    Out of all the videos for valvetonic/servo motor on E 70 with the N 55 I would say this is top three and you replaced the eccentric/intermediate shaft, bearings and all seals great video brother

      When I was ordering my parts it was recommended to be replace, so I got it.

    Did you check the compression when those parts were failed? Just wondering if eccentric shaft / valvetronic can affect no compression problem.

      I have similar situation. N55 Crank bur won't start.. it turns out no compression on all 6cylinders.. just wondering if eccentric shaft/valvetronic contribute those failures... I'm guessing either valvetronic/eccentric failure or jumped timing.....what's your thoughts?

      @@robinkim7711 I DONT think it should affect the bottom end, are you sure 0 compression on all cylinders?

      @Jbonly21 yes I checked them... it's not totally 0 but it's super low.. all 6.. I did borescoped wall, valves looks fine to me...have you seen&heard like this issue?

    Hi thanks for sharing! I have e90 and I'm getting 2a3f dme valvetronic actuator power supply & 2A38 valvetronic monitoring sluggish movement. I just tryin to decide if i can just do the needle bearings or if i need a new eccentric shaft.. already got DME fixed, but scared to burn up pin again if ecc shaft doesn't move enough. Was ISTA free?? Suggestions welcome. Can't find much info on E90 eccentric shaft, it is a little different, but also the same. Thanks

      If you have a N54 or N55 it’s about the same, my bearings wasn’t that bad. I might be able to get away with replacing just the motor. You should remove the valve cover and check visually the condition of the cams and shaft. Also depends on your mileage.

    Do you think I might have a similar issue? Car ran fine, one day didnt start, just cranks but I have ZERO codes in ISTA. I checked the pumps, plugs, etc.

      If you have ISTA try to do a Valvetronic relearn, if that doesn’t work then most likely yes.

      Bonjour, no, the Valvetronic motor went bad and shot the DME.

      @@tonymisiano4133 first you have to check the connector at the Valvetronic motor and make sure you are getting power, if you are not, check the wire harness and make sure it’s good, if it’s good, then there’s two squares plugs on the DME, one supplier power in from the batteries through the integrated supply module located in the engine bay. If you are getting power going in to the DME and no power coming out, then your DME is bad.

    How did you know or make the decision that your dme was fried or faulty? I have same issues mine stars fine then after 15 seconds starts to miss firing.... Checked plugs.. Coils.. All fine... Change shaft motor still does the ratcheting noise when getting close to the car.. Thank you and great job..

      Thanks, I had to test all of my modules in the starter circuit, in the end I found out I had power coming in to the DME, but no power from the DME to the shaft motor. Bmw drop the ball by not putting protection between the DME and the shaft motor, so if the shaft motor goes bad, it back feed directly back to the DME.

    Just a little info from my experience. If you here the clicking when you unlock your car, you will need to change the shaft. That sound is the motor trying to rotate the shaft but running into resistance. This may be because of the needle bearings, or the gears that interact with the motors gears.

      not sure if it is just me but I actually got away with just replacing the servomotor and the problem went away.

    Do you need to leave it at maximum lift when you put it back together?

      When you install the shaft, not really. You need to have it in a position where it has no tension. You can rotate it after its installed.

      It all depends on if you installed the motor properly. Because after you put it back together just with the key on you will hear it self learning and the car should start.

Please I would also like to ask, so if the motor can relearn itself after installation and the key is turned on, do we still need to calibrate the Valvetronic motor again or provided the engine is running, everything should be Ok ? thanks for your feedback in advance@@Jbpgarage

      No start, my Valvetronic motor was bad, based on the research I did, it’s recommended to replace the shaft as well. With a job that big there’s no way to know what parts you really need with out tearing it down and doing an inspection. I am not a fan of taking a car apart and then waiting on parts. So I just bought everything that was recommended.

    Hey what up buddy I have a 2015 bmw n20 engine and I replace 4 injector now the car don’t want to start I check spark fuel ok but don’t have compression it only at 90 psi 1-3-4 and 2cyl 119 psi any tips no code

      The car should start even with low compression. Did you program the injectors after installation? They have to be calibrated.

    where did u get ur dme from? plus what else did u have to do after installing dme? I just replace servomotor and I keep getting a error code when I try to relearn process

      I bought a used DME from the same year and model as mine and had it cloned by RPM MOTORSPORT.

      I believe they have different locations, but I was told the cloning was done in Canada. It run me close to $500, had to ship my original DME and the used one. Didn’t need any program when I got it back.

    Great video. Now I know what to expect. Was ur eccentric shaft bad too? Dealer is changing my valvetronic motor $3400. They that if eccentric shaft is needed it’ll be a total of $5200. What would a bad eccentric shaft look like? Why would it go bad.

    Man I have a n55, and the first diagnosis said code is Valvetronic disabled. So firstly, what if you replace only the servomotor and then try the relearn test plan but fails. 2 weeks later.. the car does not crank or start. The diagnosis showed second time said starter is dead and servomotor is too. Will it be okay to replace only servomotor the second time?

      Yeah, shouldn’t be a problem replacing just the servomotor if that’s what the problem is. If you replace it with a OEM part, I would just go back in and recheck everything. Make sure you have the car on a charger when running the relearn, also you have to be connected to the internet for it to work.

Or Will it be safe that I could drive 70miles to the dealer for the ista+ I don’t why first time did not work I wait like 11 days to do relearn and it failed.. faulty servomotor? The only code I have is 2EOF disabled vvt.

      @@lxizzHD Did you set the Valvetronic at maximum lift during installation? After installation make sure you have it at maximum lift, the car should be able to run without the system, then when you do the relearning the DME will make the adjustment.

    I have a N55 535i . When I unlock the car, I hear a rattle/wrenching sound coming from the engine. Only happens when I unlock the car. Battery was low in the winter, but now I dont have battery low warning. Car starts right up. Any ideas what needs to be done?

      That’s probably your Valvetronic motor coming on, it probably needs to be reset.

      I’m having the same issue. Bmw dealer said my valve is bad. They ran a diagnostic first. Was showing low voltage but they found my batter was original to the car 2014. They changed the battery programmed it to the car and updated my software but it didn’t fix the valvetronic noice. Parts and labor $3500. $5200 if they see the eccentric shaft bad. I’m pissed off.

    We bought a used 2013 X5 V6 with a bad engine. We bought & installed a used engine, crank but no start, couldn't figure out why. We brought it to bmw dealership, they charged $150 diagnosis & got it start. They said power supply connector for DME is unplugged & many other connectors loose. We didn't think anything was loose. Anyway we agreed to pay $370 more for further diagnosis. They said valvetronic motor, fuel rail pressure sensor, oil pressure sensor, intake air pressure sensor are all bad. We still wonder how they got it start in the first place.

      They probably reset the Valvetronic motor and that’s how they get it started. It was probably stuck, cause it fails slowly over time.

      @@mblydenvlogs check the Valvetronic motor connector, if I remember correctly there’s 3 pins, one is power, ground and signal. With key on check and see if you are getting 12 volts.

      P10E5 Code - Internal Control Module Error Control Circuit Valvetronic--P10F5 BMW Code - Valvetronic Control Phase V Circuit Open Bank 1--P240B Code - Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Heater Control Circuit Low--P2419 OBD-II:
      Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit Low. A quick google search will give you many probable or known causes for each code. Hope this helps and good luck.

    You were supposed to take the springs off and clean them and replace the bolts on top
