Hey, I wanted to ask if it’s OK if I use a brief clip of this excellent oscilloscope rendition of Marble Garden, in a series of videos I’m doing, it’s an educational/fun series of videos focusing on the music theory of beloved songs from Sonic games. When I use someone’s footage in my videos, I always attribute credit for the footage to that person - When the footage appears on screen during the video there is always a notation at the corner of the screen that says “Footage by RUclips User (Name of Person).” I also include it in the list of citations in the description of the video, which also includes a link to the originating video itself. This will also appear in the list of citations on-screen at the end of the video. If you want to get a sense of the kind of videos I make and how I attribute sources, my recent video “Sonic 3’s Endless Mine: Music Theory” is a good example. Hope to hear from you! Also, thank you so much for doing these videos - they are so fantastic/interesting/helpful! Thanks! -Alex
- grassy theme - probably fastest running in the game - bouncy slappy AF bass - 12/8 swing time This might be the most Sonic-y music in the game I think
@@NinjaCacodemon_IsSus you may be right, and I freakin love that tune (and level). Both acts. I think when I say "Sonic-y" I mean something else though.
5:07 really showcases how quintessential that delay effect is to this piece. It's baffling to hear how out of place the melody sounds with just the on-beat channel playing. Really makes you appreciate the finer details the composers put into their work!
I like how channel 1 and 4 echo with each other to represent how sonic is actually on a mountain. Makes it a lot more natural. Well done SEGA. Well done.
Hey if I could make a suggestion, you should consider adding a frame of the level you're deconstructing as your video's thumbnail background. I think it'd help differentiate each one a little clearer, and it'd be helpful to people who aren't as diehard a sonic fan and can't always tell the levels apart from title alone Keep up the good work though, I'm really happy this channel's been more active recently:)
What type of synthesis is that? Sounds like fm And also the tracks have instrument interrupts, that’s awesome And also using two channels for a delay effect is genius. So full
One year later and you're 100% wrong. Just talking out of your behind. It is now confirmed thanks to Sonic origins. The tracks that were composed by Michael Jackson and Brad buckster. This song remained in the final release meaning it was not composed by those two. Ice cap zone carnival night and the mini boss music was, however.
Tbh even if it isn't official When the Sun Goes Down - Jetzons is honestly really close to a non-16Bit Marble Garden, even if it isnt actually related.
I remember having an mp3 player where i loaded the sonic 3 ost to listen to and sometimes i liked to unplug the jack a lil bit so i could hear stuff like this...
Wow! All tracks that do not include Micheal Jackson's 16 bit remixes still remain untouched especially if this current beta build was 4 months from release which is a lot, enough to edit out or have placeholders for pending music tracks
For sega, they really did their music well for sonic 3, its what i like for an echo in the game when all the other tracks are playing, always the simplest things to make an echo for the classic sonic generation 😀
I think marble garden and ice cap easily have the least interesting music in sonic 3 & knuckles. Both are just kinda bland- with the latter also having little variety in it...
Channel 0 is really what ties this song all together as one of my favorite songs on S3&K’s BEYOND fantastic soundtrack!
All Sonic soundtracks are really about DA BASS. Seems like bass is the inner soul of these songs.
Marble Garden Zone for the win!!!!😃
Act 2: Am I a joke to you?
I thought it was DAC?
@@koolaidflavas8701 nah it's channel 0

bro nice music theory
I feel like if anyone it should be Sega that you worry about for copyright reasons, sense this video is really Sega content
@@DRpotatoYT I think the content would mostly fall under fair use, but in this case it's polite to ask permission
I got into this channel thanks to you, hope you keep doing that stuff because it's great, interesting and i learn a lot of that. You are great
Ohhh snap! Love yo content
- grassy theme
- probably fastest running in the game
- bouncy slappy AF bass
- 12/8 swing time
This might be the most Sonic-y music in the game I think
Oh yeah!
8/4 …?
Actually I think Hydrocity is faster
@@DanKop2 time sig is subjective, but 8/4 doesn't make sense here. (I could be wrong)
@@NinjaCacodemon_IsSus you may be right, and I freakin love that tune (and level). Both acts.

I like that little screech channels 2 and 3 do. No seriously it's IMMACULATE
so fucking true champ
I LOVE THAT LITTLE SCREECH TOO!!!!
2:17
Look at how they do echo in the early days.
With a whole entire channel for echo

2:32 This little marimba melody makes me love this song even more
I always love the DAC in every song
@Wishful Thinker Yeah.
@Wishful Thinker Is that a problem?
we all love DAC and CH1 Combo
@Techful I don't see how that's a problem

It kinda sounds like the level into on Aladdin.

@@jordancooney6817 You say that as if it’s not one of the best in the game lol. Shits underrated af
@@CoalWurld When I think favorite, I think Hydrocity, Mushroom Hill, Ice Cap, and Flying Battery.

@@CoalWurld Well, you do you.
A song that is so simple became so iconic, such is the basis for most of Sonic's early music. Because simple gets the job done.
It'd be great if you added a timer that shows when the music loops
1:43 it's so cool how it starts off square and morphs into a sine wave. such a cool effect!
Played Sonic 3 on my stream today and played this for a while during intermission. Thanks carp
Without that echo it just sounds so lifeless.
1:32 2:32 5:31 6:31
The DAC channel is so 😩👌
0:42 I love this part so much
These videos are seriously satisfying to listen to, especially when one-by-one each track comes in until the whole song is complete. Love your work!
6:42 - 6:57 i can not put into words how much i love this part of the song
Same
Sega was like “Nah We Going With No PSG’s” and still made it a banger!

Bass drum: Tri-puh-let-ta

Everyone can't hold it back whenever anyone hears these songs and can't stop singing
I was humming the bassline through the whole song
Love how the bass seems to be the same as the Rusty Ruin, Gene Gadget and other but with a different shape at the note's "activation" time
Channels 2 and 3 remind me of the GEMS twang sound
bruh wat it does sound like spinball
Is that a harmonica on channel 1? Cool, huh? Some instruments seem to hold better on their own than along with the other ones.
This track is a bit of an outlier really. It's a different style to all of the other songs in the game
Cause this is THRILLER!
THRILLER GARDEN! V1

LoL
I do like how there's an extra bit at the end of Channels 2 and 3 after the first part.
I think this is the only song in the classic Sonic games that doesn’t use the PSG channels.
Flying Battery 1 and 2 both don't use PSG
I could listen to just the rhythm section of this song for hours
2:58 this is where it Gets serious 😁

Lets be honest DAC and CH1 combined is the best
But in the Marble Garden's case, Channel 1 isn't the bassline.
0:06 i got chills at the WOOAARRWWRGGG

I don't think this video is a deconstruction of a music track from the prototype, though.
This is from the final version though.
Joan Cruz exactly
Naean Howlett-Foster then why u here
I think they put in the Michael Jackson music at the last minute because they were like "well we have this music, might as well use it"

Channel 2 and 3 going crazy
is it my impression or does the music change the tone between the cell phone and the computer?

DAC? You mean "PCM (sampled) track," right? The DAC is just a component to the system.
Everyone refers to it as DAC for some reason. Knowing the difference between pcm and dac would be interesting for me though
