    #hiking #yosemite #trekking #backpacking #yosemitefalls #yosemitehiking #usa
Hiking Summary: Yosemite Falls Trail and Yosemite Point
    Trail Overview:
Distance: 7.6 miles round trip to Yosemite Falls, 9.4 miles round trip to Yosemite Point
Elevation Gain: 2,700 feet to Yosemite Falls, 3,800 feet to Yosemite Point
    Duration: 6-8 hours round trip
    Difficulty: Strenuous
    Trail Description:
The Yosemite Falls Trail is one of Yosemite National Park's oldest and most iconic trails, offering breathtaking views of the highest waterfall in North America. Starting near Camp 4, the trail begins with a series of challenging switchbacks that ascend steeply through oak woodlands. As you climb, you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of the Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, and Sentinel Rock.
At about 1 mile in, you'll reach Columbia Rock, a popular vantage point with sweeping views of the valley floor. Continuing upward, the trail becomes steeper and more rugged, eventually bringing you to the base of Upper Yosemite Fall. Here, you'll experience the powerful force of the falls up close, especially dramatic during peak snow melt.
For those seeking an even more rewarding challenge, the hike continues past Yosemite Falls to Yosemite Point. This extension adds about 1.8 miles round trip and an additional 1,100 feet of elevation gain. The path beyond the falls leads through a tranquil forest and over streams, culminating in a rocky outcrop that offers panoramic views of Yosemite Valley, North Dome, and the High Sierra peaks.
    Highlights:
Spectacular views of Yosemite Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in the world.
    Panoramic vistas from Columbia Rock.
The exhilarating experience of feeling the mist and hearing the roar of the falls.
Stunning, lesser-seen perspectives from Yosemite Point, rewarding the extra effort.
    Tips:
Start early to avoid the heat and crowds, and to allow plenty of time for the hike.
Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring trekking poles for stability on the steep and rocky sections.
Carry plenty of water, snacks, and layers to adjust for changing weather conditions.
Be cautious of slippery rocks, especially during peak snow melt when trails can be wet and muddy.
This hike offers an unforgettable experience, showcasing the raw beauty and power of Yosemite during peak snow melt.

What a gorgeous video! This is the best one I've seen on Yosemite Falls. I was just there 2 weeks before you..stayed at the Wawona. I only made it to the halfway point..just high enough to get misted by the Falls. I'll be sure to go all the way up next time. Btw, a couple warned me about a mama bear and a cub, could be the same ones you saw! I'm glad you made it back down ok. Thanks for sharing!

Glad to see you went back a year later, I have been there twice this past month! The water runoff is definitely in full effect. Sorry about the trip being cut short, you made the right call tho!! Hopefully one of these days the Sierra trails will connect you and I in person.

I just completed the upper Yosemite falls trail hike today 02 June 24, I saw the same bears today around 7 o’clock in the morning. Mama bear only I saw. Other people from Sweden saw both mama and cub. The bear was actually on trail.

I’ve been reading on all trails of several sightings…they must live on the trail somewhere and probably along the ledge where I spotted them.

Does it look like the depth of the top of Taft Point to the base of the valley is far?
