Biblical Excavations presents A Relationship with the Hebrew Alphabet: Yud (י)

  • The tenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet is Yud (י). Its numerical value is 10. The letter means "hand" (Yad - יד), which the term first appears in the in the Garden of Eden story (Genesis 3:22). Yud also begins one of the names of God known as the Tetragrammaton (YHWH - יהוה), which means God above time - "The Eternal." This name of God also contains the idea of His Attribute of Mercy. The name first appears in the Bible in Genesis 2:4.
