Hi Jeremy, I've been looking for the TAB for this tune and your version is spot on. I'm new to the slide guitar. Is most of what you play using the slide with some notes played with fingers on the fret board? In the video it looks like your index finger is involved in playing the tune. Thank you in advance and keep up the good work.
Hi, it's mostly with the slide yeah. There's some fingers used in some of the turn around but not too much is fretted. Perhaps you noticed how I often follow the string being played with my index finger behind the slide. Playing slide on acoustic you kind of need this to damper the sympathetic vibrations and I have a habit of doing this - even though it's not so much of a problem on the electric. I'm not actually fretting behind the slide just touching the string to stop vibration. Is that what you're seeing?
Hi 👋- yes, that was the origin effects revival Trem (version 1). I sold that off last year but will probably buy another. I didn’t like how you could only use the Trem after first activating the ‘amp’ side which cut a lot of bass - but in reality it’s a terrific unit
Jus Frickin Beautiful!!! i love it!! Now..... jus one question.. i have a katana 50 amp.. i have so many specs and settings on it.. i cannot find the proper one to sound like your guitar.. tell me how the heck you get the strings to sound (especially the high E or D in this case... to sound like that?) i am lost Brother.. totally lost.. but blown away on the video!!! thank you sir!!
Hi Tony, what guitar are you using? For the katana, a fender-like setting should get you close if you have a guitar with single coils. Also what gauge strings are you using - it’s a bit hard to play this track without 11s or even 12s.
@@JeremyJames_studio i have an ole jackson and unfortunately, they are double coils, as for gauge - i dont recall as it has been sometime since i changed them.. so you are recommending 11's or 12's? ... if you tell me exactly what equipment you use (pedal, settings, amp, etc..) i will go out and find the gear.. i gotta play this exactly like you do.. thank you Mr. James.. ;)
Depending on your budget - I'd recommend something affordable like a squire tele to get you going. Does the job for sure! Go for at least 11s on it but if you're willing to say goodbye to bending strings for awhile, then the wound g on 12s is super for slide. The elixir electric 12s are great and the plastic coating helps with string noise. Not sure if your amp has effects or not but you'll need a tremolo pedal. Go for a bias style tremolo, something like the boss tr-2 is solid but there's cheaper and more expensive options. Let me know how you get on Tony!
@@JeremyJames_studio well.. i know i can get the equipment.. i hope i can capture that sound you have on your guitar/video.. it is fricking Beautiful to get that sound..
@@tonystevenson7967 It's a good set up for sure, but with the tech these days it's hard not to get a good sound. For example I uploaded a new video a week or so ago (Dark end of the street) and planned to use my amp but in the end I just put the strat through my HX stomp. So no amp and just the stomp via USB into my computer. So easy. You can be the judge on whether it came out OK(!?) - but I think it sounded pretty good.
Hi Jeremy I just watched “Crossroads” for the first time last night and came across your excellent tutorial this morning. I’d like to respectfully request a PDF of the tab, if you don’t mind. Thanks for this.
@@JeremyJames_studio It was a treat. I had been wanting to for a long time and finally got around to it. A very good and under rated film. Thank you in advance for the tab.
Great lesson, and a great performance of the Feelin' Bad Blues. You are a great slide player, and nailed it well. I'm especially amazed by the sound you managed to produce. Very well done. I don't think (if I hear it correctly) you are using an echo or delay? But instead, besides the tremolo you are using the reverb of the princeton amp at atleast 12 o'clock? But my big question is: what kind of strings and which gauge did you use to complete your amazing slide sound? Are those 0.11's or 0.12s? And what branch/types? If 0.11s did you raise your action a little? What a lot of questions. Sorry for your time, but you really got me interested in your playing and sound ;) .
Yes you’re right no delays here. Just reverb from the princeton, probably about 3.5 from memory - with some extra verb via logic x in the that middle part. I was using 11s for this, eilxirs. Though if I had another crack at it, I’d go for 12s. That wound g really makes a big difference. I used 12s on my strat on my most recent upload (Dark end of the street, if you want to compare) and found slide easier with them. Bending is another story though!! Oh and yes, when you put a heavier gauge on your action will naturally come up a touch.
@@JeremyJames_studio I think the 11s are essential for the sound achieved. The thicker the strings the more mellow and less loneliness the sound. It made you sound really perfect for this song. I use 13s myself and that sounds much fuller and rounder, and not suitable for this song. Did you raise the strings slightly when using 11s or do you have a very sensitive use of the slide? When I use 11s myself with normal string action I sometimes tend to lift the slide slightly (to avoid fretting) and that sometimes comes at the expense of sustain. I think your playing technique is excellent. Would you also like to send me the tabs: seasite1@hotmail.com? I would really appreciate that. BTW, you are from New Zealand (someone mentioned the term Kiwi somewhere)?
@@SlidingAway Hi Johan - even though I used 11s, 12s would be even better I think. That wound third really helps. I'll try it again one day with heavier strings (and more practice!) I did bring the action up a touch on the guitar, but it was still fairly playable without slide. And yes, from New Zealand originally but in HK at the moment. Will email you the TAB now. Cheers
Hola! I used the Princeton reissue on about volume 4.5. Only pedal was the origin effects revival Trem (which is now named something else) which changed the sound a little and added the tremolo. If you use flat wound strings you’ll get closer to the sound than I did here using round wounds. 🙏
Hi Dave, just playing the k-line through a revival trem into a princeton reverb. could have used the princeton’s reverb but thought I better use the pedal seeing as I just bought it! Actually added a little compression which always makes slide a touch easier. No problems with the TAB. Drop your email here and I’ll send through to you. I will post a link to it, if you’d rather wait. Cheers

Nice.
Hi Jeremy
I just watched “Crossroads” for the first time last night and came across your excellent tutorial this morning. I’d like to respectfully request a PDF of the tab, if you don’t mind.
Thanks for this.
First time watching crossroads....ahhh what a treat! Drop your email below and I'll send the TAB through.
@@JeremyJames_studio It was a treat. I had been wanting to for a long time and finally got around to it. A very good and under rated film.
Thank you in advance for the tab.
@@JeremyJames_studio me too please chrisdavies@hotmail.com
Cheers
Hi Jeremy could you send me the tabs for feeling bad blues would be appreciated thank you.Keep up your great work.
Sure, where should I send it?
Fantastico
Hola, puedes ,decirme la colocación de los potenciómetro en el amplificador y los efectos gracias
Hola! I used the Princeton reissue on about volume 4.5. Only pedal was the origin effects revival Trem (which is now named something else) which changed the sound a little and added the tremolo.
If you use flat wound strings you’ll get closer to the sound than I did here using round wounds. 🙏
Gracias 🙂
Hey ...its very cool....Have
Drop me an email here and I'll send it to you Stefan.
Would love to hear you cover the film southern comfort theme tune by ry cooder
Lee I’m literally working on it right now! Tried to photograph the TAB on my computer but can’t figure out how to put the pic in this comment! 😅
Cant wait for that one. 👍
@@leelewis6674 Sure thing, I'll give it my best shot!

I cannot buy you a cop of coffee I have no Visa 😞 Thanks for the Tabs and lessons
That’s absolutely fine, no worries at all - more lessons and tabs on the way as well 🙏
I play this "kinda" would love the tab...
Sure Mark, just drop an email address and I'll send it through
@@JeremyJames_studio thanks much. mrkgarren@gmail.com
you have opened this right up for me. fantastic lesson. can I ask what rig, pedals etc. you are using? also would like the tab please?
Hi Dave, just playing the k-line through a revival trem into a princeton reverb. could have used the princeton’s reverb but thought I better use the pedal seeing as I just bought it! Actually added a little compression which always makes slide a touch easier. No problems with the TAB. Drop your email here and I’ll send through to you. I will post a link to it, if you’d rather wait. Cheers
@@JeremyJames_studio thanks Jeremy

Is cool👍👍
what does the 1/2 with the arrow sign mean
That’s a bend (or slide) up a half step, or single fret….
hi is there a pdf version of the tab available? im trying to learn this but having it separated into sections is actually kind of hard to follow for me
Yes, I put into a PDF, drop your email below and I'll send you a copy.
much appreciated Jeremy, great work!
👌
What is the effect used
Just some tremolo (bias) from the origin effects revival trem. but any old slow bias tremolo would be fine.
Thank you so much. Great sound . You nailed it.
Are you playing that open A ( 2nd string ) in the intro 🤔
Yes, it’s the last note....doubling the octave from the A on the 5th string. Sorry I should have made that clearer....
Thanks for the reply Jeremy. Just checking ..I think you’re an excellent Instructor!
The tuning on the tab has the F# and the D inverted. It should be D A D F# A D.
Thanks but I'm not sure what you mean. Just checked the TAB, it's open D. No problems.
Maybe you were watching the video upside down somehow?!
@@JeremyJames_studio it's confirmed, I'm a dumbass. Sorry.
Haha, no worries. Thought youtube might be scrambling my content for a moment there!
666 likes right now.. sit at that crossroads brother
Where's the 'immediately stop further likes' button! 😂 Cheers Dank
E Standard Tunning ??
Actually no, it's in open D. I play through the tuning near the start....
what trem are you using?
It was the revival Trem by origin effects but any slow bias (not opto) Trem would be fine 👌
Anyway you can send me the tabs for this?
Can do, I'm still organising a website so you'll have to pass through your email, or wait for a bit
@@JeremyJames_studio stephanridderhof@gmail.com will be appreciated, been looking for the movie version tab for a while

@@andrewryan9212 No worries Andrew - emailed you.
I love it by the way I am kitty
Hi Kitty!! Great comment, hey I saw your Marilyn Munroe short- fantastic!
@@JeremyJames_studio thanks 🙏👍
It's a shame you're covering the F# A and D strings with your right hand !!
Ahh yes, well that's a tricky one to avoid. If it helps at all, thumb is on 4th string, 1st finger on the 3rd, 2nd finger is on the 2nd string and ring finger is on the 1st string most of the time...
@@JeremyJames_studio Thanks for the information. Would it be possible to send me the TAB please? I think it would help me a lot!
