      I think it’s often a case of the product managers relying on flawed data - they are being told „everyone wants a boot channel“, for example, even though it’s a minority asking for it. Squeaky wheel gets the oil, the rest suffers in quiet.

    I bought a Bauer MACH set. MACH is very different from Lefevre, Warrior or most gear on the market. Here is my review of the stock retail Bauer Mach on ice, vs Ultrasonic and more. New videos every Monday!

  • @thebignewfie

    LOL love the Ridge wallet just getting slide in there! But yeah Bauer retail is completely different vs Bauer pro. My stuff is from Bauer pro, and using Bauer 2X strapping, I can't find anyone using the new strapping or even Ultrasonic strapping. 2X strapping and seems like everyone is using a sewn in professor strap. Makes sense, which pro is going to want super tight pads with the big knee protection they are using. It's like Bauer gloves, they have so many for the pros, everyone has their own type but only two are available retail. My mods from the Bauer Pro line only are;
    2S Core
    Stabilieslide with pro bump obviously since that's standard for them
    2X Strapping
    Sewn in Professor Strap
    NHL legal pillow under my calf
    I could never order a retail pro or pro custom pad from Bauer. They are going too tight right now, I love the 2X strapping.

    Anyone else using skate lace with a gap? Cause I’ve tried pro laces armour and the issue is the rvh responsiveness, you get no power, seriously, there’s a reason pretty much all nhl goalies use skate lace with a gap, it’s the way to go if you are serious about performing your best. Plus, laces are 5$ instead of 50

    • @trav4oilers

      Thats the problem man, trav spec pro laces I promise are the best money can buy. The length is the key. If you buy a set and dont love them I'll refund you myself. Hope that helps. Lot of NHL guys are using pro laces and I got 20% of SHL goalies into Trav Spec pro laces last year

    I’ve been using my pro laces for about 20 skates now and I’m loving them. I originally ordered TravSpec2 but found the cowling on my Bauer S190 skates didn’t have the necessary holes to strap the pro laces properly. Ended up returning them for the shorter version and have nothing but positive reviews.

    You're wondering about a 580 Bauer glove in your video. The closest thing to a Bauer 580 clone glove is the JRZ 90-degree glove. Simply because JRZ are the one who made the Bauer 580 clone for James Reimer. Furthermore, the JRZ 90-degree glove is now the only 580 clone retail glove made in Canada (Quebec).

    I was interested to hear your thoughts, I switched to Bauer Vapor 3x pads size medium (couldn't afford the hyperlite) with a set of supreme 2x pro gloves. I was using CCM eflex 4.9 pads and 3.9 gloves.
    After about over the last 2 months (10 games) I have no regrets, here's a few things I've noticed. Pads: Excellent rebounds, I can seal to the ice a little faster, five holes closes a little different, no issue with my pro laces, strapping is a work in progress I bought the professor straps to help me find the right fit, and do they slide.
    Gloves (pro returns)
    Trapper: A little stuff out of the box ( fixed with skate oven and hot water) puck stays in the deep single T pocket, cuff is large. slight different strapping set up which is taking some getting used too.
    Blocker: rebounds are about the same as my eflex glove, wide cuff, other that that about the same.
    I had the same reaction after the first couple of skates but I stayed and I'm adjusting to the changes, would I back to my CCM's ?
    My suggestion (not that your asked) is be patience
    LOl.. know I want to upgrade my cheat protector 🤦‍♂

    @seancarney444 2 года назад +2

    Good review. I was interested to hear and hope that those listening understand that its not the pads issues you are facing, rather its a "style" issue. Style is in quotations for a reason of course. Its no secret that either your injuries or lack of strength and conditioning are the true cause of your issues with these pads. The Bauer line as a whole is geared to the athletic style goalie. Wide butterfly, high hips, holding edges even in the widest of stances. With that said, the loose fit that Jake, vassy, SHL goalies, etc require the stiffness for a better connection to the ice when sliding and recovering to your feet. Keep working on that strength and skating technique .. the med ball during skates will be your friend . Come to a complete stop when transitioning, get that butterfly wider, and get that back leg stiffer on the RVH and you hips much higher and you will feel great and like these pads more. Cheers

    Definitely interesting as I've been pondering an upgrade for a while now and it's either 3X or M5. I'm leaning towards 3X after this as I also want the pad to work with me a bit. I know what you mean about the loose fitting. That's all the Bauer pads now. I also think that has a little bit to do with your ProLaces and the gap because I noticed a change in how they fit after I switched over to them and my pads now got way looser (GSX).

    • @panter2528
      @panter2528 2 года назад

      I have the 3X pads, and i 100% recommend them, they are very lightweight, and does a very good job sliding wise, they are really close to be as good as the hyperlites(I have tried hyperlites) the only difference was the weight. I would go with the 3X if i was to have that choice

    The firm foam might be fooling you on quality. I hope not. As with all things Bauer tale will be told by the skin.
    As for the mashup factor with pros, many do that kind of thing with many brands. It’s not too uncommon and I wouldn’t view that as controversial to say a pro doesn’t use a 100% full stock pad.

    Is there a reason why you say Lefvere an not True?

    • @FredyAbe

      Because he's emphasizing the design (by Lefevre) and not the brand (True). In other words, the stuff is branded by True but designed by Lefevre. Since the whole point of his video is about the design of the equioment he's talknig about, that is why he says Lefevre and not True.

    I loved my 2x pros and like the slr2 carbons (but retail they are to flexible at the top) I went with M5 pros and couldnt be happier. I feel like the slr2 has the best strapping over bauer. I am on the fence about the new tune fit or whatever, but the knee and new toe bridge is great. 4 nights a week in mens beer league in canada they are working just fine. Complete BS you cant do custom m5 tho lol ( I owned used hyperlites and didnt like the calf pillow and they were to small for me , both size M) the m5 calf pillow/plate I don't even notice its there, the H.L I could feel the pillow pressing into my calf., hated it

    Hey Trav, I have custom hyperlites, and machs. I can definitely say the hyperlite is a much better pad, in every way. I do prefer the Mach strapping over the HL, but that’s about it. Did you notice the 3-d inside calf plate? I really don’t understand why they did that, I would think it would be better flat. Stabil-a-flex is definitely the way to go. I work at a shop and a lot of people going from HL to Mach’s were very disappointed.

    I have Hyperlites with the StabiliSlide knee block. Great pads.
    Also went with the Hyperlite 2pc Blocker which is a callback to the 1X
    Stock Hyperlite glove. Break in process was different than other gloves. Loosen the pocket T attachment point to the glove break. Run hot water inside/outside glove for 1min each. Tie up glove around the buttend of the stick to form the pocket. Closes and works great now

      Stiffness level 3
      StabiliSlide knee block
      Slim/thin Profile
      Flat 100 degree boot
      Soft Boot Flex
      I use Bauer’s Professor Strap. Had never used one before and it’s great for this set up. I like the Hyperlite TuneFit strapping, which I attach tightly at the lowest possible point on my leg. This keeps the pad on top the skate and doesn’t interfere with skating mobility. Soft boot flex option with Hyperlite’s flex points above and below the knee block give you the flex you want. Pads also still have hot rebounds. Easy to kick a puck past the blue line on a hard shot. Slide and seal are great.

    Couple things Trav, all custom Bauer Mach orders come with a smaller calf pillow, and a flatter calf shell on the outside compared to the retail pad you received. That’s because both aren’t NHL approved. It’s been discussed a ton online. Also a lot of NHL goalies won’t do a big switch mid season on their pads, but changing the graphic is fine for them. I wouldn’t say they hate the Mach yet as most goalies won’t have actually worked with the pad till this Summer going into the season.

    • @bestkeeper14
      @bestkeeper14 2 года назад

      @@trav4oilers not really marketed, if you go to the customized it’s the stock option on custom. It’s been discussed heavily by people who have purchased custom. It comes with the ultrasonic calf plate and the Hyperlite calf pillow due to NHL regulations not allowing the shaped plate and massive calf pillow that the retail pad uses
