As a huge Tool fan who knows very little about making music, time signatures, etc, this is SUPER accurate for the Tool community.

Basically: Most western music is written in 4/4 sometimes 3/4. The upper number is beats per measure. The lower number is the note value that constitutes a beat. You really don't need to know what that means beyond the fact that most western music has four beats in a bar, also known as a measure. Tool however, prefers to write your music in complex time signatures. Like 7/8, or 5 / 8. It makes their music almost as if it is spilling over itself, it is more difficult to pull off, and quite impressive. That is why fans of tool foam at the mouth over the time signatures

@@jdhed1 no joke man. all tool albums but the new one i liked pretty much right away. i was indifferent with the new one but always kept coming back giving it a chance, and honestly the album isn't weak at all like i thought, it's actually a really good fucking album. sure maybe some fans were hoping for something better given the 13 year gap, but lets be realistic, if Tool put this out a couple years after 10,000 days people would gobble that shit up. all i can say is to any Tool fan, if you're having a hard time getting into the new album, just give it some time. fuck they're in their 50s and still putting out good shit. not washed up at all
8R014V amén man. I was one of those people that said that this album was underwhelming and almost forgettable when I was listening to it back in September-November range. Then i let it go. I came back to it a week ago and it sounds so different to me now. I’m really enjoying it.
I can picture the band members reciting these lines to each other and laughing at us.
They're still my favorite band ever and seem like some guys I'd like to meet.

Tool is a spiritual awakening for the mind. Their artistry is so layered in each song that you have to listen to each one IN ORDER, over many sessions, to fully grasp the concept of their intelligence and subtle puzzles.

The new album is great. It’s just that it’s recent and people had barely listened to it four years ago. I’m guessing half the comments that have said it was underwhelming four years ago have begun liking it more after listening for some time.
Fear Inoculum is the best album in the last decade.
In my experience it is a curse to publicly identify as a Tool fan. You can like Tool music, but anyone I know who goes around professing or preaching their love of Tool, is an absolute spanner. I am unsure why.
