@Mike I thought that limbo was only "The one where souls go before heaven" in Dante's Purgatorio. Otherwise, it's where souls who don't belong in either heaven or hell stay for eternity, instead. In Purgatorio, the souls are still stuck there for as long as it takes them to become "clean," don't they? THEN, they're allowed in heaven

I dont think the monster is the problem here, I mean the whole city is trying to kill that boy.
The function of the Monster is not to kill.
It is there (gameplaywise) to force the player to rush and thus making mistakes.
I figured the hell-dimension resembles Earth more at the boundary.

The way everything wants to kill this kid reminds me of the Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde game NES game. In both games every existing lifeform wants to end you for some reason. I really liked the spritework in this one, gave some good old school vibes.

I really liked that pounding strange music. It emphasized the building unease and fear you might have walking home alone.
The real world version, for all that extra work requiring a completely clean run , should have some bonus to the ending and not be the same as die and re-spawn. A pleasure watching you be so pro at that platforming~!
