Diverting M90 traffic via the Forth Road Bridge

  • To allow the Forth Road Bridge to be used as a diversion route for M90 traffic, emergency crossovers need to be opened to link it to the motorway on either side.
    This video explains what's involved and when such a diversion might be implemented.

    They should've made a junction like a road that takes you to the M6 Toll and M6.

      There's really no reason for that as the Queensferry Crossing is designed to never have to be shut due to wind...ice has however shut it down once. The Forth Road bridge has experienced considerably more traffic than it was designed for and damage was found on it in 2015 causing it to close, that is why only buses and non-motorway traffic are allowed to use it these days.
