Actually I'm a friend of Danny and he told me that the next Tool album will be entirely in italian and most of the songs will have a different lineup playing Bossa Nova (Maynard on Drums and percussion, Adam Jones on clarinet and bagpipes, Justin on saxophone and harmonica and Danny on vocals.)
You forgot one thing that would have been great in a video like this: the famous "TOOL incident" in which Maynard continued to sing the song normally until the end while immobilizing a fan who had climbed onto the stage and who he had knocked down with jujitsu. The video is quite famous, almost comical and truly absurd.
If you haven't before and this video was the first time you heard the Name: BILL HICKS. Follow that rabbit hole. For a Man who died in 93 (wow 30 years) the Message still remains as relevant today as ever before.
I discovered Bill Hicks due to Tool putting the tribute for him in the Aenima liner notes. I'm forever thankful because Bill Hicks changed my life, even though by the time I discovered him he had already passed away.
46 & Two was used in the Captain America trailer because of the songs meaning about evolving into a higher/more powerful state as personified in the movie, which is why the music sounds out of place. It's used for the lyrics.
Missed a couple of other CooI Easter eggs .. one other big one is lipan conjuring .. it’s a mock chant about the band name. But also it’s a mirror song so it’s time length and structure starts the same as it finishes .. you can take this song of 1 minute and 11 seconds and add it to a tracking program layer it by 1/2 or quarters etc via slowing it down or speeding it up and make the song infinite . I have a version I that’s around 10 mins . There’s a pause dead center of the song and the pause will be there no matter what if you cut the speeds by half or quarters

Danny Carrey also drummed in Know Your Enemy. The live video of it shows both Maynard and Danny come out on stage and briefly turn make the song sound very Tool and then goes back to a Rage sound. Definitely my favorite Rage song because I'm a huge Tool fan!
Tool also crossed paths with tricky in 2001 on tour and did a live show together. Tricky sung on opiate and the reggae dude who appears in some of tricky’s songs (I don’t know his name sadly) sung on Reflection. If you type up, Tool - Live • Irvine, CA • 11/1/2001. you’ll find it. Only reason I know this is cause I randomly stumbled across it in RUclipss recommended ages ago. and I must say, I reckon it’s gotta be one of the best live performances tool has ever put together and has some of the best sound quality out of any live show that’s been recorded of tool.
Thanks for that - I'd never heard this. I swear there was a collab between MJK and Tricky out there, but I've not been able to find it. BTW, that just sounds like Tricky on Reflection.
to add the little bit of knowledge i know about disposition/reflection/triad being split into 3 songs, i'm very strongly leaning towards the "it would not fit on a vinyl in one track" theory because the vinyl of lateralus actually splits them up pretty far apart and there's gotta be a reason for that. disposition is placed after parabola and is the last song of the first disc while reflection and triad are after lateralus like they should be. very interesting move there
Tidbit regarding the supposed Area 51 ex-employee. During that phone call (where he said they’d triangulate on his position soon and he didn’t have much time) it abruptly ended when the satellite the show relayed through randomly went offline, which doesn’t happen often. 👀
Slight correction, Robert Fripp is not and never has been the lead singer for King Crimson. While he has been the only consistent member of the band, he only plays guitar.
Also ya know PEACH was Justin's former band. They also covered their song 'you lied'. 'H' was called "Half Empty" & about the change into fatherhood. TAPEWORM was a project that was gonna have mjk & Trent Reznor. The APC song 'passive' came from that.
Has Art Bell and Coast to Coast disappeared so much from our collective consciousness that even the maker of a Tool iceberg video doesn’t know the source?
I'd have mentioned the huge quantity of soundboard bootleg recordings of Tool's tours from the 90s, the existence of which I believe led to the band's fervent opposition to recordings of any kind.
random iceberg addition: theres a live cut of reflection with rapper hawkman spitting over the top. 2001 i think? just somethin interesting and notable
something interesting is that "Schism" ends with the guitar doing a tremolo and that "Jambi" also starts with a guitar doing tremolo with what seems the same tempo and key. Also that I'm from Argentina, & when I bought Aenima's cd it came with the european version of the cover (with the fakes albums and with the main image not having the eyes) but with the "contortionist" on the proper disc

On the "Three Little Pigs" entry, for the Green Jelly song, not only did they played live, Maynard actually does the piggie voice on the album, alongside Les Claypool, and Danny played drums for the band for a while, but I don't recall if he was on the first album
Silly goose. EP’s aren’t considered albums they’re extended play singles, like when single records have a couple songs on each side of a vinyl record, EPs just have a few more. Undertow, being their first LP, actually does in fact make it their first album. Check any bands discography through a streaming service or online listings, you’ll see LPs are distinctively separated from EPs and Singles, as well as compilations like ‘greatest hits’ also being separated.
Given the recent Beat king crimson formation with Danny on drums, we’re getting pretty close to having all four members having some involvement with Robert Fripp, whether direct or indirect.
Manyards “Prison Sex” meaning reminds me of the quote by Carl Jung “The first beginnings of all analytical treatment of the soul are to be found in its prototype, the confessional.”
im praying that you see this and id be willing to literally pay you to do a Ween iceberg. This Tool iceberg vid is so awesome and I love how in depth it is!!
The biggest fact that Tool fans don't know is that they need to listen to Isis the Band ( named after the Egyptian goddess of magic and wisdom ) and I bet a large percentage of them would prefer Isis as they take that divinity and psychedelia and they make it so deep and profound with great amounts of conviction and teamwork in the music. They also toured with Tool during the 10000 Days tour. I recommend the studio releases from 2000-2010, however most Tool fans will probably enjoy the last 3 albums the most
Ive grown up with Tool and its like they grew as musicians with me. Every album they get better and better and today they are some of the most talented musicians out there. Watching Danny play Pneuma Live when it went viral last year was awesome! Just to see him getting the praise from drum pros reacting to him for the first time was satisfying as hell
Maynard and Layne Staley of Alice in Chains were supposed to do a dual vocal live session of their hit song Man in the Box, but layne was feeling shitty so Maynard preformed it solo instead. Layne later stated he thought Maynards rendition was the best hes head
They also have amazing artwork and try to add something to the physical buyer. For example the aenima album had a holographic effect if that’s what you’d call it, and 10,000 days had the stereoscopic lenses on the flap and pictures to view in 3D inside.
Kids nowadays will never understand the magic of secret tracks. They belong to an era when musicians were rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrEAL fucking high on drugs.

@@ratatuilleparker3002 Sadly my brother may well be the reason for that as he at the Big day out in Sydney in the 90's thanks to being raised catholic stood about 3 meters from the front of Maynard and held his middle finger up from the start of their set to the end of it and he really upset him!!!! When I met Adam Jones, he told me that Paul left "due to creative differences... he had his way of doing things, and we had ours, and they were not the same."
If I’m not mistaken the long as fuck delay between albums was due to a legal dispute with ,I believe ,their record company. My wife and I were on a weekend getaway/roadtrip before getting married and stopped on our way out of town to buy 10,000 days and listened to it nonstop for 3 days. By the time we returned home we knew almost every word. Parts of lost keys were hard to get correct for us for some reason. I blame Hoffman for that.
Adding mention of Danny's side band, Pigmy Love Circus. They opened for A Perfect Circle in 2004/05 for a reunion tour. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. There were great combos of the various band members on a few of each others songs, including Danny and Josh Freese riffing off each other. Somehow they made the small stage at the Opera House in Toronto feel massive.
Putting perfect circle deeper in the iceberg than puscifer is wild considering its vice versa, everyone knows perfect circle, not everyone knows puscifer.
Saw them live on the lateralus tour and the contortionists were amazing! They add to their shows so much to take attention away from Maynard. There was a trapeze/swing and stiltwalkers resembling the videos. One of the best sounding live acts I’ve seen and I have seen hundreds of shows including 3 or 4 tool shows and festivals from 97-present (Woodstock 99, handful of ozzfests, half dozen rock on the ranges sonic temple and couple rolling rock town fairs)
The reference to the extra lines on "Bottom" is talking about the CD insert in some north american copys of undertow (mine atleast), where in a lyrics section, there are extra lines by Henry Rollins that were not used in the song. It's not easy to explain but there's info about it on Wikipedia
I really enjoyed your video, found it very TOOL enlightening. The mythos of TOOL is a deep, dark rabbit hole of strangeness and your mini documentary just made it deeper and weirder, thanks a lot, Dude.😱
FAIIP DE OIAD: This was from Art Bell's radio show during a segment in which people with supposed knowledge of Area 51and the like could call in. @@zee_nyc I wish i could give out that information, but due to some flak hes recieved in the past for his paper in some online forums, he would like to stay anonymous.
All this to be trolled in the end lmao

‘Virginity tres’? Never quite heard of that Tool song. Jeezus.

😅😂😂😂😂
If you haven't before and this video was the first time you heard the Name: BILL HICKS. Follow that rabbit hole. For a Man who died in 93 (wow 30 years) the Message still remains as relevant today as ever before.
Revelations Live and It's just a ride are the best!
I discovered Bill Hicks due to Tool putting the tribute for him in the Aenima liner notes. I'm forever thankful because Bill Hicks changed my life, even though by the time I discovered him he had already passed away.
“ReeeEeeEeeeelly fkn high on drugs” 😂
I saw his HBO special when I was 8 or 9. It completely changed my outlook on life.
your voice and mic quality are perfect for these, so chill i feel like my friends explaining tool to me on a bench while rolling 😂
46 & Two was used in the Captain America trailer because of the songs meaning about evolving into a higher/more powerful state as personified in the movie, which is why the music sounds out of place. It's used for the lyrics.
do u know what is the song at 19:03
Missed a couple of other CooI Easter eggs .. one other big one is lipan conjuring .. it’s a mock chant about the band name. There’s a pause dead center of the song and the pause will be there no matter what if you cut the speeds by half or quarters
pot video is sick, i found it randomly in my college parking lot and it went pretty hard

Hawkman, and I thought it was Tacoma?
Yeah I saw Tricky open for Tool in 2001
He's the main actor on the Parabola video, too. The guy with the tentacles on his head.
Maynard also collaborated with the Deftones on the song passenger.
to add the little bit of knowledge i know about disposition/reflection/triad being split into 3 songs, i'm very strongly leaning towards the "it would not fit on a vinyl in one track" theory because the vinyl of lateralus actually splits them up pretty far apart and there's gotta be a reason for that. disposition is placed after parabola and is the last song of the first disc while reflection and triad are after lateralus like they should be. very interesting move there
Oh, man - I'm a huge Massive Attack and Tool fan, and I've seen Parabola video so many times... but never knew that was Tricky. Thanks!
Maynard isn't the "Lead Singer". He's the *only* singer.
Justin did backup vocals in their cover of You Lied by Peach.
Because he was the bassist for Peach before joining Tool
Also, Peach, the band they covered on Salival, was Justin Chancellors old band before he joined Tool.
He didn’t say he was a singer, he said he was king crimsons guitarists. 10:19 is the time it was said.
Also ya know PEACH was Justin's former band. They also covered their song 'you lied'. 'H' was called "Half Empty" & about the change into fatherhood. TAPEWORM was a project that was gonna have mjk & Trent Reznor. The APC song 'passive' came from that.
the puscifer song potions was also a tapeworm track 👀
Has Art Bell and Coast to Coast disappeared so much from our collective consciousness that even the maker of a Tool iceberg video doesn’t know the source?
do kids even stay up until 3 am to listen to AM radio anymore? losers
I prefer Mae Brussell’s World Watchers
tool is the only band I can say I have listened to every single one of their songs and each time is always better than the last
I'd have mentioned the huge quantity of soundboard bootleg recordings of Tool's tours from the 90s, the existence of which I believe led to the band's fervent opposition to recordings of any kind.
Robert Fripp was the King Crimson guitarist.
random iceberg addition:
theres a live cut of reflection with rapper hawkman spitting over the top.
As a side note, Danny Carey is the greatest rock drummer of all time and has now eclipsed Neil Peart and John Bonham. I am a drummer and I can confirm the torch has been passed. Danny is now numero uno.

On the "Three Little Pigs" entry, for the Green Jelly song, not only did they played live, Maynard actually does the piggie voice on the album, alongside Les Claypool, and Danny played drums for the band for a while, but I don't recall if he was on the first album
Just one minute in and I have an edit. Opiate was Tool’s first album. It was released in 1992 before Undertow’s release in 1993.
I considered it an EP but I get it
Silly goose.
@@la213blanco Silly goose must go goosing around over here. That EP identified as an LP to me. Haha
EP not album. They were tricked into thinking it would count on their contract but it did not
@ copy that.
That ‘holy gift’ write up is intense.
Puscifer is from Tool on a episode of "Mr. Show" Bob Odenkirk and David Cross
i’m starting to think the guy that made this iceberg don’t know nothin
im praying that you see this and id be willing to literally pay you to do a Ween iceberg. This Tool iceberg vid is so awesome and I love how in depth it is!!
18:01 this is also the intro to one of the faceless' songs called Planetary Duality.
Killer track and album.
I recommend the studio releases from 2000-2010, however most Tool fans will probably enjoy the last 3 albums the most
Did you just pitch another band, that is going to be 'more preferred' over Tool; to the Tool Community? LOL
I'll check it out. 😊
@@InevectiveThanks. It means a lot to me
0:08 well to be fair Maynard once famously said “Who are you to wave your finger, you must’ve been out your head”
1:18 the track is also on Apple Music, it’s inside opiate after maybe a minute of silence and him saying Satan a bunch of
puscifer should be on the second layer and perfect circle should be on the top bc more people know abt perfect circle than puscifer
I have the 69-tracked undertow btw
Tool are a spiritual successior to melvins, melvins sre much older
Thoroughly Enjoyed your information!!! I have seen more than 50 bands live including the likes of linkin park,, Sound garden, Creed, GNR, Queens of the stoneage, NINE Inch Nails, M Manson and yet tool was the only one I described as being "PUNCHED IN THE FACE BY SOUND" F-ing LOVE THEM!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Same hear lol here. Sound like an album but better and always seem to add visual art to the set since they concentrate so much on playing well and Maynard doesn’t like to be in the front but prefers to be set back and sometimes not even face the audience.
Today he'd have been removed. I still find it hard to believe he was the singer for Green Jelly's three little pigs video!!!
They didn’t release an album for 13 years because they were being sued by someone who did some of their artwork I think on Salival.
I love for how every entry ur like “well this isn’t that interesting”
I didn't make the iceberg!
My mom hated tool until she understood me
Saw them live on the lateralus tour and the contortionists were amazing!

Music after the song opiate, there’s a couple minutes of silence, then it starts up.
1:18 The track actually is on Spotify, but it isn't listed as its own song. It is instead tacked onto the end of the title track, "Opiate."
I've attended Rollins' spoken word gigs twice, in 2012 and this year. Hilarious and brilliant
Saw him at a rock on the range I believe it was. He was great to listen to. Something different from anything I had seen before.
Well “their fear of releasing a mediocre album” is a wild piece of misinformation lol. They were having tons of issues with their record company…
I really enjoyed your video, found it very TOOL enlightening. The mythos of TOOL is a deep, dark rabbit hole of strangeness and your mini documentary just made it deeper and weirder, thanks a lot, Dude.😱

This dude called and sounded frantic, and the kicker is that he was not just cut off like he got disconnected...the radio station had actually lost the satellites for a few minutes.
Then they didn’t hear back from him and thought something sinister had happened for years before he called back if my memory serves me

The pot video is so legendary, and was an introduction for so many.
10:35 i think what the iceberg was alluding to was that maynard and danny actually were featured on the original recording of the song
"a 30...A THIRTY PAGE DOCUMENT"
Another little know fact is that Maynards dog, a Yorkshire terrier that had passed away, was featured on many of his albums. In 7empest, you can hear a dog bark between where Maynard says "Fuck!" and "Here we go again." at the start of the song.
Fucking fantastic video dude. I generally cannot tolerate a 20 min video but you captured my attention, provided some tidbits I did not know, and I found myself at the end of the video; satisfied. 🤘🏻
