I had the same experience! It was like they were trying to explode my lungs with the absurdly high pressure. First I was lent the machine by my provider to try out for a week, smart ramp enabled, and it worked perfectly - zero apnea. But when they gave me the machine after my insurers agreed to pay for it, smart ramp was disabled and the pressure fixed at 13. Loony! This video has allowed me to take control myself! Ten thousand thanks to Nick for this vid!

How do you not know that your doctor isn't altering the settings to force you to schedule an appointment?

    • @ekbanjosworld4926
      @ekbanjosworld4926 Год назад +1

These so called doctors, are going to be a thing of the past here shortly ! All they are concerned with is getting more patients and billing the insurance companies ! They have so many patients, that they cannot or will not take the time to actually set down with you and explain the machines capabilities and the process ! They then hire these younger inexperienced interns to see you on their behalf because they are sooo busy. Now they can bill more insurance companies and make more money ! They say that they are so booked up that you can't get an appointment for 3-6 mos out. This is bullshit ! And why is it when you schedule an appointment to arrive there on time and then you're forced to sit in a waiting room with sick people for two hours waiting to see the Dr. ! Do you all see where this is going ? They don't want you resting well and not scheduling appointments. Instead of your doctor telling you that you can do exercises with your throat and tongue to alleviate the sleep apnea, they sell you an expensive machine, set it up improperly from their office, just to keep you tire, exhausted and returning to see them ! I'm turning off the Bluetooth on my machine ! I no longer want my Dr to be able to change the settings from the comfort of their office ! I will monitor my own perimeters until I get my machine dialed in perfect ! When my hypoxnea level rises from the paltry 2 where it is now back up to 4 I plan on removing the oxygen!
Last time I went to my doctor. I told them I was falling asleep during the day. They said it was from oxygen deprivation? It wasn't from oxygen deprivation, it was because of sleep deprivation ! My Dr told me just like all of yours did, don't worry about the settings, we control that here. All at once my machine started getting hot in the humidifier? To the point where it started using more water every night ! I went and looked. Imagine that! The settings have miraculously been changed ? But how could that happen ? Easily done with Bluetooth from their office ! I haven't slept well since before 2020 ! I'm considering a malpractice lawsuit !

So, 3 1/2 years ago I was fitted with this machine…kinda…they stuck it on my face and said looks good, off you go! I didn’t know squat about the machine, it’s capabilities or menu. I also found sleeping with it a nightly wrestling match and of no benefit resting or waking refreshed, etc. I felt like CRAP! Then I discovered this video series… Ive adjusted all the necessary settings and am actually looking forward to experiencing some positive results for a change! Thanks for putting to this series together for all the tortured souls out there!

Awesome info, I'll try it after Philips fixes my machine. I always found that when the pressure was higher than 12 I woke up constantly, felt like I was driving with my head out the window! Caused air leak issues as well.

That was a huge source of discomfort last night. Thanks Nicko!

@@CPAPReviews Got it 3 days ago, and I'm over the moon!
It replaced a Respronics System 1, that was on its last leg. While a good unit for its time, the Dream Station blows it out of the water!
Thanks to your video, setup was a breeze!
My original setup was 14 max pressure, so I set this at 15 max, just to give it a little headroom.
I had the min set at 5, but raised it to 6, because it was just too low, and had me feeling a little claustrophobic, but 6 is perfect!
Set to auto, it just works! When it comes on, it's so quiet, I thought it wasn't working, LOL!
It's so nice to go to sleep, and let this machine just do its magic.
3 nights in, I haven't felt this well rested in years!
I got this without a prescription, because I just didn't want the hassle of telling my Dr, going through another *#&@ sleep study, just to have them tell me what machine I'm going to use.
I've done a ton of research, and thanks to your informative videos, decided on the Dream Station, and am so glad I did!
I've even downloaded the app that goes with this system, and now am more informed than ever before!
The insights into my sleep cycles will make tweaking the settings in the future more accurate than a Dr ever will.
I might even buy a second one, and store it as a backup, LOL!

I've been using my Dream Station for about 5 years. That's long enough that my insurance will pay for a new machine, but there don't seem to be any new machines available. Supplier is telling me that they don't expect to see any new machines until at least late September.
(I have registered my machine on the recall website.)
But as a practical matter I think that if I've been using the recalled machine for 5 years, another month or two probably isn't going to make much difference. If it's going to poison me, it likely already has.

Hi Scott, i think you're right mate, a few more months are probably not going to make too much of a difference. Cheers brother. Good luck. Nicko

@@CPAPReviews For what it's worth, I've never used an ozone cleaner on the machine, the the foam is probably not disintegrating.

Thank you so much. In over one year I have never had this explained despite countless complaints to dme and provider. I don’t think they know! I became more and more sleep deprived and did want to thrown machine across room. Finally gave up on it. However, I was just diagnosed with afib so am back on it. I am going to play with these settings as the last two weeks of being back on machine have me super-exhausted again. Of the five masks I have tried, the one that worked the best is Phillips but I can’t find the number. But now I know what to demand that provider explain to me. Thank you.

Thanks for all the effort you have put into this series. I watched them all and thumbs upped them as appropriate. The tutorials are far more helpful than the manuals as they are quite comprehensive and easy to understand. Although I'd consider myself reasonably advanced in my knowledge of CPAP machines and technology in general, I did pick up one or two helpful hints so it was time well spent, even for an advanced user. I just upgraded to one of these machines (an auto one) and I am delighted with it. You have helped me tweak it even further for which I am grateful. :-)

nice machine but one thing that know one talks about is closing the door for the reservoir. Do not just snap close the door on the water chamber. It will break after time so just slide open the chamber door and then close it the same way.
