Great video and images, Ben; those structures really suit long exposures. I headed up to Hunstanton and Old Hunstanton earlier this year to shoot some Astro images; definitely a challenging location for that, especially from the promenade beach because the lights are so harsh. But I managed to get some reasonably decent images and a vlog out of it, together with wet feet!
They do really come to life when you apply a ten stop filter. It happens with many ‘every day’ jetties and piers - everyone walks past them all the time without any consideration for them being an actual photograph. Vlogging in the dark is tough, I have done a few (lightning tutorial and one Astro video) and my lens fogged up and it was a nightmare!
Thank you for the deja vu! It didn't sound like you were very happy with the pic at 04:00 but I'm quite the fan of this type of high-contrast image: Leading line to the structure, very nice. The two at 08:30 are great too, can't decide which I like better, the straight on or the oblique angle. Good you have both. Thanks for the opportunity to see them in HD. Cheers!
Brian, that shot nearly didn’t make the video at 4mins, it looked great to the human eye but on the back of the camera I immediately told Myself it was a stupid idea! I love high contrast images, especially portraits.
When I edit the video I end up watching everything at-least five times - maybe more. I still like this video, although I can still remember the sound of my camera hitting the beach!
I completely understand your stance. Went to Minnesota's Split Rock lighthouse on Lake Superior about a week ago and I completely misread the Photopills sun position. Went there for sunset and guess what? Sun rose behind the lighthouse, not set :(
In theory you could get a sunset here, just not on a clear blue sky day - I was shooting straight into the sun. But in the winter the sun would be further around, you wouldn’t;t have to worry about your shadow getting into the shot etc. I just need to stop going here in the summer and trying to capture sunset! Haha.
I drove for 8 hours, spent 2 hours editing the photos and 4 hours editing the video. I thought it should at least be appreciated in HD!
Hi Ben. Well, I was a fan of the previous video and certainly a fan of this one. I enjoyed watching it again. Your images are great.

Enjoyed it the second time around.

Love the pictures of the soil pipe and discharge marker, what a pile of sh...... .
Only joking, nicely composed, exposed and executed, well done!
Haha, funny what make a great photo!
Remarkable images which definitely deserve more than 360p
Thank you Marcus - much appreciated.
Brilliant video Ben with some great tips
Thanks Sarah, glad you enjoy it.
fair play Ben, still good to watch it again
Cheers Jim!

Nice to see you nice
Thanks Paul, I hope that you are keeping well!
Fine, I'll force myself to watch this in 4K. I do prefer the 360p 🤣
It is funny how ‘OK’ it looks in 360p - it looks like the whole video was buffering!
