- Interview with Linda Hansen Caldwell author of
"He Made Ice and Changed the World: The Story of Florida's John Gorrie"
John Gorrie the father of refrigeration invented the Ice machine and used Ice to cool the air before Carrier invented the air conditioner. However Dr Gorrie was much more than an inventor!
Be sure and get a copy of the book yourself and share his story with others.

NOTE: Not a paid promotion, I purchased my own copy of this book, and visited on my own time and expenses. We do hope Linda will be able to financially break even one day for her investment to make this book happen. we are impressed and motivated by her passion.
That was an exciting interview. Thanks for keeping us aware of his life and accomplishments and for leading the Gorrie group.
Proud to call her a Friend !
TY, thank you so much for doing this great interview and for allowing Linda to publicize some of Dr. Gorrie's accomplishments.
I purchased the book as a result of this video. Thanks to Ty.
THANK YOU LINDA CALDWELL AND TY BRANAMAN FOR YOUR VIDEO !!!!!
Never even heard of John Gorrie before..
Thank you ty...
Very intersting :)
Wow ty, this is huge. Ive been in the trade for going on 24 years now and i was taught way back then that carrier invented what we know today as refrigeration and im pretty sure almost everybody was taught that, never even heard of this gorry guy. Very interesting
I teach about Dr Gorrie in class but I did not realize the humanitarian side.
I will be making a video about him from my perspective and my visit to the John Gorrie State museum.
Also, Willis Carriers first apparatus to control temperature and humidity did not use refrigerant. He used cool ground water that was below dew point.
Hello Linda, this is Ryan Miller
Hey Ty, where are you??? We miss you so much... Hope you are well,,, i am eagerly waiting for your electrical videos related to hvac...
This is so cool
Good interview Ty! Copeland claims "first in refrigeration" but I had my doubts. I read about him years back when i first started looking into HVAC/R. I wonder if he used some kind of mechanical compression device? Research time!
❄️John Gorrie ❤️🔥💪🏻

Hi there great videos I have a question 🙋♂️
I know you visit different hvac schools. Can you help me out I’m trying to see if “TOTAL TECH” is a good hvac program can you let me know if it’s a good program? Plz it’s in Nashville TN. It’s a two week program 100 hours. Hope to hear back thanks 🙏 love your videos .
I am not familiar with them at all. I will add them to the list of schools to check out.
Would like your opinion. Should I install a soft start on my new Goodman 2.5 ton condensing unit ? Thank you !!
If you have a generator or generator backup yes.
Otherwise it's not required but does help.
Can you help? Please. Looking for a low pressure safety switch with manual reset for a residential ac 410a unit. Thanks in advance. Mike
Hi Mike,
You will need the brand and the model number of the outdoor unit.
From there it can be located
hello mister i want pdf hvac book please
If he had lived a little longer he might have watched his invention get popular, then get ripped off like so many others.
How Oliver evans
Oliver Evans proposed the first design for the first refrigerator in 1805.
Jacob Perkins actually made the first refrigerator, based on Olivers idea in 1834.
1851 John Gorrie built and patented the first ice machine. Using the ice to cool food and people.
