Luckily, we got new movies and series that will, hopefully, bring Star Wars back to being on top. Great reason as always, Quokka, and enjoy the last movie of the Skywalker Saga.
The biggest reason I hear why people hate the movie is the way Luke's character was, here's my take on it that no one will probably read. 😂 A lot of things can change a person with years, Luke's no exception. The responsibility of building a new Jedi order was his, but then he saw the mind of his own family influenced by evil. He'd been through that before so wanted to stop it but quickly realized that wasn't the way to go . He made a mistake and because of that his own family fell to the dark. Because of that, seeing his own family fall because of him he just wanted to be done with it. I don't know if anyone who reads this has made a mistake and had people turn away from them because of that but It really takes a lot out of you and changes your mind set, you definitely don't want to keep going that same path. He did redeem himself in the end so I thought it was great. I thought his character was fine.
People just wanted him to be the bad ass jedi they "remember" but he never was a bad ass jedi. At best he used the dark side a few times and stayed with the light. If they try referencing the books I always remind them that luke literally became an apprentice of the cline emperor for a while.... soooo yea him lifting his blade in fear in one moment of weakness... not honestly out of character. I like your take and it's honestly more or less how I took it.

Star Wars is a unique franchise. Your views on it, are likely down to when you started watching it. I was the perfect target audience in 1977; a 4 year old boy. I lived through the era where it was simply 3 movies, through the creation of the Expanded Universe, leading to the Special Editions (the 1st official quality VHS), the Prequels, the Clone Wars, Rebels, and the Final Order. I lived through the hype from each of the prequels, and the subsequent let down. By the time the Sequel Trilogy arrived, I had a more open mind. If you just watch the Sequel trilogy at face value, there's plenty there to love. This is where I think a lot of Reaction channels are, with pretty much every movie they watch. It's their chosen side-hustle to watch movies, so they want to maximise their time by watching different movies. If you look a bit deeper, or you're invested in the universe, you have a lot of pre-conceived ideas on where the existing characters should have gone, in terms of character and story arcs. I don't like them, but I don't dislike them either. For me, it was always destined to fail, the way it was conceived. It was marketed as a SEQUEL. This is why you have Episode VII, VIII and IX. A sequel is meant to exist in the SAME universe as the thing it's a sequel to. It's the same history, lore, and magic. The magic part of Star Wars is both how the Force works, and how things like Lightspeed, Hyperspace, laser blasts etc work. The sequels changed how the Force worked, rather significantly. They changed how hyperspace works. Sequels should focus their main cast around the heroes from the original, if possible. There's already a blueprint in the Expanded Universe. The sequels focussed around a cast of new, young characters, and relegated the originals to bit-parts. Han and Leia were a long established double act in the Expanded Universe. Along with Chewie, C3P0, R2D2, Lando, Luke and some others frequently bounce from mission to mission. She's a Jedi Knight, Luke is a Grand Master. Contrast that to where these characters are in the Sequels. Start with that base, and the Sequels have a completely different tone. There should be a varied "passing of the torch" over the course of the trilogy, to set the younger ones up as the main cast in future movies. It was made as a reboot, and marketed as a sequel. There's a HUGE built in audience for a SEQUEL, but not so much for a REBOOT. They tried to straddle both realms, and delivered a watchable product.
Pretty fair take I'd say. At least you justify your viewpoint. I like the sequels but don't love them. They are about equal to the prequels to me. But with their own slew of problems. The OT reigns Supreme
Even if I wasn't biased due to my preference for the original EU, I don't think I'll ever warm up to this one. Too much of the plot relies on the good guys juggling idiot balls to work. 1. The big one: Finn and Rose's mission was entirely unnecessary and ultimately detrimental to the Resistance...not that they'd know that til it was too laye because Holdo didn't bother letting anyone know there was a better plan, let alone what it was. 2: Finn and Rose tank their mission because...they illegally parked. Seriously? I know they're in a rush but you'd think they'd take care to make sure their ship wouldn't get impounded or them arrested because they couldn't use an actual landing pad. 3: Luke's character assassination. So Mr. Luke "I can't kill my own father no matter how evil he's been for 20 years" Skywalker was gonna kill his nephew in cold blood? And people wonder why we prefer EU Luke to this guy... 4: Gee Rose it's a good thing Luke sacrificed himself to bail the Resistance out or you stopping Finn from sacrificing himself to bail the Resistance out, and rendering all the other pilots who died meaningless, would have been even more stupid. 5: Poe...what gave you the bright idea to cluster up slow moving ground bombers for an attack run on a spaceship? Yeah. And there's more but I've probably ranted too long.
quokka , if you look at Snoke's forehead, he has a huge gash in it, that would kill anyone, i think he is a corpse and that figure in black in the background is using him like a puppet
Your reaction was much better than the Last Jedi. There were plenty of things I liked about the movie, but the biggest issue, which ruins the movie, was how they handled Luke. Luke in no way would have behaved the way he did in that movie. He had no issue about killing his nephew, but could not kill his dad, the evil Darth Vader, someone who basically was a stranger. Plus the scene where he throws the lightsaber over his shoulder, just for a laugh, cheapens the emotional ending of thd Force Awakening. Furthermore, the scene with Yoda just further dimishes the legend of Luke Skywalker, making him look like a fool.

I'm glad some people might not mind this, but I can't stand this movie anymore, and the sequels as a whole. It destroys Luke's character, is boring, etc. I wish more realized that. They also took out Luke's mourning scene when he found out about Han. I can't believe they did that. I also hate Holdo. Luke also force-projected himself as the last version of himself Leia, Ben, and everyone else remembers him as. That's why he looks younger. There's also a theory that BB-8 says "I have a bad feeling about this" which caused Poe to say "happy beeps here, buddy, come on", and that the music at 4:12 is a re-done version of RotS's Battle of the Heroes theme. The Emperor's theme also plays when Snoke is mind controlling Rey.
they should have had Finn & Rose have a relationship ,they looked well together , but of course NEW star wars has NO LOVE or Romance like the old ones just bad stories that go NOWHERE from one one movie to the next and no FUN ... and REY could have hooked up with POE or Kylo she matched well with them
I’m not a grifter or hater. But this movie is awful. Visually it is amazing. Story: bad. Characters: bad. I have accepted whetvthey did to Luke. But for the new characters they did Finn dirty. I hated this film. I now know who the audience they made this film for is.
I’m glad someone could enjoy it
I think I was their target audience because I loved it haha
So glad you don't listen to the
Complainers. This is a gift movie and I was enjoying it when you. You will love the final one, especially. Don't listen to haters. It's my favorite of the sequels.
Why would you want a vicious killer that murdered his own father to be lovers with the hero. You don't think she deserves better??
they should have had Finn & Rose have a relationship ,they looked well together , but of course NEW star wars has NO LOVE or Romance like the old ones just bad stories that go NOWHERE from one one movie to the next and no FUN ... and REY could have hooked up with POE or Kylo she matched well with them
The single WORST lightsaber fight scenes in the movie series history.
@@FosterTravis1071 no. That would be Kenobi V Vader ep 4.
You cant be serious, it was awesome!
This movie is so terrible love your reaction though
I’m not a grifter or hater. But this movie is awful. Visually it is amazing. Story: bad. Characters: bad. I have accepted whetvthey did to Luke. But for the new characters they did Finn dirty. As a storyteller this movie is just ….. not good. You can love it. That is fine. But I do not love it, or the next one.
