    Hey guys! Just wanted to say im from Montreal, ive been planning my camping trip this summer in Ontario, and you guys have been super helpful in displaying the parks, facilities, campsites. I discovered your channel a couple months ago and its been really helpful. A lot of the parks dont show very many photos on the website, so its nice to get a good look at the campgrounds in your videos. My girlfriend and I plan to stay 1 week in the Bruce Peninsula, and then another week at Killbear, and I think we made a very good choice for our locations. For now though, we're still doing the tent, we are in our mid 20s and we got the energy for it, so its alright. I definetly see the appeal in trailer/rv camping, it just feels like cheating to me (especially at my young age). I'll get into the RV stuff when im older, and maybe a little wealthier, by then I will appreciate it more, as I think Ben would agree! 😂

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  5 месяцев назад +3

      You picked a couple of great parks to go to in Ontario. When you're at Bruce Peninsula have a good look at the trails map to see where the Grotto is. Many people go to Indian Head Cove and think that's the Grotto but the Grotto is about 100 metres north of Indian Head Cove and many people miss it. We tent camped into our 40s and loved it. Once we tried a trailer though, we were SOLD! For us camping isn't as much about the conquest and adventure now, it's more about beautiful views and getting some exercise while having the comforts of home back at the campsite. There's no need for you to rush into the RV Lifestyle. You have plenty of time for that. You're the age of our kids. Happy camping!

    Looking forward to another great season of Camping With The Coles! Depending on your dates maybe our paths will cross at Inverhuron…..which leads me to suggest Halfway Lake as their sites are similar….huge, very private and nice and level. Theres great hiking and paddling and lots of amazing waterfront sites. It might even sneak into your top 10 😊

    Originally being from Cornwall, I'm really looking forward to your review of the St Lawrence Parks, but especially the Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary!!! As a kid, my family used to camp there all summer...it was known as Nairne Island Campground then. My dad worked at the OPP detachment in Long Sault, so it was a short commute for him while my mom and my sisters and l camped. There used to be a walk between Nairne and Morrison along part of the old, sunken Hwy 2 where we'd always find bits of old china and glass to collect. Great times back in the '70s! And please do make sure sure you get to Upper Canada Village...I can still smell the aroma of their fresh baked bread - l haven't been back in decades, but it was always a part of our annual trip. Enjoy!!!

    I’m from Eastern Ontario, the parks of the St Lawrence are lovely! They are quite a bit different from provincial parks however. Lots of great biking, paddling and snorkelling in the area. The lost villages museum & upper Canada village are great to check out!
    We camp annually in the area and the road going into the water is always a reminder of the villages (6) that were flooded. Many homes were relocated but the foundations remain, as do the roads.

We did a 16 day road trip to Gaspe from the GTA two summers ago with my then 4 and 6 year old with our tent trailer. Your Lake Superior tour video really helped me plan! We went to Oka, Jacques-Cartier, Bic, Forillion, a rainy night in a Cambellton hotel (supposed to stay at Sugarloaf) and Kouchibouguac. Highly reccommend a dedicated trip this region next time you go east! Happy planning!

    I actually just subscribed to your channel today and this video popped up 🙂.
    Wheatley is my "home base" park as I live in Chatham which is about a 35-40 minutes drive along the lake from it. I go there often throughout the year and love rucking with my pack through the park when it is closed during the off-season as it is so quiet and peaceful and feels like you have the entire park to yourself.
    I am also a huge fan of Point Pelee National Park and visit it quite often as well. I have had their annual "Blue Pass" since 2012 and it is like your own Point Pelee VIP pass🥰. The card has a special magnetic chip inside and there's a second entrance at the Park gate which is automated and allows you to bypass the general admission lineups (which can get quite long on nice and/or popular weekends).
    You basically just pull up, hold the card in front of the reader, it beeps to let you know it has been scanned, the gate goes up and you get to smile as you drive in and look back at the huge lineup of cars waiting to get in 😁.
    Enjoy both Parks and perhaps I might run into you nice folks if I'm out there 😊.

They have amazing breaded perch there and you can even buy the breading they use for it if you like it 😋. Taylor's is always my first stop whenever I camp at Wheatley. Sounds like a great season of camping! We are also looking forward to our first trip to Lake St. Peter at the beginning of June. I also like the idea of being self sufficient to have more campsite options, especially when it comes to those waterfront sites. We are doing the research now to get there. Unfortunately, there is is so much conflicting information out there, especially solar vs generator, lithium vs lead acid. Your videos do a real service in so many ways.

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  5 месяцев назад

      It's so much information to sort through when trying to figure out the best way to be self sufficient. I think we're keeping it as simple as possible by upgrading to LiFePO4 batteries and using a solar generator to top up the batteries and run AC appliances such as the microwave. But even with that you have to determine what brand of batteries and how much amp hours you need and how big a solar generator you want and how much solar panels is best. Whew, it's a lot.

    I was looking forward to your summer 2024 upcoming park reviews. I love your videos & thank to both of you we planned a one long itinerary of visiting parks in Ontario this summer because of your reviews. This will be our first year camping with a travel trailer same length as yours & watching your video made it so easy for us to book our campsite. We've been to Point Peele last summer not camping but staying close to the park entrance. I love that our dog was able to go & swim on all beaches. That was great. Lots of great beach there & of course the birds. The St Lawrence park is close to where I live & I go there often to bike. There is lots of biking to do.
    Presqu'iles is a park I love., it is the first park I went for my first camping experience. This year we were able to get a campsite close to the water. Looking so forward to this summer camping.
    Happy camping to both of you. Looking forward to see your reviews & especially the one in New York.
    Your website & interactive map is awesome. Love how you did it. It is very user friendly.
    Maybe we will see you in Presqu'ile or Awenda this summer.

    I'm looking forward to season 6! Our summer plans will unfortunately not include nearly as much camping as we only have 3 trips planned but I will live vicariously through you.
    For Sept/Oct, I'd suggest leaf-peeping in upstate New York or Vermont. We lived in Vermont for a year and I genuinely didn't know how incredible autumn could look until I spent one there. As your summer plans are taking you to New York though, maybe you don't want to return again so soon? Agawa Canyon is beautiful and has a sight-seeing train for the fall leaves, but that's a heck of a drive for you.

    Re: Long Sault, yes, bring your snorkels!!
    Just East of the town of Long Sault, you'll find the Lost Villages museum, where you can learn all about the building of the dam, which flooded the area including a number of small villages.
    Then on Macdonnell Island is Lock 21, which is a very popular scuba diving site, but I heard tell that you can see the ruins from shore sometimes.

    My great grandma had her house on the st.lawerence river on the other side of cornwall from those campgrounds, her house was on highway 2 in summerstown. I recommend taking the drive from the campgrounds into cornwall and out the otherside up highway 2 and check out cooper's marsh it a small conservation it's free and has a nice boardwalk it's about 20 minutes away from those campgrounds ... also my great grandma now is buried in long sault right on the st.lawerence river right next to the long sault parkway. I was down there 2 summers ago checking out the long sault, and many memories in cornwall and doing the drive along the river but yeah highly recommend the drive and the hike at the marsh if u got time.

    Love Sturgeon Bay! From everything I found on the Ontario Parks website it’s the smallest park you can car camp at. Went tenting there last year with some family and we got hailed on!! The other parks you guys have planned for the season are great too! McRae, Bass, and Mara are some of my all time favourites and it’s cool to see that you guys are finishing the trifecta! Also I think you guys missed Missinaibi Provincial Park on your website. It’s quite North so I’m not sure if you guys will ever make it, but it does have around 35 car camping sites. I just checked your website because I wanted to see what parks you guys have visited that I plan on visiting this year! Have fun with Season 6!

    We have a few parks on our list this year that you are visiting. We'll keep our eyes out for you :)
    Ferris is (almost) in my backyard, it's the closest to us, but is it one of the most disappointing Ontario parks that we've been too. It's not a clean park, and I find it noisy. (get your wilted flower ready Cheryl)
    But I know several people who love it, so hopefully you enjoy. The suspension bridge and falls are a lot of fun.

      It's funny how a park can be an absolute favourite to one person and a big disappointment to another. We always try to find the positives in the parks and not dwell to much on the negatives. Any camping trip is better than not camping.

    Great video. What cleaning solution do you use in your sprayer to clean your roof?

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  5 месяцев назад

      I've always used Dicor Rubber Roof Cleaner mixed with water in a bucket and applied with a sponge mop. This time however, I'm trying Zoom Concentrated All Purpose Cleaner amzn.to/3U6oKHR. It was at the Kitchener RV Show and I thought I would try it out. You spray it on, let it sit for a couple of minutes then gently agitate it with a soft brush then hose it off. I used it on the roof and body of the trailer and was very impressed. I didn't use it on the awning and tipout yet but it's supposed to be good for everything. It cleaned the roof better than the Dicor product and it was easier to apply.
