I just watched ten tutorials on this stacked method. Yours is the clearest best demonstrated of them. I am teaching my sister how to crochet and will be sending her this video. I also just learned something new here that the stacked is way better than the pullup method I have been using for years. Well done!!!❤
Omg I stumbled upon this today and because of the gaps from my turning chains had discouraged me from continuing to crochet. This makes so much sense and makes me excited to pick my hook back up and get working!
Stacked single for this hooker! I crochet to relax. The second way somehow just doesn’t relax this girl. Thank you for sharing your talents with us Nicki. Always looking forward to seeing your next video!
I love the first one it is so much easier, I have been using the sing and the half double crochet I am so glad to see finally came out for double crochet ,
Wow, just found your channel. I had always used those stacked single crochets as a beginning chain to be lazy. However, this is a game changer! Thank You so much! You totally rock!
I’m so glad you found this video helpful and found my channel 😀 Have you checked out my tutorials and patterns on my website? Https://www.nickishomemadecrafts.com ❤️
I absolutely LOVE your channel! I always learn new things and you have great tutorials. Thank you for this great type, especially for us new crocheters.
I came here from your original video, which I watched and immediately it made me a fan. Watched this video and it officially made me a subscriber :] going to head over to watch your tricks for sc and hdc right now! (P.S. I agree, I totally prefer the stacked single crochet)
I have never liked the bumpy edge, to me it always made my projects look sloppy. I did try the loopy one a while back but was not impressed, for many reasons. But I just did a swatch of SC. HDC and DC using the stacked method and I am so very impressed with the ease of the stitch and the beautiful smooth, straight edges. I am a convert. Thank you so very much!
Great tutorial! I find that the loop-around dc works really well when I’m crocheting in the round. The stacked version is easiest when I’m not working in the round.
I love the way she does the alternative stitch since I never like the 2nd way she showed by pulling up the yarn to the height of a DC This new way helps on the border stitches also 🧶🧶🧶
This is terrific! I have tried the 2nd method before (the loopy one) but didn’t like it at all. I’ve been doing a single crochet plus 2 chains but I’m going to give the stacked single crochet a go. Thanks so much for sharing.
Nice video. The stsc variant makes it easy, but does create a visual and minor textural change in the appearance of the row; hence, keep careful count of your stitches--or place markers carefully. I use it for certain things, and others I use a variant on regular turning chains. Replacing: "Ch 3, turn -- dc in 4th chain from hook, dc to end of row" with "Turn -- stsc 2, dc to end of row" is nicer, and is not as dense as working an ldc across--though, they are useful for other things....appearance, density. Stacked is good for beginners, and Linked can be an option when needed, just like Extended, etc. Keep on Crocheting.
i have a quick question. There are what looks like 2 legs when you look at the side where you start the second single crochet. Are you going through both or just the one closest to you. But I have to say i love love love your stitch how to videos.
Thank you soo much! Love the “hack” techniques. The stacked SC are much neater and easier to work through. I’m wondering, if you have a technique to smooth edges when making ribbed rows?!? Like when making the band on a hat/beanie. Appreciate you!
Here’s my question… I am going to be making a blanket (I’m still beginner and I haven’t even made anything yet) and there are going to be 150 + 1 chains to begin with. I most definitely will have to count my stitches and use stitch markers. It’s a simple pattern where each and every row begins with a single crochet and ends with a double crochet. It calls for one turning chain at the end of each row as well. Using your method, would I still need that one turning chain? Or does this not even apply to this since the pattern does not call for a two or three chain turning chain? I just ripped it out because although I don’t have the gaps or bumps on the side the entire project looks like a smile when you lay it out flat. So I’m assuming I must’ve messed up somewhere. How can I prevent that from happening so I don’t have to frog it yet again? 😩

Nicki's Homemade Crafts I like your double stacked single crochet better.
I do like yours better
I *really* like the stacked much more than the 2nd version - it looks more uniform. I will definitely have to try it - thank you!!
Stacked double and triple stitch is what I was looking for. Thank you

I love you!!!! This stitch, your stitch is awesome!!
Stacked single crochet is my favorite. Thank you for that truck. I've always had a problem with that bumpy edge.
Thank you, Nicki. I prefer the first alternative better. I will begin incorporating it into my projects as much as I can.

I like the stacked single crochets better. I think it will be easier to remember!
I have a question when you do the stack SC do you actually turn the piece after or before you do it
This is great
Great. Thanks
So clever n easy x
Thank you 😀

I do! Look at my channel and look for “smooth edges”. Actually I grabbed the link for you here:

I am going to use the stack method.
Love that one 😀
Yay! So glad it was so helpful to you ❤️ thanks for watching my videos till the end 😀
Wow tysm
I use a chain 1 and a double crochet in the starting stitch
Nice!
Would it work with the Hdc (half double crochet)?
How do you do a linked dc with the alternative crochet

You would substitute the turning chain mentioned with my alternative turning chain ❤️
