For anyone curious, the rear seat opening is around 11' and the front seat is also around 11'. I was hoping I'd only need 2-20' for all four doors, but no luck. Went with 4-20' lengths to get all 4 doors with minimum gaps.
Try put the gap and a point where it wont allow water to run in to it. And also a pretty good idea to put a bit of clear nail polish to prevent those metal tabs from starting to rust. I've used this method with great success in the past (Y)
Hombre, what a coincidence! Past few days been shopping for my 3rd Gen and ruled out OEM. I had seen the one you used but was not sure it would work. Now, thanks to you, I will buy it. Thanks for your contribution.
Saw your video and decided to replace some of mine and per advice of one of the comments on here I ordered 4 of the 20 foot rolls off amazon. I just did my passenger side only so far. Installation and everything was easy. Just wondering how hard was it to close your doors when you just put it on? Before to close my doors it was normal force and now I have to slam them egregiously hard now to get them to actually close. Is that normal? They've been installed for less than a day now. Something seems off unless that's just normal until they flatten out after a couple days. I can see it's actually pushing my doors out too. Idk, something just feels off.
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks gotcha. I can tell it’s better now from them being closed all night but still really hard to close. Guess it’ll just be a lil while. They are definitely sealing the doors now 🤣. Thanks
I replaced mine about 3 years ago with the same stuff from ebay. The door took a good amount more force to close. More like slamming it then closing it. It was impossible to push it closed from the half latched point. I figured it would eventually shape up in the AZ heat. I just recently replaced with OEM since the aftermarket still had to be slammed to close the door. The stuff I bought was 1/2" roughly. maybe going down a side would be a better option.
I live in a pretty wet climate. I’m curious if anyone else in the PNW or similar climate have found that this method works well enough to keep the water out?
I’m wondering the same thing-my dog ruined the hatch seal going bonkers with excitement getting into the cargo area on our way to the dog park-I’m in the PNW too and recently discovered moisture and mold on the floors -even some mushrooms growing under the front seats. Need to get things cleaned up and water tight !
I just need to do one door, do you think the 10' is good? Also, in video, you mention that the one from Amazon is 24' but when I use your link it says 20'?
If you cut the gripper off and leave the tube long at one end, you can shove it into the other end to make a complete seal.
good call
Thank you for this suggestion. I just did three of my doors and this worked great.

@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks Which weather stripping do you order for the rear hatch door on the 3rd Gen 4runner?

Right about to buy some of this off amazon to do on my 4runner. Thanks for the info. Going to purchase four 20 ft rolls like you did
I have a 3gen, just to make sure how many feet are needed for all 4 doors ? 80 ft ?
Thanks! The passenger door on my '97 has been whistling Dixie as I go down the highway! Time to try it out!
Good stuff, thanks for the advice. I figured it took about 12 ft per door on the front doors

Thank you for this video. This saved a lot of money and was straight forward / easy to do.
Thanks and good luck
Glad I never pulled the trigger on the oem, thanks!!!!!
glad to help, good luck
Just want to come back here to say i ordered the product and is actually pretty good. Fits like a glove
Awesome, glad it for you too
Thank you for solving my issues without spending OEM. Going to replace all four of them and thanks to the links.

Its harder to close at first. Need a couple hot days and it will form the the door gap better.

Mine comformed, door shuts perfectly.
I use a wood burning tool to melt plastic back together. Do you imagine that would work to melt the weather stripping ends together?
I dont think so, its rubber.
how much feet of it do you need for a drivers door
How has it held up in those corners??
I appreciate you sharing this, I've had a bad leak due to the weather striping being bad. Thank you

Has worked perfectly for me since install through all weather here in the midwest.
Helpful thank you

How do you get the door sill trim out so easily? It feels like it's glued in my 4runner.
weather strip is glued on just have to pull it off one way or another.
Does the strip just snap or squeeze the rail? What kind of adhesive is required so it last 10yrs plus. Thanks for sharing
just pushes on, theres tons of weather strip adhesives, Id go 3M
How is the weather strip after 2 & 1/2 years?
Still doing perfect
any update on whether that stripping works for the rear?
I looked at mine, and it looks like it won't work for the rear. Have a look at yours and see what your think.
How did it work out for the tail gate hatch?
I never did mine. Check the moments someone else may have

@@crystalmoss7419 lol Im sorry but, PNW, 3rd gen, dog, mushrooms growing in the car. I feel like this a meme for the entire population of the PNW!!

I think it was 20, my experience was that 10' was not enough.
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks It's going to take about 12'
what hatch so you have?
Factory hatch
Anyone more who did it this way, how was your result?
Still so far so good for me
My door has started whistling a few months in. Could be installer error but it was great to begin with 😢
@@sarahoworth4212 did you use adhesive or no?
Thanks Bro just ordered
Where is the link for the weatherstripping tho
Fixed it, check description
Is hatch stripping the same size as the doors?
Not sure
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks No, have a look at yours and think what you think?
So how has it held up?

How many doors did you get done with the 20ft?
