This is the performance that changed me from a Daughtry fan to an inixplicable(sp) Taylor obsession. The vulnerably in his entire performance, esp. his eyes, and his voice and his very unique stage presence. One of my favorite songs, expected him to destroy it, but incredibly he made it even better.

This reminds me how Joe Cocker interpreted Beatles songs. They both add a little bit of grit, a little bit of soul into the Beatles catalog. I absolutely love Taylor's version of this classic.

I loved the look Taylor gave the judges after the performance! He knew he was winning. After the contrast between Funky White Boy, and tenderness of Something. Such a contrast. So glad he won and kept us happy for the past seven years. Those who kept following him.

Katharine Mcphee did this song wonderfully. Taylor Hicks also did it wonderfully. There is no reason to put one person down. It's like comparing apples and oranges. They each did it in their own style and each style sounded great.

Just came back to watch this after a long time. Still great! As for Kat.......I just watched her with Andrea Bocelli in a performance done in May, and she is still timid on stage. Pretty voice, beautiful girl........ just nothing that sets her apart. She was upstaged by a great new voice.......Charice!

Yes, that's true, Simon had many nice things to say...more and more as the season moved along.
Why then, after Taylor won, did Simon say he never liked him, that he never "got it"...and (this was the worst) why did he tell a gum chewing season six auditioner to dispose of her gum by putting it on Taylor's photo? Why the negativity and nastiness after so many complimentary words recognizing Taylor's abilities? Any ideas?

l really don't think Simon is the expert on music. l want to know what music education he has. l wonder if he even plays an instrument. American idol finally got a person qualified to judge which is Lionel Richie. Lionel Richie is legendary.

Kat has a great voice, but I don't think she wanted to win. Her parents did. She didn't make all of the tour, and her album wasn't her at all. She seems like she is more interested in acting. Taylor picked up the slack on the tour and has not stopped singing since. He works hard.

He's a bitter old codger who's obsessed with Daughtry and whose words too many people take as testament. It's sad really, Christine. His attitude about him (as well as the show kissing up to the guest celeb of the week instead of letting us get to know the contestants) really ruined season 6. Don't forget him saying Sundance would "upstage" Taylor and Randy agreeing. We showed him. He didn't even make top 12!
