@@Elena-er7zp, I do agree with you. Of course there is a tremendous amount of pressure and competition, the root of it is aging. Even beautiful women start noticing sagging, sinking, or wrinkling. So in order to try to preserve the youthfulness, we get procedures done.

That's because it looks like her face swallowed Selena Gomez's face. And she's having trouble widening her eyes cause her brows and forehead are completely frozen. Now I understand why she's been hiding from the public since she got with Ryan, she ruined her face with too much fillers and botox.

Poorly done plastic surgery (as compared to well done plastic surgery) can fall into the 'uncanny valley'. The 'uncanny valley' is a where a computer-generated figure or humanoid robot bearing a near-identical resemblance to a human being arouses a sense of unease or revulsion in the person viewing it. There's been a ton of money poured into research on this recently because tech companies want to make the most user liked AI. The biological reason for this is human brains are highly sensitive to how other human's faces 'should' display emotions and expression, because even extremely subtle ways an expression is 'off' spells danger to the lizard parts of our brain (that person is tricking you, run). Back in caveman days, we learned to be very good at reading micro expressions to determine if another human was a real friend or foe (same reason some people get the 'ick' around psychopaths). This response is largely unconscious and hard to articulate because it's one of our most primitive responses, ironically in the same way finding a face 'beautiful' is hard to articulate.
The problem is the difference between 'well done, you look great!' and 'uncanny valley, you make my reptile brain uneasy' is such a THIN THIN line, it's so easy to 'mess up' and then women get severely punished. I have so much empathy for women (and sometimes men) who walk that line, fall into the uncanny valley, and then have to deal with how their face makes people uneasy. So saying, for me personally, Eva's face in the interview had the 'uncanny valley' problem for me and my lizard brain is soothed by hearing Lorry explain what could have set it off in this instance. Thank you 🙂
Yes I agree with this. I've watched a few videos where the uncanny valley effect is discussed.
Actually in the film "A.I." actor Haley Joel Osment really nails some of these expressions and behaviours which have that uncanny effect. The film makeup artists also designed makeup that would add a "fake" feel.
However, I have also seen and read some other stuff which talks about how humans are in fact terrible at gauging things like character, and whether a person is lying or being deceptive, based on just looking at them or interacting with them.
Remember that someone like Ted Bundy was quite well liked and well regarded by many. And he could be very persuasive.
And this is why botox and face lifts are a bad idea, because they diminish or remove the person's ability to make these vital micro-expressions in their interactions with others and, thus, have a negative impact on the quality of those interactions. Facial muscles are supposed to *move* . Nature has always intended for the face to be an instrument of self-expression.
@@ciarakristos111 botox is only "uncanny" if too much is used. It can be done subtly and a lot of people do get it done in a way where most people do not notice. Face lifts actually offers the most natural look of cosmetic surgeries/procedures. It doesnt puff up or distort the face. Its when you get into the realm of buccal fat removal, cheek implants, freezing the whole face with botox, overfilling the lips and face that you start to look weird.
She should have gone to Demi Moore’s plastic surgeon

Yes, love these quickie real-time reactions Lorry (as an aside, there is a lot you can discern from seeing a face in motion that you can’t see into pictures! Many people augment their features such as to look beautiful at rest, but as soon as they’re talking or smiling you can see there is a little something uncanny going on)! Keep these coming though, je l’adore!!

Her eyes and mid face look completely different. I’ve always thought she was extremely gorgeous. In "We Own the Night” I just loved her so much.
Watching these videos has taught me what operations I may or may not dabble in. I believe changing the eyes will really make someone unrecognizable. Cheek Fillers aren’t doing what people thought they would so that’s out, too.
A neck lift and Botox, might be the extent of what I’d do. No wrinkles or fine lines whatsoever on the face is unrealistic. We should get out of this mindset.
Her eyes now remind me those of Melania Trump. Cheek fillers make them narrower and give the face somewhat more masculine look.

Lorry- do you think her speech may be off because of improperly sized veneers? By chance I recently watched Eva in a movie she probably made 20+ years ago called Out of Time. She had such naturally full, beautiful lips. It's crazy that she touched them. Even with some age related volume loss, they still would have been very full. Have a look at some clips from that movie. She has always been insanely gorgeous. Plus her nose was one of her best features. This somehow makes me sad. She seems like a lovely person.

One thing that wasn't mentioned was the angle Eva is posed in. She has this very odd face tilt. The woman interviewing her has a normal 3rd person view. Even in the clip around the past year she has that tilt going on. Its quite odd and adding to a more "uncanny" and/or "something's wrong" alarm going off for me.

What bothers me the most, in my opinion, is how full her cheeks are. I know nothing about plastic surgery of course, but that video it does looks like she has overdone it. That's so interesting that people have brought up Ryan's work as well, because I kept wondering why he looked so different. It never dawned on me that it was possibly due to plastic surgery, and it all makes sense now. I really just thought it was because he was aging. We often forget that men also get work done. I think many try to do it in the most subtle way possible, but on Ryan you could definitely tell, just like his Wife. Truly fascinating to learn.

It's kind of weird we're asking someone to tell us what someone else has done to their face. Umm, we can see with our own eyes what people do. There's only so much you can do; botox, fillers, implants, lifts and nose jobs. She's done one or all of those things at any given time in her life.
But she didnt need to have anything done. She was naturally pretty. I could understand if she was starting to show signs of aging and felt insecure but that wasn't the case. I guess to each his own but it sucks that she touched her face and it's obvious and not in a good way
