The Romans were over the top brutal. I read Foxe's book of Martyrs & I just could'nt believe the level of cruelty during the persecutions from 60AD to like 280AD. "the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church"
Alice White While what you said was not completely incorrect, the quote by Tertullian goes “The blood of the martyrs IS the seed of the church.” Present tense. That is as true today as it ever was. Satan thought he was thwarting God when he aided in Jesus death. He was actually helping to fulfill God’s purpose in salvation. Conversely, persecution only serves to strengthen the church. God is omnipotent, while satan is ultimately powerless.

Yeah & Foxe's Book of Martyrs is a free download. It made me cry the first time I read about the Roman persecutions of the Church 😢 unimaginable cruelty & brutality 😱

"5 sons" = Spiritual Conscience and all five senses firing with hearing ears and seeing (i's) eyes etc....on the Spiritual interpretation. One of the biggest reasons why "the church" is asleep or in bed with strangers , again (metaphorically), Spiritually speaking.

I believe the reference is to the Roman General Pompey, who was responsible for expanding the Roman Empire at the time.

The irony being that the Reformation kept the tradition of Rome in Sun-day worship; and, that they cling to the Greek name for Messiah (Jesus) rather than his Hebrew given name : Yeshua.
Born of the House of David (Judah), following the Maccabean rebellion, no Jew would have given his son a Greek name.
If the apostles themselves used the Greek name "Iessous" in the new Testament why should we specifically say "yeshua"?
I understand what you are saying but the name of Jesus is still powerful in any language, demons are cast out and people are still delivered through the name of Jesus and Yeshua, i use both names because just like the blood, it never loses its power!
Jesus is the Aramaic form for Joshua... That why some of the High Priests are named Jesus/ Joshua... The descendants of the Maccabees (the Hasmonean Dynasty), used Greek names such as Hyrcanus, Alexander, and Antigonus. It was the Hasmonean kings that actually Hellenized Judea.
Wonderful counselor, Prince of Peace, Father, LORD, Saviour, The WORD, The Mighty One of Israel, The Alpha and Omega, Emmanuel.....these are some other names that he may go by also.
In Slavic languages the word for sun-day is Воскресение, Resurrection; check-mate! Imagine telling a Slavic speaker he should change his day of worship from Resurrection to Sabbath.
The Maccabees were a Roman faction of Jews during the Roman Seleucid wars and Hanukah is a Roman story invented by the Romans
