I think it’s important to mention that the old video for ‘the pot’ wasn’t a fan made video, it was a short by the French animator René Laloux made in the 1960’s called ‘the snails’. Someone must of thought it had a similar tone to Tool’s music and put it up as a music video, which makes sense if anyone’s seen Fantastic Planet, which was another animated film he directed. I recommend watching it stoned.

It's funny how many people want to phallate Maynard because of Tool and APC, but don't really like Puscifer. That band is his artistic vision, and always just seems to be a footnote.

The Opiate album, look in liner notes, the live songs were reorded live at the Green Jello Loft. bunch of new bands, including Rage hung out with Bill Manspeaker at Green Jello Studios. Maynard can indeed play bass. There is an abundance of video footage showing him playing the bass during lives performances of “Triad” during Tool’s Lateralus tour (2001-2002) and during live performances of “The Noose” during APC’s Thirteenth Step tour (2003-2004); it is on the latter tour that Maynard is also shown playing drums for the opening of “Vanishing,” the set opener for every show of said tour from November 2003-June 2004.
Extra Tool-related tidbits include “Maynard’s Dick” receiving radio play in the year 2000 with its lyrics censored to sound like “Maynard’s dead,” and Laurie Ann Arden’s (the fat woman depicted in the Undertow artwork and featured in a live performance of “Opiate” at the Scientology center in 1993) arrest and conviction for child molestation.

It's briefly mentioned in a screenshot in this video, but Systema Encephale was one of the more interesting Tool rabbit holes I've found. As I recall the legend, it was a secret Tool album, similar to Project 8, with rumors being spread about it on the newsletter by Blair. People went crazy trying to find this album, becoming convinced that it was pressed into the celebratory Gold or Platinum records that were made when Ænima was certified. Someone actually tracked down one of these things and destroyed the case that the record was in to be able to play it, only to find that it was (IIRC) an 80s hip hop song looped for the entire length of the record. Turns out, those things are really just made for show, and it's very unlikely that the RIAA would indulge this band in hiding a secret album like that

Arizona Bay was the name of a media company that Bill Hicks and his brother were going to operate when Hicks retired from comedy, but as we all know he passed away. There's a Hicks documentary where Hicks' brother is showing Bill the type font that will be used for their company's logo. The business name is taken from one of Hicks' comedy bits where he rants about hating California, specifically LA. In the bit he talks about California sliding off into the ocean, creating an, "Arizona Bay." Maynard shared Hicks' distaste for LA and LA people. Given their friendship, the inspiration behind Aenima's lyrics becomes obvious. The lyrics are essentially Bill's Arizona Bay comedy bit.

But also it’s a mirror song so it’s time length and structure starts the same as it finishes .. you can take this song of 1 minute and 11 seconds and add it to a tracking program layer it by 1/2 or quarters etc via slowing it down or speeding it up and make the song infinite . I have a version I that’s around 10 mins . There’s a pause dead center of the song and the pause will be there no matter what if you cut the speeds by half or quarters

to add the little bit of knowledge i know about disposition/reflection/triad being split into 3 songs, i'm very strongly leaning towards the "it would not fit on a vinyl in one track" theory because the vinyl of lateralus actually splits them up pretty far apart and there's gotta be a reason for that. disposition is placed after parabola and is the last song of the first disc while reflection and triad are after lateralus like they should be. very interesting move there

Undertow, being their first LP, actually does in fact make it their first album. Check any bands discography through a streaming service or online listings, you’ll see LPs are distinctively separated from EPs and Singles, as well as compilations like ‘greatest hits’ also being separated.

The biggest fact that Tool fans don't know is that they need to listen to Isis the Band ( named after the Egyptian goddess of magic and wisdom ) and I bet a large percentage of them would prefer Isis as they take that divinity and psychedelia and they make it so deep and profound with great amounts of conviction and teamwork in the music. They also toured with Tool during the 10000 Days tour. I recommend the studio releases from 2000-2010, however most Tool fans will probably enjoy the last 3 albums the most

Adding mention of Danny's side band, Pigmy Love Circus. They opened for A Perfect Circle in 2004/05 for a reunion tour. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. There were great combos of the various band members on a few of each others songs, including Danny and Josh Freese riffing off each other.
