, they got it backwards. Jelly shoes in the early 80's, Docs in the early 90's (speaking as a person that actually wore these styles).
The platforms of the 1970's were inspired by the platforms of the 1940's, which you barely mentioned. The platforms that came out of wartime rationing in Paris during the 1940's were completely revolutionary to shoe design and were of major historical importance to the decade! Without the 1940's, you'd never have had the inspiration for the platforms of the 1970's. It feels as though you put about 5 minutes of research into each decade.
The 1910's are definitely my favourites. They look so different!
really? those 2010 shoes are the ugliest things ever what about vans, converse, addias superstars and all those brands that are popular?
2010 is beautiful
You must like boy shoes cause those are very plain😕

Converse have been around for decades and started as men's shoes. This video is to showcase styles that were distinctive of their decade.
@@H6TE That person said the shoes shown for 2010 are the ugliest shoes and they're actually very cutesy feminine style shoes, then she says she prefers they used Van's, converse all stars,etc...Van's are a boy shoe design/brand or I guess could be unisex since girls wear them, and converse including all stars were orginally used for sports by boys specifically to play basketball so which led to my assumption.....

They also made a comeback in the early 2000's and just recently a few years ago. I remember in 2004 I had a couple pairs myself and now my younger sister has a pair but they were definitely popular in the 80's not the 90's

Also in Yugoslavia, jelly sandalas were popular in 80's
I’ve been binge watching all of the videos during online school ;-;
You really should rename this series "Things That Were Worn By A Small Population But We Want You To Think This Was The Norm." I had jellies in 1985. And outside of the grunge/punk, docs were not generally worn in the 80s. It was kitten heels, high top Reeboks, Chuck Taylors, and Granny Boots. Docs became more part of the norm in the 90s with the continued rise of grunge.
