100 percent agree on the usage of pens and how we measure pH. Lots of us have different experiences with different soils and we just need to find out what works for us individually :D Keep up the good work and thanks so much for all you do
Thank you for your support Brian!
I really enjoyed your videos. Inspired by your methods, tanks & shrimps. In fact, I transitioned some of my caridina tanks after watching a bunch of your videos. Keep them coming. Cheers!
Thank you for watching. Im glad to hear I was helpful. I enjoy your videos as well!
Awesome setup you created there man! The Caridina look sick! Keep it up! 🙌
Thank you man!
Great Video with helpful information and nice pictures. We as your fans need the Shrimp Mania UGF Box with you Logo. It would be nice to see them in their own Tank. Thanks!
Hey Steve. Thank you for Kind words! I might open a shop in the future when I have more time. Too busy with the work and family stuff at this moment
You are very experienced and patient!! Thank you for the videos!
Thank you for your kind words. You have to be patient if you want to breed shrimps
It's a pleasure to see your tanks and your methods. I have a new tank with Amazonia powder soil and ph is 5.8. I don't know if it actally has a different composition than the version of amazonia you show in the video. I guess it might.
It's good, I heard Amazonia powder has lower pH
Great tutorial update. Nice the Algae growth.
Thank you sir!
@@ShrimpMania You're welcome, did something about algae only. let me know what you think. and text me for more info
Great video, I was thinking of getting those hooks for the water filler but didn't know where to find them. Great video and can't wait for the next one
Thank you Ray for your awesome support! I've found them on ebay and they came from China, check that link out, maybe he can send to Canada - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154617279527?hash=item23ffe87427:g:3g4AAOSwUzBhRyV1
Love your content also! Keep it up!
@@ShrimpMania thx for this will ch3ck it out for sure. I'm going to try tue ugf method shortly on my tanks as the substrate needs replacement shortly
Good idea! You won't be disappointed.
Excellent video! You are so patient and you can explain clearly. Liked and subscibed
Thank you for kind words! Appreciate your support👍
Where do I get the algae powder
Thank you 👌🦐🙏
So nice of you
Thanks for all your videos sharing ! I am thinking of keeping freshwater shrimp and need your advise on whether do you use a chiller to cool the water as I am from Asia (Tropical) environment? Thanks
Hey, I believe that the perfect temperature for Caridina shrimp is 22C
Thanks for replying and sharing :)
Brilliant content and facts ♥️👍🏻👌
Thank you 😊
Wow beautiful
I have high PH where I live and I’ve use brightwell dark water to lower the ph of the water it’s self don’t know if there’s a certain amount of tannins that is too much that would harm the shrimp but thought maybe someone here would know
is there any sulawesi shrimp setup tank ? thank you
Nope I never had experience with sulawesi shrimp, maybe in the future I'll do that
This is the reason I use Environment Soil from GlasGarten. It doesn't leech Amonia. My boxes for my UGF should be arriving the end of the month and then I will change all my tanks to UGF.
Good thinking Brian!
I use glasgarten soil in Ugf box and little amazonia in bottom of tank. I always have a problem with cycled tank without Amonia. To sterile no algae to grow, extend cycle period etc.
@@Imara33 I agree ADA is good for cycle because it leaks ammonia. I normally dose liquid household ammonia if I use different soil, I've got also same result
I use also glasgarten, 5.5ph, water crystal clear
Hi, I'm from Vietnam, I really like your method, can you share your lamp, can you tell me what kind of lamp it is and I want a green moss like this? How long do I have to turn on the lights? Thank you for showing me a great video, I love it! ❤️❤️❤️
Hey, I’m using diy led lights ive made myself. I shared how i made it in one of
my recent video. My light is on for 12 hours a day. Thanks
Is the soil from the ugf would be enough to maintain low ph for the whole tank i also wonder whats the level u get
One box is enough for 50L tank, this tank is 90L so I have 2 boxes
I startup tanks in two days, works just fine. No need to wait two months or 10 weeks as some say.
Im glad it worked for you but unfortunately it never worked for me so I learned it hard way and prefer to properly cycle my tank before i add my shrimps.
Great videos.
I have watched your videos and will keep watching great content, knowledge and clear most of everyone's doubts.
I was also wandering where you got those water despensers. I really need something like that to help me as i got my tanks inside my room and always have few water leaks while transferring. Can you please help me with their name or link please. I am in Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you
And keep up the great work. 👍
Awesome, thank you! I bought it in Thailand long time ago you can try AliExpress, the cheapest one will do the job
Awesome video but awesome the music also, tracklist please
Thank you. I'm afraid I don't have a track list. This is just one track of chillout music I downloaded from one website
Great video, pls tell me how long you have turn on light when you cycling tank, and how long after added shrimps. Tnx 👍😊🔝
Thanks. I keep my light for 12 hours a day
Hey, I just purchased some more aqua soil and a cube undergravel filter. If I'm using something like ADA Ver 2, should I cycle the filter in a separate tank first before moving it in?
Hi i got a 120L tank that iv jest set up to keep cristal red shrimp. Iv got 2 UGF boxes with ista shrimp 5.5 four litres split between the 2 boxes and thin layer on bottom of tank .plain ro water in the tank while its cycling .its bean running four a week olso bacter ae sprinkled on the substrate as a starting bacteria..The problem iv got is the ph is 7.5 and does not seem to be falling how long does it take for ista shrimp to buffer the ph to below 6 ph any advice would be greatly received
Hey Great video.
My setup is almost the same, but I have a big problem with bacteria in my tanks. I changed 80% of water and it didn‘t help. The water smells a little bit and it looks a little foggy. Can somebody give me some tricks to solve it.
I thought about uv sterilization, but you didn‘t need it at all.
Maybe some ideas how to fix the problem
Greetings 🖖
Hey, I had this problem as well while I was cycling my tank but at the end it went away when I did 90% wc. I think my bacterial powder got a bit wet because the container wasn't properly sealed and it spoiled. That's why I had this issue. I think you just need to do another large wc and if it doesn't help then just wait for a week or two and stop dosing bacterial powder.
Love your videos! I gave the Asia Method a go and followed it to the T but I ended up getting some Planaria in the tank. Any reason that might have happened and any suggestions on how to get rid of them before shrimp come in? Tank is fully cycled at this point.
Planaria can come when you overfeed with food which is high on animal protein like fish flakes. You can treat planaria with 'no planaria' products. I personally like - Sl Aqua Z1 Bio Protector
Nice method and currently I'm trying it after I saw your vids ! What could be the reason that ammonia is decreasing in my tank but I couldn't see neither the nitirite rise nor the nitrate rise ? will the cotton / hair algea eat it ? now the ammonia level is less than 1 ppm with no indecation of nitirte ! how long nitrite should stay in the cycle ?
Just I would like to say that I've aged the soil in a backet before putting it in the UGF box but still the ammonia is geting leached.
Thx,
It's normal for most soils to leach ammonia for 6-8 weeks. You should get nitrate by 6 weeks in your tank. If you don't have ammonia in the tank try to add some powder food it will rot and give you some ammonia and biofilm
nice setup! can i ask how many hrs do u turn on your lights? i really want kind of that green algae!
Sure my lights are on 12 hours a day
@@ShrimpMania thank you!
If i dont have the bacteria powder what can i use??
I have 5.6 on Ada Amazona Gold no box , 3/4cm and Hamburg filter
It’s good result. I have 5.9 in my other tank, I hope it’ll drop a bit more over the time
@@ShrimpMania As I said in another post, it took me 2 months until it calmed down, and once I had to desludge the entire substrate
That level of water , have u experience ur shrimp jump out of the tank ?
Nope I've never saw them to jump out
I have used golden ada in 6 of my tanks, 6 weeks cycle ph 6.5, not good soil for shrimp keepers.
Yes i had same result, pH a bit high
Were do the cooperpods cume from .sorry for the silly question im new to the hobby
That's a good question! I don't really know the answer if be honest
Whats the moss seating on the UGF
flame moss
@@ShrimpMania Have you tried increasing the temperature of water to reduce the nitrogen cycle?
Hello! I'm thinking of setting up a new caridina can I check when changing water do you re-mineralise the RO? Also usually to what tds?
It's called "BEE Shrimp Mineral GH+"
My tds is 110 in all tanks
Great video, I really need to start using filter boxes like yours. Have you gotten to the point of selling any shrimp? I would like to get to that level just to pay for the hobby/addiction.
Thanks Steve, The problem with high end caridina that they don't sell very well and can easy to die in the transit. I used to sell my neos, mischlings and crystl shrimps. Neos are better if you want to sell because they easy shrimp and many hobbies start with them plus some people just put them in the fish tanks with the fish, they can thrive in the tap water so they more demanded. Now I don't have neos and I don't bother to sell my Caridinas not worth it
@@ShrimpMania I have neos, but bored with them. I want to stick to caridinas. Thank for sharing.
Can I ask
how many hours of the light on a day when cycling and after cycled?
12 hours a day all the time
@@ShrimpMania cool , thank you for your help
Hi , What happened if set-up shrimp tank without Bacteria powder .
You can but you need to use the soil which leaks ammonia or add some liquid ammonia or just fish/shrimp food in the beginning
What product do u use as powder bacteria, that u sprinkle on top of soil before u add water ?
Can i use Bacter ae ?
info on bacterial powder i'm using - ruclips.net/video/ozi4sKb0nUA/видео.html
I haven't tried to use Bacter AE, I think it should work as well
@@ShrimpMania its not easy to find all products in Denmark. Do u use Ada Bacter 100 powder ? Or is that something with other kind of bennefits ? 👍🏻
@@nilskoch5098 nope i have never used this
Where can I buy those shrimp under gravel filters?
ruclips.net/video/tZh9OO4jbMM/видео.html
Where can we get those filter boxes at!
ruclips.net/video/tZh9OO4jbMM/видео.html
You used golden ADA, she takes a long time, you had to use red ... ista is ok but it doesn't keep the pH as low as the ADA
Thanks for the info Jakub!
What temp do you have the water
Room temperature 20-22C
Hi, how long will the ista substrate last in your experience?
Hi, If you wouldn’t skip some parts in this video you would find your answer because I was talking about that
what kind of bacteria do you use?
ruclips.net/video/ozi4sKb0nUA/видео.html
you are too patient. I add caridina 48 hours after new tank build
I am from Singapore. You are making things too complicated. Just add seasoned filter material and water from an established tank. Don't need bacteria powder. After a couple of days you can add in one or two small fish or non-valuable or maybe cull-able male shrimp to start the cycle. Feed them just a little and build it up slowly, adding more shrimp or fish as you go. After a week or two, you can remove the fish/shrimp and put in the permanent residents.
Yea I do it as well in some of my tanks just cycle them with guppies. The main purpose of that bacterial powder is to grow green walls
your cycle seems very slow to kick in, maybe you dont have enough micro and macroelements to help bacteria population grow rapidely.
it's all about ammonia leaching by ADA amazonia, takes time
MD fish tank 😂 such a joke this guy.
😂😂😂Thank you for watching to the very end my friend!
