After an exhaustive attempt to have my DreamstationGo fixed by Philips, I used your video to remove the foam. I love the machine and did not want to return it after their recall for CPAPs due to the toxic sound abatement material. I can't thank you enough for this video. I'm a 70-year-old woman, with some mechanical skill, who was able to follow your instructions and take care of this in less than an hour.

Thank you, thank you, a thousand times thank you. I registered for the GO recall over 2 years ago and other than an acknowledgement of the registration, I have heard bupkis from Philips. Philips behaviour is disgraceful; I'll never purchase another of their products. I've decided that it is time to travel so I followed your video and extracted the foam in one piece with the drain weasel. Your video was so easy to follow. I really appreciate the videos you post. Cheers mate!!!!!!

Thank you, great video. Interesting to see that the foam is a sound deadening material that can be removed. Hopefully its not too noisy after removing the material.

This video is genius. Easily removed my foam. Fortunately, I never used the optional humidifier I had bought and used a Sleep 8 only once. The foam still looked fresh with no visible degradation. (I used a ChannelLock HP-4ECP mini hook and pick set that I had.) Only a tiny change in noise. Just going to keep the unit and not send back. The refurbished units Philips returns are reportedly not always in the best shape. And the FDA says one test showed the new silicone noise insert also may be a VOC problem. ... Not sure I would have attempted this without the video. Thank you!

Thanks mate, I got it done in 30 minutes, it's very easy after watching this video. As I do not use a humidifier, the foam was still in good condition so no residue there. It can be removed by a paper clip. I notice that you can clean the inside of the vent by removing the one screw, remove the fan, and you can blow out any residue without dirtying the fan

Great easy narration. However I had a small screw that was left after assembly 😮. Reviewed the video and quickly found my error. Screw held the turbine in the plastic shell. I wore a covid mask while working. I have a hundred left over. I also used a regular Dyson vacuum hose with needle attachment to clean out chamber and my work surface. I watched video completely first. Ordered the I fix it kit and drain weasel on Amazon. Watched and stopped the video while working each piece. Very easy. Took me 1hr. Thanks! I have my travel cpap back!

Thank you sir. Although I worked on taking apart and putting back computers together for 7 yrs, I was somehow hesitant to take apart something I use to breathe. Finally did it using a stretched-out paperclip with a hook at the tip. Foam broke into no less than 3 parts, but the foam-7ucker is out! I can now use my travel machine!

Great instructions, this gave me the push to defoam my Dreamstation Go, and I just finished. The drain weasel worked great. One tip, remove the air filter. I forgot to, and it was making it difficult to reinstall the fan housing until I noticed it interfering. Thanks Nick!

Just finished removing the foam from my Dreamstation Go. I didn't use the drain weasel but was able to ease it out little by little with very long needle nose pliers. Thanks.

Thank you so much for this!! I didn't feel like going out and buying a weasel so I took a piece of insulated 14 AWG solid copper wire (leave insulation on to avoid scratching the plastic all up) and I was able to pull the foam out by bending the wire just right and digging into the foam far back and pulling (several tries). It almost came out completely intact. I've got to blow out a few particles though!!

Thanks for the instructions. It was easy removing the foam. The CPAP is way noisy after the removal but I'm turning it 180 degrees so the intake is away from me. Fingers crossed it's not too loud.

OH my God. Just finished up. That little ribbon was so hard to get back in for me for some reason! The long one slipped right in just like it did for you. The little one kept getting caught. Maybe I need my eyes checked! Donno. Got it though. Not noticeably noisier! :)

Before I open my machine's case do I need to remove the memory card and filter? And how can I check if my machine is working fine after I remove the foam? We are not getting feedback on when the repair kit will arrive for DS Go here in the Philippines. For the past weeks I had asthma attacks and I think it is related to the foam issue. After I stop using my machine my attacks stopped too.

    Nick,
Thanks SO much for the great detailed instructions. Doesn't look to difficult to accomplish as long as you're careful handling the little flex circuits and tiny connectors. Do you know if any of the PCBs are static sensitive?
Got my DS Go for a trip late this spring then learned it was recalled on Foamgate 3 months later. I probably won't operate on it yet while under warranty. I really like the compact little machine. Crying Shame they loaded it up with cancer foam.
    🍻 Cheers

I am so flippin frustrated! Now Phillips says I have to wait till the end of 2022 for a new machine. I’m tempted to remove the foam! If they ask for my old Dream Station go-should I send it in? Or just keep it? Suggestions? 1.5 years later

I was one of the first in the US to report to Lanky that I received a DS2 for a DS1 replacement. My DS1 and DS Go were/are less than a year old. What do you suppose Phillips is going to do to remedy a travel/portable machine?

    • @MrSoulMonk
      @MrSoulMonk 2 года назад +1

I am in the same boat as you. I have not received the DS1 replacement and no word on how Philips intends to handle the DS Go. I received two notices urging me to contact my provider regarding the continued use of the Philips CPAP units. I had registered the recall back in June. Considering how new my units are, I would be happy with a refund.

Same here. I haven't heard of anyone getting a replacement for DS Go. Have you? In any country?

    • @rosawebb4068

Spoke to Philips customer service on 1/10/22. Was told there is no current travel size machine. I told her I didn't want a full size machine so she said "Well wait until you receive the replacement and then call us back." It's not her fault, poor girl just needs a job, but there's no point in trying to figure out what they're doing. So thanks to this video I pulled out the foam from my DS GO.

I just heard about the recall when I did some research to buy a new hose for my dreamstation go. Based on what I am reading, it looks like if I go the recall route I will receive a DS2 and not a new Go machine. Also even if I do the silicone based foam is hardly any better. I do like my machine since I do camp a lot with it and made a custom 24V power supply for it that runs for a solid week or more. I am on the fence with either just removing the foam to keep the machine or trying another brand out of pocket. I have only ever had this Go machine so don't have any experience with anything else so unsure what I am missing out on with another brand... so I guess my question is should I just pull the foam and keep what I have or go for the recall? Wife already complains its loud sometimes so wonder if my foam is so deteriorated its not baffling the sound anymore.. If so that's scary. Seems the recall requires my sending the go machine back?

Are the VOCs only coming from the foam? Love your efforts btw!
