As a long time wrestler, the “fire wood” position is not advised, the two under holds leaves an opening for any explosive high level wrestler to explode out. It’s suggested you do an overhook on the ankle end and an underhook on the knee end.
I'm an ex MMA fighter. I never wrestled in school but had excellent wrestling. It didn't take me long to figure that the single leg was the easiest way for me to take someone down. You might eat a couple off balance strikes, but once you have the guys leg you have endless options and counters to his counters. Im a small guy and had a few big guys throwing hard punches at me in self defence/street fight situations. They had a punchers chance, so all three times I took them down with single leg trip take downs and then dominated safely from the top position.
Pass the leg from right hand over hook to left under hook. Hold opposite hip lay down extend right leg across both legs and lift and pull hip as you lay down
This is awesome, I would love to see another video working finishes from double unders, or double finishes from a penetration step. I love watching rapid fire techniques, theirs lots of content for BJJ but not so much for wrestling.
Hey Luke, I would say some positions are better for bjj or MMA than others. The outside Rambo and firewood for example allow us to land in side control, while in the context of wrestling, inside positions allow us to fall into pinning combinations. I'll look into doing a few other videos! Thank you for your feedback!
Sorry if you interpreted that as criticism, I meant to say that their is a lot of content on RUclips with multiple BJJ techniques in a short time, but yours is on the of the first videos I've seen that gives a multitude of wrestling techniques in a short time, which is really good! Thank you!
Hey, all good man! I thought in your last sentence you were addressing the video specifically. Let me see if I can cook something up for Double Legs at some point!
Hey John, sure man! 1) Keep the position active, weight the back foot by driving through at a roughly 45 degree angle (they should be facing away from you). Then they can't square up with you so well. 2) to prevent the whizzer or the near side stiff arm, I like to put my forehead right in the armpit. 3) If the back foot is weighted, shelf and elevate the foot and get to a Rambo!
I modified the Rambo grip to avoid the limp leg escape. Once I have the leg locked up under the armpit I reach through and grab my other forearm in a rear naked choke grip and use the other hand to push the leg and it helps keep the knee facing the ceiling.
@@ramareddy I reach through with the arm that has the foot trapped and hold the far side forearm to frame in rnc style. I didn't notice it in every set up from Rambo but it's on the far side so hard to see. Thanks again for the great video
Hey, you'll want to look for "BJJ Deep Half Guard" for the most basic version. This is a standing version (which some BJJ guys also hit). Let me know if that helps.
I realise that guys with a good balance and defense the straight put the feed outside number 6 is there fore pretty good but it needs against a good guy a little adapting.
Hey man, I learned it from a Sambo school. I had not seen it before and haven't seen it since. Keep digging around and let me know if you find something!
@@ramareddy , OKAY THANX! I SAW A MODIFIED VERSION OF IT IN THE MOVIE "BEST OF THE BEST" WHEN THE CHARACTERS TOMMY AND TRAVIS WAS SPARRING IN THE RING. AN TRAVIS TRIED TO KICK TOMMY IN THE FACE WHEN HE WASNT LOOKING, BUT TOMMY DID MOVE NUMBER 17 WHILE DOING A SPLIT IN BETWEEN TRAVIS' LEGS! I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT ART THAT MOVE CAME FROM FOR A WHILE, AND SEARCHING, I SAW YOUR VIDEO. IT WAS THE CLOSEST DEMO I COULD FIND OF IT. THANX AGAIN!
Yea I am here because yesterday I was training with a brown belt that is much taller and heavier than me and when I couldn't take him down. His legs where just too far for me to reach and the snap down wasn't working.
@@aldogjonaj6059 A conundrum with many techniques is the decision making process. Generally, the higher you're able to elevate the leg and the more around the ankle or foot you are able to control, the less remaining flexibility is available in the hips and energy is transferred more efficiently into your partner. You'll see the "Knee Lever", for example, requires very little energy to complete. The repeated Kuzushi to get to the "Rambo" positions is, of course, where the practice and repetition become paramount. The Outside Single Series is another that controls at the "top of the lever" (foot/ankle), and despite being on the knees, it is highly efficient and one of the most popular finishes in wrestling. Hope that helps!
@@guilhermemrdeath If the Snap-down wasn't working, I presume he was in an upright stance? That should be prime time for a shot as they step forward. Could you clarify?
Hey Joseph, we had shot a few Run the Pipe finishes, and kept falling out of frame, and didn't know until after the shoot. Definitely something for next time! Thanks!
Rama Reddy hey if you just grab the leg good head good hand position the sit take on back step and “hike” the foot ball or the leg you should stay in frame and it should like cleann
Now 25 single leg set ups :D
This would be interred to see

Appreciate your input! I will admit that Fire Wood feels outdated or niche now

Excellent video. Some of these are obviously for some sports more than others, but still good stuff.
Thank you :)
Learned one of these in some reel but didnt know what to call it. What a pleasant surprise it is to find out its called a "Yoink".
Naming conventions are funny things; "Yoink" was always catchy with our group :)

Yeah, I agree. My head positioning should be at the armpit.
Run the pipe, make opponent step, outside step, crotchlock, lift
The shin block position is the hardest to finish
true that, they're basically halfway out. Focus on clearing the knee and elevating!

Just realized for #15 you meant outside hand secures seatbelt not inside correct?
When I say "inside" I mean, the hand closer to the opponent's centerline, but yeah, can feel ambiguous in this case. Thanks for noticing!

Cool technique 👏👏👏
Thank you :) Stay safe!
Does anyone have more sources on the backdoor from shin block finish? Can’t find it elsewhere.
Hey, we had based the name on a Deep Half Guard sweep in BJJ, and just made it standing. Hope that helps!

Watch out that forward trip in practice. Good way to really blow out someone's knee
Not really :) Quite common in wrestling
cowboy double is the best against people who sprawl
