It was way less crowded due to Covid restrictions. They were only allowing people with reservations into the park. We had no idea, but were very grateful. I hear it can be crazy busy!
The backcountry office gave us a permit to keep on the dashboard, but this trip was also during the pandemic restrictions, so things may have changed since.
