    • @SanneHoekstra
      @SanneHoekstra 2 месяца назад +4

      And (we in) the western countries are also making this possible by importing goods from China (and energy from Russia). We could be more vocal 9n this, or impose trade tariffs based on social factors of the source country and/or their trade partners.

    • @SanneHoekstra
      @SanneHoekstra 2 месяца назад +2

      We have very specific social, environmental and economic policies in the west. It should not be possible to evade those policies by importing from foreign countries and benefiting from the social, environmental and economic differences. Trade tariffs should be based on those differences, both to prevent western companies to benefit on the back of other countries and people and also to incentivize those countries to improve their policies in the benefit of their citizens and secondly the environment.

It is just so unbelievable that and the stories of the treatment of the people just seems unbelievable. I don’t mean to say it is not true. It just sounds so incrediblely unreal. Concentration Camps of WWII come to mind. Just the idea of what people will do to each other is stunning.

      It's not possible to help them. Would you sacrifice your son to fight for their freedom? I certainly wouldn't.
      Besides the West will not be allowed to help because of China and Russia. Eventually there will be a war against the West and the country will be totally destroyed. It's inevitable. Some will survive and perhaps something better will come or perhaps not, maybe something much worse. And yes, it can always get worse.
      North Korea is a hellhole with nuclear weapons in a bad neighborhood which likes to provoke the USA - eventually that's a recipe for utter disaster.

      The truth is, there’s nothing we can do. Diplomatic pressure doesn’t work: the country is already under the strictest sanctions in the world but they’re meaningless because the elites are still able to get what they need from nations that don’t sanction them or black markets.
      We can’t invade when they have nukes and are protected by China. And even if we could invade, we’d be saddling South Korea with an enormous refugee crisis they are in no way equipped to handle. And well, we in the west don’t have a good track record with trying to liberate people, the last time it went well was WW2.
      We just have to wait for the day where, hopefully, North Koreans decide to liberate themselves and support them as best we can when they do.

    That recently defected diplomat also said that the North Korean public are no longer fascinated by Kim's daughter. Instead they are privately questioning why she's being paraded around everywhere, why she never seems to be at school and is always attending events like military parades and missile launches, why she's in obvious luxury foreign clothing rather than some kind of school or Party uniform or even a Korean hanbok, and why is she hugely overweight, why is she seemingly not mixing with her peers or going to an elite school or rubbing shoulders with the other elite children, etc.
    And even before that, other defectors have said that there is disquiet in diplomatic and ambassadorial circles where people just think along the lines of "Oh, not _another_ Kim? Seriously?" whenever the leader changes or there is talk of succession. They are fed up of it and it's very reminiscent of Gaddafi's Libya.
    Kim Jong Un's poor health is also a very serious national security concern - because if he were to die suddenly or become incapacitated then is there a succession plan in place? Who is it? Will that person be challenged? Will there be internecine strife? A coup? Who will prevail and what will that mean for the rest of the world?
    It's a potential nightmare.

      He has authority to rule this world because of man's sins. But when Jesus returns at the end of the age, after the world has learned how it is to reject God (the only one who cares and can help,) then he'll throw satan and his hosts of demons into the Lake of fire that burns with sulphur (geographically, the centre of earth, where you can view it in geographical books, but which was told us 4,000 years ago and later 2,000 years ago.) There will never be justice, truth, and love on earth till Christ's return. Don't mock (in case you're tempted to,) just check it out.

    The N/Korean people brought this all onto themselves. When N/K invaded S/K in 1950 backed by China, the S/K army were losing till the US sent thousands of troops to join the battle. Both armies drove the communists back and even pushed well into N/R . The decision was made to withdraw to the area now known as the Demilitarized Zone . So it was possible that the N/K people could have been freed from their tyrannical rulers, but they instead choose to fight for them, and they fought hard. So they brought this all onto themselves .

      N Korea is a tragedy, but you are mistaken in your historical facts. There were a few more countries other than the USA that sent troops, and they should not be overlooked. Great Britain, Canada, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Colombia, Ethiopia, South Africa, New Zealand, Türkiye, Greece, Thailand, Philippines and Luxembourg sent fighting units.
      in addition, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, India, Italy contributed military hospitals and field ambulances to the cause.
