Lex would love Knights of cydonia. That riff at the end! U gotta see em live they are awesome. The live at Wembley or Rome are good versions. Or try more of the rocking ones like New Born or Plug in baby.
i was just going to suggest that one. that song is so hype.
The Live in Rome is way better than the one from Wembley imho, you need that intro. :)
They're my favorite live band right now.
Knights of Cydonia is one of the greatest music videos ever
I think y’all need to go back further. Try Hysteria. It’s driven by one of the best bass lines ever recorded. In my opinion, of course.
Time is running out ! Great older song of them.
Why is no one ever recommending Knights of Cydonia? Easily their best song
If you want to go back to the very beginning it has to be Uno, Muscle Museum or Sober from the Showbiz album...
I've been said that for a long time... that track is 🔥
I agree!
I love how she was into this! She was feeling this! Great to see her feeling this. This is a great song.
Nice! That is one of their best songs. Now listen to "Knights of Cydonia," "Madness," "Hysteria," "Plug In Baby," "Supermassive Black Hole," "Map of the Problematique," "Starlight," "United States of Eurasia," "Neutron Star Collision," or "Mercy." I'm missing some but there are so many great Muse songs, you can't go wrong with any of those!
You forgot 'Stockholm Syndrome'.
You forgot "Time is Running Out"
Indeed, this is a great song. It was wildly successful too. The chorus has been sampled in a lot of different places a lot in the sports environments and even as bumper music for talk radio shows.
Their track "Butterfly's and Hurricanes" is another great track by this band, highly recommend checking it out, Live at Wembley in particular!!!
Just listened to it, didnt care for it. This song is really good though.
stockholm syndrome is the best
Oh yes, I love that song, really 😍
I love Muse. My favorite band. Been to last 4 albums concert tours. Their shows are great. You should watch the video for "Knights of Cydonia" since you just did space themed songs.. It's like a space western thingy.
Muse are pretty underrated imo. 'Resistance' and 'Undisclosed Desires' are also good songs from this album. 'Supermassive Black Hole' is also another good song
Muse underrated....yeah in what world ?
@@LiesThatBind a world where boomers rule us politically and culturally
underrated ?? they are one of the top bands of the 10's and 20's
True. But also very popular since the late '90s - '00s. Well known group.
@@chrisbelos2834 underrated in the U.S. the rest of the world they are huge!
Much of this album was inspired by 1984 by G. Orwell.
Muse are absolutely, monstrously huge in the UK and Europe. They have a reputation for amazing live shows with ridiculous audiences. Other commenters have left recommendations for their other great songs. Madness is one of my favorites
i'm sure they still did an arena tour in the USA after this song was popular there
This band is awesome live. Went to see them on their Drones tour.
Massive Queen and glam rock vibes on the album this is on...
Muse really deserves a deeper dive. They can't seem to write a bad song. Even their b-sides are better than most bands. I prefer their earlier work. They won me over initially as a resulting of trying concert videos on RUclips. Many full concerts can be found.
Muse has some incredibly fun songs to listen to. Check out songs like psycho, reapers, supermassive black hole, plug in baby, newborn, Knights Of Cydonia, etc. In fact, just watch their live concert video from Rome. Insane!
Call me is the song you're thinking of. You did yourself and Muse a disservice by listening to the radio edit. I'd recommend their new song Won't Stand Down and others like, Cave, Uno, Muscle Museum, Citizen Erased, Apocalypse Please, Microcuts, Coma, Citizen Erased etc.
No sampling was done by anyone, maybe a slight homage or coincidence to the song I mentioned.
this song live with tens of thousands shouting every word in abject defiance is an absurdly powerful experience. Best live band on the planet for the past 20 years now
Lex moves her hands like an orchestra director. She feels the music
Some feel the music others just hear it
When you both were talking something sounded familiar ... especially the "So come one!". I have a feeling it's Blondie - Call Me that your recalling. It's always reminded me of that song!
Yeah that was intentionally done, the guitar bend (and vocals under it) are meant to replicate the "Call Me!" tag
In this episode of Brad & Lex, "buh dun bum bum" said the drum to the crew of two who await the synth and synthy vocals of Matt Bellamy which activates Lex's pantomime handlebar and conductor "bop" infused movements that sync up with Brad's signature "side to side sway" occasionally as the couple ride the "gallopy" beat off into the sunset only to return with stories of "rally cries", deviancy and customer service.
Stellar
This is the type of band that sounds even better live. And they put on a show that definitely makes you go "WOAH".
One of the best modern alt rock bands out there. Very talented, diverse, and accomplished. Lots of their songs have deep messages, socially awareness, politics, and anthems. Also paranormal stuff too like outer space, extraterrestrial, etc. They have a huge catalog going back to the '90s. Their concerts are entertaining and large crowds. Nice videos and they are an excellent live band. They are the Queen and U2 of this generation. Look more into Muse! You hear their stuff on radio, tv and sports a lot.
Yall need to see videos this song. Also definitely "Knights of Cydonia", "Time is Running Out", "Starlight", etc
Love MUSE! I was fortunate enough to have seen them in a small venue, front row, many years ago. Have seen them a couple times more since in stadium size venues. Amazing musicians and profound lyrics.
Hysteria has a sick bass riff
I love you two more and more each day, and I'm so glad I decided to subscribe months ago! And I LOVE my Music 🎤s Therapy tee, too! Your openness to all genres, and the bungee jumping technique you have of just diving into songs that are totally alien to you, is fantastic. I'm always gobsmacked when I see your daily selections, and how far out they are! I consider myself a pretty avid music fan, of all genres, and some of the songs you react to are new to me, and I like that we feel them out together. I realize that's all cheesy as hell, but it's true.
You reacting to Muse prompted me to comment, as I have just discovered them myself, through my boyfriend's eclectic and INCREDIBLE musical taste. I wanted to REQUEST, if you ever do another MUSE song, that you give MADNESS a try. It has been my favorite song for a couple of months now - always singing it, playing it, loving it. Trivia note - it was written by the singer for actress Kate Hudson after a horrible fight. After he wrote it, he took it to her mom, the GREAT Goldie Hawn to read the lyrics, and get her advice on how to win Kate back. None of it matters, though, because Kate ended up marrying and having kids with someone else. Poor guy. 😕
ALSO - ONE MORE RANDOM REQUEST:
H.O.T.T. by KOPPS feat. Joywave. The video is part of the appeal, but the song is great on its own.
Thanks for your videos, Brad & Lex!!! 💖
Suggestions:
Knights of Cydonia, Hysteria, New Born, Apocalypse Please
Seen them live twice. Seriously trippy concerts. Amazing shows
This is one of my top 10 songs of all time. Muse is great stuff. And I am a metal head.
My grandmother used to vibe to Muse, Tarja Turunen, and Kamelot with me. If you get a chance, I recommend checking out Kamelot, especially anything from The Black Halo.
March of Mephisto, Abandoned, The Haunting, Soul Society, Memento Mori... There's a ton of great material.
Tarja Turunen was formerly with Nightwish, but she has a catalog of Solo work too. I recommend I Walk Alone to start.
Excellent work! Looking forward to seeing more awesome sauce from you guys. ☺️
Muse rocked stages and crowds with the best of them back in the day, and with new music released, I hope they slay stages worldwide again! You really need to watch live performances to get the real feel of them, and how masterful they are on the grandest stages ever built.
It’s about an uprising…a revolution, a rebellion against greed, the fat cats…the system.
Saw them in concert when they opened for U2 and it was impressive for a 3 piece
The beginning is a rip of of the timelords doing the dr who rock n roll Gary glitter mash
I love muse! I took my boys to see them in concert when they were 10 and 12 and they loved it! Now, they are 15 and 17 and one plays bass and the other guitar. Their teacher knows how much we love muse so they learn and play these songs for me. (I think I even have them on my RUclips playing one, lol). You really should check out Knights of Cydonia. As soon as Lex said this song gallops, I realized you need to hear it. ❤️
You got to look at their early stuff like bliss, newborn, plug in baby. Hysteria also is awesome!
I would recommend Supermassive Black Hole, Knights of Cydonia or Pyramid Song for further Muse listening.
Pyramid Song is Radiohead.
This was on the radio constantly around 2010 2011. If you turned your car radio on you would have heard it. That is probably why it sounds so familiar.
One of my favourite bands. Yes Brad is right, Uprising makes you want to go on a march and demonstrate against something, 'Resistance' has a similar theme and if Lex likes the 'galloping' sound on Uprising then listen to Knights of Cydonia. So many great songs from this band it's hard to pick one out so for best air guitar and drums tracks it has to be K of C (Matt's falsetto is ridiculous) Plug in Baby and M.K Ultra (for lead guitar) Hysteria (that base!!)
Just a quick story:- My neighbours used to rent their house out to students and there was a student teaching himself Plug in Baby on his guitar for weeks, every night he got better and further along without mistakes until he'd cracked it which was joyous and I ran into the garden and cheered and jumped around like a fool which amused him no end, much to the annoyance of other neighbours encouraging him to make more 'noise' 😂
This is one of the most important protest songs of this century. it's basically about the ongoing war between the people and the shadow government. (Big tech, big pharma, big bankers etc.)
iT'S liKE wHeN YoU tRY tO cAnCEl hULu. Deep take. Totally missed the point of one of the most profound calls for revolution of our times.
Very Good!!! Muse has many different sounds. sometimes they sound like 80s rock, sometimes they sound like Beethoven, sometimes they sound like a punk, and sometimes metal and pop, they have an insane amount of diversity
I only know a few Muse songs, but the ones I do know I love. Great reaction guys 🙋🏻♀️🙌🏼👏🏼👍🏼💜🇨🇦
I love Muse, you guys have sooooo many more Muse songs to react to... for example, hysteria, starlight, time is running out, sing for absolution, etc! Great video here!
I'm a big fan of Butterflies & Hurricanes.
**Animals** is my fave song theyv ever done!!! ...their brand new single, recently released , is really good!!! The new album will be out soon too!!! ....this is 3 guys who are always way ahead of the musical curve!!!!....
Ahhh man I wish I was there for the space live stream, absolutely would have suggested starlight by these guys.
Funny that in many cases with Muse, the live versions are superior to the studio versions. Plus the audiences are massive, and the people really get into it. So try the live stuff if you listen to more Muse. Some great songs are Plug in Baby, Super Massive Black Hole, Starlight, and Knights of Cydonia
Don't forget Hysteria. One of the best bass lines ever. I can't get over they are just a 3 piece with such a big big sound.
I saw them at Red Rocks right after Black Holes and Revelations came out. It was amazing. They opened with Knights of Cydonia.
I was literally just playing/singing this in my car on the way to work like 30 minutes ago and this popped up in my recommended after you posted lol. Such a great song. I'm about to listen to this everyday on the way to work to remind myself not to let this job kill me lol...
The instrumental is very trippy and sounds like that of the twilight zone or a jazzy scene in a movie/tv show where a portal to another dimension opens up and all the baddest of bad guys start coming through. That last description kind of fits the lyrics too as if they were coming to control our world.
Finally! Best group ever
The song has been in commercials. And the song lex is thinking about is "call me" by blonde
still love this song, uprising is one of their best and still enjoy it in 2022. Love to see them live in person if could.
Muse is great great band, their live concerts are crazy good. Really revolutionary band with their own style
The more songs you guys do the more you going to find similarities between some songs. Even though they're vast possibilities, there are a finite number of notes and arrangements possible.
Wow this takes me back! Great reaction guys. 🔥🎵
Pixies-Where is my mind? Pleaseeee🙏
@02:06 "as soon as it came on it sounded instantly familiar..."
Yup, I got the Dr Who vide when I first heard this too... sitting shotgun in my mate's Vauxhal Astra MkIV Irmisham... he knew a guy that managed to get hold of the album a few weeks before and loving Muse before BH&R album, we listened to this non-stop, cruising round, when everyone else was listening to dance music, this was blasting out of the speakers... so... sooooo cool (lol)
Powerful lyrics, powerful production values. Throughout this Album.
Fun to Watch you two.
🤘😎🤘
LOL, love the idea of playing this while on hold, to pump you up for talking to Customer Service! The way Lex said that really cracked me up. Cheers, guys. :D
This is a fairly popular song. I've heard it playing in the background when I've been at restaurants that play tunes (Torchy's, BJ's, Dave and Busters, , etc).
My favorite channel on RUclips doing my best band reaction , awesome 😎
If you've ever heard Rock and Roll part 2 by Gary Glitter that may be why the song sounds familiar. They play that part of the song and almost every sporting event in the world.
Surprised that I had to scroll this far down in the comments before Gary Glitter got mentioned, when it’s the obvious influence in Muse’s glam-rock sounding “Uprising”. Hopefully Brad and Lex will give Gary Glitter a listen and put the pieces together.
@@psiclone23 yeah to me it's unmistakable
It may sound so familiar because back in 2009 it was used as the theme song for a TV show called ‘V’. The song was better than the show.
Classic stuff again. Gotta do some Foals soon. And thanks again for bringing back some great long forgotten tracks! Even if some are only a couple years old. Muse are not Foo Fighters tho. Cmon man.
Best band on the planet right now! Really looking forward to their new album
I'm with you on that one
Finally MUSE!!!! I’ve been asking for this for months! You gotta check out Madness, Stockholm Syndrome, Hysteria, and Starlight. Muse is FULL of insane instrumentals, it’s phenomenal
You have to remember that Muse were gigging around as a lesser known band when Rage Against The Machine made their huge breakthrough with their anti-establishment tracks, I think this is their version influenced by RATM......saw MUSE at Manchester University student Union in the mid 90s. So loud up close in a 300 person student venue! Can't see them ever doing a gig that small again!😂
They aren’t anti establishment. They are controlled opposition just like Rage against the machine.
I saw those guys twice. First time in FedEx field near DC, opening for U2. Second time in Madison Square Garden, with the Silversun Pickups. Great live show!
Big muse fan I know people are going to suggest Knights of Cydonia but I would check out Plug in Baby, Hysteria, Uno, Starlight, And time is running out! To name a few also you can listen to their live performances it's just as good as their studio work.
This song actually samples the Doctor Who opening themes from '63 as well as the rerecorded '07 version
Lex, that part you're talking about is sampled from Blondie's song "Call Me".
The melody is 'borrowed' or rather 'inspired' by the Dr. Who theme. Even more so by the Dr. Who tribute 'Doctorin' the Tardis' by The Timelords (AKA The KLF). :)
ESPN likes to use Muse in promos, so you probably heard it there. The "we will be victorious" part plays well for sports.
Heard it on tha radio & instantly loved it! Power to tha people!
I felt the same about this track as you Brad the first time I heard it. It reminds me of the old school Dr Who music but that is way before your time.
The Doctor sent me here :)
These guys are so underrated. One of the best live shows I've ever seen.
You should really check out their live versions in concert they put on a hell of a show and their sets are unreal
Butterflies and Hurricanes is my favorite Muse song. Worth a listen.
Yes, Muse is one of my favourite bands.
One of the best live shows I have ever attended and I am 71 and have seen plenty.
I need to listen to more Muse because I love this song!
I think what they are thinking of when they said it sounds familiar is that this song is heavily influenced by Blondie Call me (come on), and has a marlylin manson vibe too it as well
Their song "Thought Conyagion" is another worth checking out.
And the name of the album is resistance :) close to resilience haha
They put on one hell of a concert too.
This was the theme song for our Tea Party rallies in 2009.
This was used in Pitch Perfect 2 by Das Sound Machine. 😎
You've probably heard this song played over or in the background of something on TV at some point without even knowing it. And that's why it's familiar to you.
Next reaction:
⭐Supremacy by Muse⭐
I wonder if they knew that 13 years in the future this song would still be painfully relevant
Oooooh yes muuuuse 👌
"Starlight"
Great song. Muse is one of those bands that I don't know many of their songs by name, but I've heard a bunch and enjoy them all.
Something sounds familiar, Brad, you've said before you were a Guitar Hero guy, this band did Nights of Cydonia on Guitar Hero 3.
I always thought the "so come on" riff was a direct lift/sample from Blondie's "call me!" but I could be wrong.
Muse have captured a lot of Peoples imaginations over the years, with their ferocious live, multimedia extravaganzas.
Next Muse song needs to be 'Knights of Cydonia (Live at Rome Olympic Stadium)'
The familiar feel to this song is the off-beat syncopation. This syncopation is in many other famous songs.
Replace the “come on” with “call me”. It’s the same key as that Blondie song so that’s probably what you’re thinking of. Great song either way
One of my top 5 bands ever, so unique and talented
The beginning of this song always gave me "Dr. Who" vibes.
Muse is brilliant.....
I have been listening to them since bliss was released.....
So talented.....
Awesome pop/rock....
And Matt's vocals..... 👍👍
Yes! Please do more Muse songs! They are fantastic.
They toured with Foo Fighters when Muse was starting out. You should check out Royal Blood and also The Struts.
The “so come on” part is inspired by “call me” from Blondie. That’s probably why that part sounds so familiar to you.
Song was used in outros for ABC Saturday Night College Football for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Anytime someone says it's familiar was cause the Mickey Mouse channel plastered it with cfb
