I can't even describe how much I love this video. It's not only the wildness of someone going from hip-length hair to a buzz cut, it is educational, it's funny. The swapping between long and shorter hair kills me!! It is so good! It's amazing!!
I cant get over the planning that it took!
the very last short style and buzzcut are intentionally ugly, it makes the world worse.
Putting in pandemic haircuts was so on point
this is SO planned out, so meticulous, very well done!!!
That was my thought exactly! Especially with having to plan out which styles to do while still with long hair. Needing to rememeber to film each of those styles before chopping, then editing all the footage to get it all in chronological order 👍🙌

I so often see fashion history people write off the 17th Century as "ugly" but as a fan of the Louis XIII-XIV period in general I found it INCREDIBLE to see portraits that I've studied come to life.
17 century ugly?
Disagreed at least on the noble males.
17 century male nobles wore natural long hair (not a wig yet) and did actually dress well (not the boring suits or t-shirts, neither the too much of rococo)
@@annasolovyeva1013Beau Brummel did make men's fashion rather boring.
I have watched this video so many times over the last year since it came out, just marvelling over the planning and editing that went into getting this chronologically correct.
But also can I just say how much you absolutely nailed these, because as soon as 1970s you came on the screen I was immediately reminded of my mother, who was born in the late 50s, a teen in the 70s, and wore that feathered front style all the way through my childhood til at least the mid 2000s. IIRC she literally only stopped doing it when her hot roller set died 😂
Also as soon as 1990s you came on I was like "hey, Monica Lewinsky!"
Amazing how these things get burned into our memory, especially when we're kids.
Anyway! Still loving this video and I think it should be used for reference for decades to come ❤
Can you imagine how much planning and organizing this took to be able to know when she could cut her hair as needed over 500 years and which parts she needed longer and the in between? Then putting it all together, and editing.. that's insanely dedicated and amazing. I've never seen a video like this.
I have a weird take away from this video, the way you didn't mention the mod movement in the sixties being almost the first androgynous style. I feel like it was an important moment in the History of fashion and find it really weird the focus was on longer hair cuts, it's not like they were just more popular because the mod movement genuinely thrived through all the 60s,70s and eighties and then to make an amazing strong style comeback in the 90s due to British bands like blur
I’m still totally go smacked by this video 2 days after viewing it! I’ve followed Morgan for a while now as well as several of her historic interest cohorts, and their hair has been such a large part of their identity. I’m wondering if Morgan has any regrets with going through such a drastic change?

It only occurred to me a week after that she must have organised it by what styles would need longer to shorter hair
The fact that she so casually chopped her hair off when the hairstyles got shorter-- true dedication

Absolutely brilliant. She clearly did tons of research and practice, and imparted her knowledge beautifully and with great charm. I'm old, I've studied hairstyles informally over the years, but this is the first time I've found anything of this depth and thoroughness! Yes. Definitely.
Thank you so much …
I think she must have wanted the buzz cut all along.

@Tanya Clevenger I did that too, I had hair to my bum, and cut it right off very very short. It was very liberating and afterwards I realised to never cut it again that short! So yes, some people are long hair lovers and some short hair.. And some can never grow their hair really really long.:)

It's just hair tho
@@erinthepigeon904 As someone who literally shaves my head once every two months, yes, I do know that it's just hair and that it grows back. But people tend to get attached to their hair, especially when it's so long, because it takes years of care to get it to that length.

@@millyboop2047 - Yes! I didn't think of that! I braid my hair once and my arms are done.
literally same
me who's arms hurt after making a normal high pony-
Meanwhile she's like "It kinda works" while displaying this freaking elaborate tapestry of hair.
This was absolutely incredible!!!!. this is SO planned out, so meticulous, very well done!!!.
I had watched a lot of your videos and then went back and watched this one and it took me much longer than I care to admit to realize this is when you did the buzzcut. The cutting back to where you needed more hair for the style was awesome. I can't imagine the planning that this must have taken. 12/10 commitment to the content and story. Awesome. Just fabulous. I can't say enough nice things about this vid. Well done, Morgan! (and bold and so cool to experience the different cuts with you through this vid.)
The utter lack of fear you had while just lopping off 2 feet of hair was astounding. Amazing
While I've never had hair quite as long as her, I've definitely gone from bra strap length hair to a short pixie cut a couple of times in my life. Usually when you get to that point, you're just done with messing with the long hair and are excited to get rid of it lol. My hairdressers were usually more nervous than I was hahahaha. I will say the worst part is the growing out process. Soooo many awkward in between lengths to get through. I'm lucky that my hair grows incredibly fast, so chopping it all off is never that big of a deal to me.
@@bunny_0288 I agree. I had long hair quite a few times in my life and the last one was down to my butt. You get to apoint wher eyou're just DONE with it and want it GONE!!!
@@bunny_0288 Haha~ Similar experience with hair dressers. My hair grows fast as well and have had several long periods where maintaining a short style wasn't feasible.....and then you go in and tell them to cut it all off.....oh, and I want a side shave too....oh, and lets start bleaching it out so it can be purple~......and they just stare with that nervous smile asking, "Oh, are....you super sure?" like five times.... I don't envy them their jobs. I assume most of them are a bit gun shy from having screaming diva meltdowns when they have to snip a few inches off of their crazy client's heat damaged hair and 'butcher' them.... Honestly, girls. It grows back....take a deep breath and move on.
I cute thirteen inches off once :)
@@bunny_0288 i went from having my hair down to my lower back to a full undercut in one day. i have EXTREMELY thick hair- it ended up as like a carpet under my poor hairdresser's feet. it's nice to have long hair, but now i can just buy a wig if i want long hair, so why bother with dealing with it every day?
As someone who recently had to cut off all their hair for some pretty personal reasons, seeing you do this absolutely beautiful educational project while also casually taking off more and more of your own hair was somehow very healing to me. So amazing in so many ways!
I had to do have my hair cut short a few years back as well (Damaged right hand with possible unlimited loss of feeling in it) I went to the hair salon and told them to please cut my long hair to a short easily manageable cut before I'm forced to walk around with a mat on my head.
After seeing this amazing video I regret not even taking before and after pics or something.
@Lymaara: I hope you get to enjoy your shorter hair no matter the reason for it :)
I got my hair cut a few years ago and ever since I have never let it grow over my shoulders. I took it really easily and it is just hair after all. There is so much you can do with it and I think more people should explore with their hair and not try to stay with the current trend
I had to cut all my hair off cause my hairdresser ruined it I asked for a fringe and she cut it very short and also cut all my hair at the back of when I specifically told her not too
@@jazzy3442 Oh no!
Cutting your hair short should always be your own decision. Even if it's one forced by circumstance (thanks MS I hated it) but it should still be your own decision.
I hope the shorter cut was a good one and for free.
I’m thinking about cutting my hair off due to Trichotillomania
This is so great! I am going to finish some of it later but one of the best videos I’ve seen on RUclips. Such a interesting way to look back. Thank you and God bless!
The editing in this video was like magic. I enjoyed the history. I appreciate the commitment and time devoted to this video. 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
I lost all my hair this year to cancer and now I'm rocking a buzz cut and to see you whip out that razor really touched my heart. Thank you for your wonderfully educated video
Wishing you swift healing.
@@McCammalot As much as your wish is kind, wishes do nothing. Now praying to the one †rue God for miraculous healing... That's a different story.
I know a woman who was born with a shriveled leg. She had always been that way and everyone had always known of her condition because it was obvious, but one day on a tour bus she was prayed for and her leg was healed. In that very moment, it grew before everyone's eyes!!! My close friend even witnessed this. She now has a healthy, normal leg! And that's FAR from the only report I could give you.
God is real. Contrary to popular disbelief. And it is disbelief which keeps these things from happening more often. We are SO doubtful. So lacking in faith. That's why Chris† said that even if we had faith the size of a mustard seed (mustard seeds are very tiny), then, even with only THAT much faith, we could ask in God's name for mountains to move and they would. That's how much faith we lack. But we can even pray for God to give us better faith! So do it!
Do not merely wish... Pray!
@@McCammalot Thank you so much!! xx
@@ALivingFlame lmao what are you on about
@@ALivingFlame not everyone prays and believes in god, let people have their own beliefs.
What I am really getting from this is we, in general, have a tendency to keep getting styles fluffier and fluffier and bigger and bigger until a generation just decides "okay that's enough of that" and suddenly it deflates and the process restarts.
Its also the same with clothing. Things like sleeves and skirts get fuller or longer or in some way slowly evolves into an extreme where you really have nowhere else to go but down. and the it gets slimmer and slimmer until you have nowhere to go but up.
I can’t remember where, but supposedly there was a study that women’s skirts got shorter in general, the better an economy at the time was doing.
And glasses!
This was so well done. Just a fantastic job from beginning to end. 🙌🏽
This is sooooo entertaining! I loved watching it so much. I cannot believe how you rocked every single style!! You really looked right in every era!! Amazing!
6:40 GIRL I WAS SHOOK. I was like, "Is...is she really just going to cu- OH SHE JUST CUT IT!"

This has been an amazing journey! You are so committed and I applaud your bravery and tenacity!
I was just about to comment
Literally sitting here with my jaw on my desk shocked that she cut it lol
I was so shocked. I was honestly waiting for her to be like "just kidding, this isn't my real hair"
THE BUZZ CUT GOT ME BUT LIKE - HOW DOES SHE PULL IT OFF ???
I was crying 😭 I LOVE her long hair lol 🤣
When you snipped that first bit of hair, I literally gasped, then proceeded to watch in amazement! That was a lotta work you sacrificed for this video, before and after! Dedication, girl, dedication.
OMG, I have no interest in hair. This video just popped up and I was mesmerised. I had to watch it to the end! This girl is SOOO NICE, so easy, so free and so flipping brave!!! WELL DONE! where do I pay!!
Absolutely historic! Thank you so much for this video. I cannot believe all that you did and all the hair you cut!
This was a masterpiece. This better be trending asap. The effort, the research, the amazing final haircut. Dude. Like, bravo. Seriously. You should be so proud.
Frr
Ditto. Blown away
What do you mean amazing final haircut? It’s just a buzz cut…? Or do you mean the one before it?
@@lokibek they meant to not put a spoiler which is why they didn't say what the actual cut was but considering where her hair started to the final cut for the purpose of a video, it's amazing. Most of us would never.
@@TwistedLyfofTV Most of us *could* never
I've watched this with increasingly wide eyes, "She's NOT?!" "She IS!" Classy stealth over Morgan. It's a big deal to cut your hair off! You must be just about floating from the change of weight
Agreed
I had long hair, not as long as her but pretty long, and cut it down to a pixie mostly in order to donate the hair. It was SO MUCH FUN! My hairdresser was so happy to get to do this with me and we just had so much fun. And the weight difference and easy showers were great too!
Cut my hair like 2 years ago and before I cut it, it was so hard to brush out due to the thickness XD Anyways, once I cut it I felt FREE from the weight. It was about halfway on my back, and my head was always leaning back because of the WEIGHT!
I'm not even eight minutes in yet and I was just stunned that she really cut off the sections on the sides of her head for the 1630s look!! I can't wait to see what happens to the rest of it over the later eras. I thought she was just going to do the long hairstyles in any given period, when she began... this is seriously gutsy.
Classy stealth. I love that expression ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜. That's a keeper.
You look like a princess in all of these, genuinely mesmerized
This video is actually an absolute display of bravery. Kudos, that's awesome!
The first time you casually held up scissors and chopped - without a single bit of fanfare - I gasped and clapped. By the end of this video, STANDING OVATION, MA’AM!! I buzzed mine at the beginning of covid, and have zero regrets. Hair grows, trends come and go, but we get one life. Your video demonstrates that like no other I have ever seen. BRAVO 👏
my jaw dropped to the floor when you shaved all that hair off, totally didn't expect that, but you still rocked EVERY SINGLE hairstyle, the dedication, the research, and the final results were all masterpieces 🥰🥰
OMG SAME
I thought she just wanted to SHOW how it looked, but when I saw scissors I was like 👁👄👁
very cool! Thanks
Lol no offense but I wish this wasn't the top comment. It kinda ruined the surprise.
@@GreenHypnotherapy lol agreed
Thanks for Ruining the video
