I have a question. If you change the size of the starting squares, does that change the 1-7/8" measurements you draw for the folding lines on either side of the two corner-to-corner diagonal lines?
If the goal is the make a bigger or smaller basket then the lines will have to be changed to be either closer or further apart. The lines set out the bottom square of the basket and determines the size of the base. The measurement will depend on how much larger or smaller you would like your basket to be and how high you want the sides to be. So long as you start with a square you should be fine. I would try to keep the measurements relatively proportional to the ones that I have. For example if you increase the size of the square by X" then move the lines the corresponding number of inches. I hope this makes sense.
I am not sure but you may be able to have a center square up to about 8" x 8" if you measure out the lines correctly. I would play around with a muslin to see how it looks.
Hi, DianaI just came across your video. I love this project. Is this a layer cake friendly. I have bought a bundle of 200 pack of Layer cake of beautiful prints a while ago. Making small projects here and there. I just ordered a 100-piece bundle of beautiful buttons. It will be delivered by tomorrow. This super cute Tulip basket seems as it will fit a Pint of ice cream. using Insul Bright keep hands from freezing great idea, I am going to start right now. Thanks for sharing Diana have a beautiful day.:There are 9 inches in 1/4 yard. When stitching the corners together do you over lap them or sew them point to point?
The size if this project is actually a little larger than layer cake which is 10 x 10. But you could make this project from them but it would be a bit smaller. I am not sure the smaller version will do what you need. I just don't know. You could give it a try though. Good luck.
Love it. Very practical gift with beginners sewing skulls and your great tutorial. 👍
Thank you! 😊 Glad you liked it. It is a fun one.
Great job, Diana!
Thank you!

Would it help to sew the bottom on the line you drawled? So it would stay crisp and square. Just my thoughts. 😊
Yes. Thank you.

The sun hat that you made earlier what size is the crown? Would it fit 24” crown? Thank u. Just found you’re web site
It should fit a 24" crown though I am not sure what the measurement actually is because I cannot find mine at the moment.
❤ Awesome bc I made a bucket hat and that 24” is perfect! I’m very new at sewing. Thank you
I wonder what size the center bottom square would be if I did this 14" x 14". Any thoughts?

Thank You. Happy 4th!🇺🇸
